“Newsflash. You don’t buy me, a$#%^*e. You earn me.” The bride is a doll. The groom is the perfect gentleman. But the rest of the wedding party? They’re the stuff of nightmares. Rich? Check. Vapid? Double Check. Entitled? Not enough checks in the world. And the Best Man? More like the Worst Man.But Maid of Honor Franchesca takes her duties seriously. Kidnapped groom? She’s got this. Rude … Kidnapped groom? She’s got this. Rude attendees? You just watch her handle them. So a Best Man with a big attitude and an even bigger…checkbook? Yeah, there’s no way she’s going to let that pretentious, judgmental jackhole ruin her best friend’s wedding. No matter how sexy he is. (Well, that’s the plan anyway…)
Aiden Kilbourn doesn’t do long-term relationships. He’s busy ruling the business world, and has yet to find a woman he can tolerate for longer than a month, two at the outside, anyway. Conquering the unconquerable is basically his bread and butter. And he hasn’t met a challenge that he can’t win. But Franchesca Baranski? This smart-mouthed girl from Brooklyn may just be his downfall.

The Worst Best Man was my first read from Lucy Score. What a great introduction! WBM is light and funny, with rom-com danger that can’t quite be taken seriously, right up until the depth of it all sneaks up on you. The characters are well developed, there is great dialogue, and although there is plenty of high society and family drama, there isn’t any high school drama that makes me roll my eyes. Frankie is snarky, and witty and smart… but oh so guarded and doesn’t trust that life with Aiden could really work. I LOVE that we also have Aidens POV throughout the story- I would seriously question his motives at times if we didn’t know how he really feels. But alas, we do and he is absolutely swoon worthy!
I really need to up my reading game, especially with Lucy Score and her books. This is my third book by her and I loved it! How can you not love a smart-mouth New Yorker like Franchesa (Frankie) Baranski having to deal with the pompous best man that is Aiken Kilbourn? But alas, they must work together to rescue the groom from a “kidnapper”, and it entails lots of funny moments and loads of sexual chemistry.
As soon as the wedding is over, Frankie heads back to NY, working her two jobs and finishing up her Master’s Degree, she’ll never see Aiken again, or so she thought. As you continue to read, Aiken isn’t all that bad, he really wants to get to know Frankie, but Frankie needs to stop being Frosty the Ice Bitch. God, you have to love a BFF when they call you out on your bullshit meter, that’s what Pru did for Frankie. So “all in” she was with Aiken.
Loads of sexy times and romantic moments, but Frankie, you know she can’t get out of her head and when she finds out why her BFF and her now husband broke up that time in college, well let’s just say, Frankie runs for the hills.
While lots of funny and sexy moments, there was some emotional ones as well. Can Frankie fit into Aiken’s world? Well you have to read it and find out for yourself.
Lucy Score is fast becoming a fan favorite for me and I really need to read more of her older books.
I was challenged to read this book as part of an online book club. Oh my goodness. First book by Author Lucy Score that I have read. Thank you unicorns for recommending this RomCom. I love a book that gives me belly laughs and this book gives me that and more. It has a story line that has depth that started from the stripper pole at the wedding and just never stopped. When a writer can meld the upper class snobs with Brooklyn earthiness and give is a book that you simply do not want to put down… you know you have a winner. Romance, comedy with lots of heat.
A couple of months ago, Lucy Score found her way to my list of automatic one-click authors. Her books are hilarious and hot.
Frankie and Aidan definitely get off on the wrong foot when they meet for the first time and all of their interactions were laugh out loud funny. There are so many crazy situations in this story that I ignored all life for an entire day just to be able to finish. My favorite part of this book is that while it is an enemies to lovers, it was so different than most of the stories that I have read. I really hope that all of the characters introduced get their own books so that I can revisit the hilarity of this group!!
I love Lucy’s strong female characters and Frankie is no exception! Her family, best friend, Pru, and enemy turned beau, Aiden, oh and Frankie’s family gosh they’re all so well developed! I see a lot of myself in Frankie and it made the book all the more enjoyable, now if only I could find my Aiden! This one gets 5 stars from me as I couldn’t put it down for 2 days straight. It’s my favorite Lucy Score work to date, and I’ve read them all!
Did you think I’d stop giving just because you started?
So I just have to say: DAMMIT LUCY SCORE!! You’ve broken me. For real. I am in the habit of writing reviews pretty quickly upon finishing a book. I finished this book TWO WEEKS AGO and kept waiting for magical words to come so that I could write a review worthy of it. Guess what? They didn’t. So I have to rely on those plain Muggle- born, pedestrian words that are in my brain. And hopefully they will convey to you 1)just how much you will love these characters 2)the range of emotions that you will experience while reading this book and 3)how unbelievably versatile Ms. Score is as an author.
Franchesca Baranski is loud. And confident. She’s strong and sassy. Independent and hard-working. Basically, she’s one kickass chick from Brooklyn. And she’s also loyal and one hell of a friend. Willing to put up with the vapid fakes that make up the rest of the bridal party of her best friend’s wedding, in order to make sure that the day can be as perfect as possible for charming supporting character, Pru. But for all of Frankie’s amazing and admirable qualities, she does have her faults. And pride tops the list.
Aiden Kilbourn is devastatingly handsome. Rich as Midas. And he exudes power in waves. He basically lives and breathes his job, although he makes exceptions when it comes to supporting his best friend, Chip. His relationships are basically business deals themselves. And when he wants something, he’s used to getting it.
