Wonderful book you will remember long after you finished reading this book.
The Workhouse Children by Lindsey Hutchinson was just fair. What I disliked the most was the unbelievable characters and their actions. The illnesses and injuries seemed very contrived to fit the storyline parameters. There was lots of action and interesting twists in the story but unfortunately not believable. I received this ARC for my honest review.
I didn’t know about the workhouse and how difficult life was at this time for people with no tesources…really just survival.
I really enjoyed this book. A young lady inherited wealth which she used to find younger siblings and learned how she could help many needy people in the process. Very inspirational.
This one is a must read for those who really want to think about how the world can go so wrong
Really enjoyed this book.
An enjoyable read. Interesting historical background.
Good start then got very predictable and boring.
Heart warming yet sad and a few tears! worth the read!
I just finished it and I couldn’t put it down. I read on my Kindle and on the app on my phone and every time I had a second I would pull it up and read even if I just had a minute of two.
Although the story line is enjoyable, it is treated in an almost fairy-tale way with plenty of money and innocence. It made for a good, happily-ever-after escape book.
delightful light read
This was an interesting historical fiction book. Many sad circumstances were depicted in the story, but of course there was a happy ending.
Very good with a nice evening.
Still reading and enjoying this one
Enjoyable read with several unexpected twists and turns, and really good Victorian period information. No shrinking violets in this one – this heroine rocks! Great characters – liked how all the different individual’s stories were tied together with an exciting conclusion. Romance, vengeance, and plenty of drama keep you on your toes. Don’t want to give any of the story away – you’ll have to read it for yourself, but it’s worth your time! 🙂
I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK. I COULDN’T PUT IT DOWN.
Enjoyed this book immensely. It’s hard for me to understand the differences between people in the 21 Century and those of earlier Centuries. The beliefs and Standards are so different, and people were punished for things beyond their control.
I really enjoyed reading this book, I have often thought about what I would do if I had LOTS of money. The book may be unrealistic in real life, because their are many people who do have lots of money and do nothing for anyone with it. This young lady had lots of good ideas and in doing them she found her family. GREAT READ!
This book was so terribly predictable I was unable to read past 48% of the book. Disappointed.
