Good book.
I really liked this book. The horrors of the so-called poor shelters depended on the persons managing the shelter and the care of the persons responsible fort he way it was run. The main character was a delight and a tough lady who inspired everyone around her to be a better person without being overbearing. Loved the book and would recommend it wholeheartedly.
I loved that a woman could keep coming up with these ideas to help the poor. She was never down for long. Great book.
Loved the read, kept my interest but ending was missing something.
Historically the story line was not believable but it was entertaining in the sense of wish life worked out that well.
Not your run of the mill book with stale predictable plot. Refreshing. Good read!
Good story but WAY too long!!
I enjoyed this story. I hope that conditions such as they were in the workhouse really didn’t happen. Very sad.
I found this book engrossing as it progressed in its story. Very good.
Good book and good learning but I detest books where it is obvious the author got tired of it and just quit
I really enjoyed this author. I read her next book and liked it even more, I wish she had more books…
Loved the book. Very real to life in the Times. Sad for improvised families.
Lots of inspiration, great characters, great villains, and a really beautiful story!
Hard to realize how dogmatic and uncaring our forebears were. But are we that much different today? There are hungry, unloved children and hurting people everywhere that a little compassion and thinking outside the box would surely help!
I did not feel this book was realistic. The goals of the main character were too easily obtained.
Nice sweet read.
Not only was it so dull that I didn’t read more than 1/4 of the book, the “good” people were GOOD and the “bad” people were BAD. It was all very black and white. Drivel.
Good read!!
Well written, good character development. Couldn’t put it down.