With two such strong personalities, it’s no surprise that these two butt heads from the moment they meet. And oh, that delicious chemistry that bubbles underneath the very surface while zany and ridiculous events unfold at the destination wedding for their friends. Eventually it can no longer be contained, and yes, it is explosive and hot and everything you imagine and more. But Frankie doesn’t move in the world of power and money and she runs back to her comfort zone. Aiden won’t stand for it. And what ensues will have you feeling ALL of those feelings I mentioned before.
The cast of characters will have you alternately laughing (skeletal, overentitled hussies, a small child named Antonio, who drives a taxi through the Barbadian streets and later becomes a close friend of the family, and the Baranski family who are both the most insane and most supportive people ever), booing (Aiden’s self-involved father, psychotic half-brother, and delusional ex-step-mother), and swooning (Frankie’s BFF, Pru, and her now-husband, Chip and their love for each other and for their friends).
Frankie tosses out these zippy one-liners and Aiden says things that will make your heart both flutter and pump harder. Frankie will make Aiden work for it until she comes to a startling revelation. Aiden will undergo a surprising shift in his thinking and reevaluate his life goals. And the two of them will have you completely invested in their story and hoping for an epic HEA.
And Lucy Score once again, will not disappoint.
Why I hadn’t discovered this author before is beyond comprehension, but now I’ve had a taste of her writing, reading all of her books is a must. Score’s sexy laugh-out-land romance not only has a good dose of drama but is also steeped in emotion. Keeping me enthralled from the first page to the last, I either wanted to have a word with some of the characters or hug them to bits. And I loved the contrast!
Not often do I come across a faultless heroine. Frankie quickly gained my respect with her down-to-earth attitude, on the ball efficiency and low tolerance for pettiness. So, it was difficult for me to imagine that her duties as maid of honour at her bestie’s wedding could turn into a fiasco. But does it? Everything happens at such a fast pace that keeping up with the goings-on made for a challenging read.
My feelings for Aiden were mixed. From the right side of town—in my book there isn’t a wrong one, this gorgeous and ridiculously wealthy guy pushed my patience to its limits. However, I tried not to be too sceptical, considered many things and consequently gave him his due. Just as well he cracked it ‘cause otherwise…! Lol, the author did well by him!
Family is my thing. Score blinkin’ well knocked this aspect of the story out of the park, and I’m still not sure whose parents I liked more. His father, her mum—I was bowled over by the love. The bridemonsters…no words!
Spot on editing in a solid storyline is not up for dispute. Score has given her readers the perfect distraction in a setting that’ll make you want to jump on a plane to check it out. Add witty banter and scorching hot scenes into the mix and here you have it, reading entertainment at its very best. Bravo, Sc
4 stars . Good book.

Just read this damn book people
Just when I thought I was tired of haughty billionaires, I meet Aiden Kilbourn.
What a fantastic book! The story takes unexpected turns, the secondary characters are perfection, and I’m going to miss the MCs now that I’ve finished the book. Brilliant character growth here, with emotional veracity and truly tough decisions. And it’s all mixed with a healthy dollop of truly funny moments.
Wholeheartedly recommend.
A lot of mixed feelings about this one. Frankie was a fun character and I loved her with Aiden. The plot was a little wacky at first and for a book with a title about a wedding, the wedding was actually only a small part. I think I felt maybe the plot needed a little tightening up so that there weren’t long stretches where I got bored. It was a good read, but there was just something missing from it that I can’t quite verbalize.
Frankie from Brooklyn channels Stephanie Plum from Trenton with a potty mouth, take no prisoner’s ‘tude, but is less ambivalent feelings about her sexuality. Both Frankie and Aiden are hysterical together and are difficult to put down characters.
When they first meet, it’s at their respective best friends pre-wedding party, and it’s not exactly love at first sight. Aiden says something rotten about Frankie which she overhears (implies she’s a pole dancer), and since she is a no-holds barred heroine, she lays him out. She’s no cry in the corner and wring her hands HP victim by any means. Their banter and wit is top-notch…Samples of Frankie’s smart mouth below.
When he has a migraine.
“Why are you being nice to me?” Aiden rubbed a hand over his temple.
“Maybe I’m doing it to rub your face in the fact that you’re an ass. And maybe I just gave you two birth control pills instead of headache meds just to watch you suffer.”
As she’s saying goodbye…
“Back to the party so I can shake my stripper ass at all those eligible bachelors.”
The plot derails at the destination wedding for a while into some silly antics that come across as bad Stephanie Plum (One for the Money), but overall Frankie is a hoot and Aiden is yummy alpha male. He’s your typical cold, aloof manwhore who’s previous longest commitment was two months. Now the Italian leather loafer is on the other foot, and it’s Frankie stonewalling Aiden.
Toss in her funny older brothers, her mother who wants her to get married and start churning out bambinos as long as it’s not with a bajillionaire out of her league, his snooty father, some despicable OW wannabees…You get the drift.
The two end up in a relationship of sorts, and they battle it out with two dominating personalities. Frankie is very frank (no pun intended but it worked out) about her sexuality which made me a tad uncomfortable, but I’m old school, literally old school, so take that with a grain of salt.
I loved the banter; I loved how Aiden changes; I adored how Frankie handled obstacles in her way.
Why not four stars? It could have been better. Nitpicky, but there were a couple of subplots that were thrown away and the aforementioned cutesy crap. But overall, Lucy Stone is on my list!
