Snoopy, Man’s Best Friend
Snoopy is a dog, dog is man’s best friend so therefore Snoopy must be man’s best friend right? In this collection of comics we find Snoopy becoming a guard dog to protect Peppermint Patty at night because her dad works till 2am and she can’t sleep when home alone. However Snoopy may not be the best guard dog in the world… Is Charlie Brown any better as a guard dog?
Snoopy also goes out Truffle hunting with Linus. While out hunting for Truffles they find a big Truffle in the form of a girl. And both Linus and Snoopy fall head over heels for her. Who will win out? Linus or Snoopy?
Snoopy “helps” Sally with her school report on “Our Animal Friends”.
And many more. I really liked this collection of Snoopy comics.
In my digital copy Page 24 is blank for some reason.
Snoopy, The Sportsman
In this comic collection they have collected 120+ or so Peanuts comics in which Snoopy is performing, talking or thinking about sports. From Baseball, to Hockey, to Tennis and Football.
It’s a decent collection of comics and is a nice and quick easy read. It’s a no brainer for me to pick up this collection.
Snoopy, The Music Lover
In this collection it’s all about music, so a lot of comics with Schroeder. Several of them duplicates of each other and many others just slight variations. Not a whole lot of imagination went into these imo. The only upside is it’s Peanuts and classic.
Snoopy, The Flying Ace
This comic collection is mostly about Snoopy and his Sopwith Camel. The first series of a cartoons are about Peppermint Patty renting Snoopy’s Sopwith Camel to enter it into the Powder Puff Derby Race. Another series we see Snoopy is a helicopter out to rescue Linus’ blanket from the evil cat next door. And in another Linus is stuck on the roof of a barn and helicopter pilot Woodstock is hired to rescue him. And finally, a whole slew of World War I flying ace behind enemy lines talking to pretty French ladies and drinking root beer.
Snoopy, The Tennis Ace
Ok, so I had to create a B for today. I originally signed up on Goodreads to read 400 books for this year. I thought I had calculated it correctly to end up with 400 books read on December 31st. Guess I miscounted somehow, probably when I took that week off. So here on December 31st, I read two books to get my 400th book.
As to the book itself, I didn’t like this one as much. It’s all about Snoopy and him playing Tennis. However a LOT of the jokes were just repeats, basically the exact same joke except the final frame of the comic where the line would be slightly different. And being that I don’t keep up with Tennis I didn’t know many of the Tennis stars they name dropped in the comic. Overall, these are comics that were on the lower end of the quality scale for Peanuts.
Snoopy, the Winter Wonder Dog
In this collection of Peanuts comics, we follow Snoopy around in his winter escapades into Ice Skating, the Winter Olympics and Hockey!
This comics is ok, it only has 1 comic per page so it’s not as jam packed as some comic collections can be (who usually get 3 comics per page).
Snoopy, Master of Disguise
In this jaunt through Snoopy’s past we go through his repertoire of his disguises. We meet Joe Cool, Champion surfer Snoopy, Detective Snoopy, and many more. As with the other books in this series it contains around 120+ comics with one per page.
Snoopy, Master of the Fairways
In this collection of Snoopy cartoons it’s all about Golf. Several of the jokes had references to Golfers of old that I was unfamiliar with so the Joke didn’t “land” with me. And one joke was repeated in the book, almost verbatim too.
Since I’m not a golfer, I just didn’t enjoy this collection as much. I don’t think I even chuckled once throughout the book.
Overall
Ok, overall this is an OK collection. I got it on sale for $3.99 and at that price it’s a easy no brainer. However 2 of the 8 books in this collection I really didn’t care for at all, Another 2 were just ok and the remaining 4 were good.
