I loved this book. It is the first in a new series by author Lisa Lilly and I hope there are many more. Angela Dawe is the narrator for this book and had the perfect voice for it. I could not stop listening to the story. I am sure if I had read the hardcopy I would have called it a page turner.
Quille is the main character and she has a very complex background which lends itself to the story line very well.
I was gifted this book but this review is my honest review.
The author, Lisa Lilly, certainly fooled me all the way to the end as to the guilty party in this murder mystery attempting to be solved by Q.C. Davis and her friends, despite the police officially closing the case. Q.C. is definitely shown to the reader as a woman struggling both physically and emotionally with the case, as well as other aspects of her personal life and career. The story shows the importance of finding out the truth whether it is good or bad news, but it does give final closure to the people involved. There were quite a few potential suspects tossed out to the reader for consideration as the plot moved along at a good clip to its revealing conclusion, even though this was a rather long book with 70 chapters. I am looking forward to reading further adventures of Q.C. and her friends. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
This is the first book I read by Lisa Lilly and what started as a simple love story turns out to be a real thriller with a lot of action and plots within plots. The main character is obstinate in proving she is right and does not stop at anything to find the truth regarding her boyfriend´s death. There was a lot that she did not know but she was certain that he loved her and would not leave her at all. Promising start of a series and by the excerpt I read from the second book it´ll keep up to its promise.
