2018 Finalist in Digital Book World Awards, Children’s CategoryMost bad books look forward to hanging out at rummage sales. Not this bad book. Its goal is to be featured in the library’s Banned Books List. Problem is, no one seems to notice… until the book teams up with its boisterous readers. Together, the book and its readers shout, wiggle, and sing to get the attention of a local librarian. … librarian. Will this book see its cover on the library wall… or will it end up in the recycling bin? Full of bold, colorful graphics and laugh-out-loud humor, The Worst Book Ever is another colorful, graphical, high-lo book for reluctant readers by Beth Bacon. The meta-storytelling and interactive prompts get reluctant readers laughing, dancing, shouting—and reading. Ideal for read-alouds and story time, as well as independent reading for beginning to intermediate readers. Like Beth Bacon’s other books, I Hate Reading, The Book No One Wants To Read, and Blank Space, this book helps make reading fun.

A funny little book about a book (that sounds weird, but oh well) who learns that he doesn’t truly want to be a bad book, but to get noticed and read. I really liked it.
THE absolutely essential naughty bad book !
A TREAT to read :
happy, funny, naughty, bad, cheeky, very colorful, here is a small/large book that will delight and delight your little chicks !
In this interactive book, anything goes, because he/it is really naughty, bad…
An essential for all your children’s libraries
Great for reluctant readers especially boys with the wiggles. Does include the word butt. Kids are encouraged to be bad by library standards, (noisy, active, and nonsensical), but of course as they help this bad book get banned, they learn that reading is actually fun and a really good idea
This book desperately wants to be a bad boy. His goal is to become a banned book in the library. He tries everything to win the librarian’s disapproval. Some of his tactics include using gross words, misspelled words, and made-up words. The book enlists readers to assist him by being loud and doing everything possible to annoy the librarian like flapping arms, wiggling and jumping up and down in their seats. To his dismay, the book makes its way into storytime.
This book is filled with lots of humor, graphics and simple illustrations. There are vivid colors, lots of variation in print size, alliteration, and onomatopoeia. Bacon playfully encourages her readers to become accomplices in the book’s quest for notoriety.
Bacon targets the book for a kindergarten through grade five audience. Beginning, intermediate and reluctant readers can join in the fun.
Watch out! The Worst Book Ever might just lead to the best story time ever! This book might want to be bad, but it’s so, so good! Hilarious and jam-packed with fun for all little listeners, from still to squirmy!
My boys are avid readers, so they are not necessarily even the target audience for this book. That said, they were laughing hysterically at all of the antics of the book as it tried to get the librarian’s attention. My oldest (on the spectrum) actually had tears streaming down his face. A great read!!
A fabulous read-aloud with children. This book desperately wants to be a Banned Book. It tries all kinds of ways to make the list, asking you to help along the way.
The Worst Book Ever by Beth Bacon – This was an Amazon freebie. I want to tell you that this is book art on a level that I might actually be able to pull off, but it’s really too good for me to have done it! Loved it though! Super cute! Happy Reading!
Great for kids because it is
Too advanced for my grand child.
Did not like this book. As someone who teaches children I am always looking for interesting and unique books for them but I was very disappointed with this book.
Fun for young children
My 5 year Old grandson loves the to read this book.
Funny and interactive children’s book. Kids will really get into the story.
My 5 year old grandson and I loved reading this fun book.
My 5 year old loves this semi interactive book! A great read.
my son loved this book! It is so fun and cute!
It is a great book for kids who think they don’t like to read
I was not really a fan of this book because it didn’t have any real substance. Although not exactly a great literary read, it might pique the interest of a reluctant reader because it is engaging and talks directly to the reader.
Read it with my granddaughter and we read it twice more that weekend. We lots of fun reading and performing the actions the book describes. Great for kids.
