I enjoyed this twist on Red Riding Hood where the wolf is the one you’re rooting for. Lily and Marrok are perfect together and the chemistry sizzles between them. Great fun, steamy romance. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a very creative and enjoyable retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, complete with a big bad Wolf you wouldn’t mind running into. All in all a delightful if slightly short romp through the pages.

Lady Lily Rouge is travelling through the Enchanted Forest when Sir Marrok Ulfang, in wolf form, stops the carriage and takes Lily to his home.
Marrok was cursed and is in wolf form at night and human form during the day. He has been waiting for his mate for a long time. His mate needs to be a virgin and will need to stay with him. The Enchanted Forest is unique in that time and language is different. For the spell to be broken, his mate can only lose her virginity to him on one night.
While they did not know each other, they had visited each others dreams for many years.
The book is pretty steamy in sections.
I did read the book, but after reading reviews of the audio book and that the author commented that the audio book has dual narration, music and sound effects…I kinda wish I listened to it instead of reading it.

Great read! I enjoyed this twist on a classic! It is well written and enjoyed the new take on the characters! I look forward to the rest of the series!
This is a retelling of the classic Little Red Riding Hood. I thought it was a pretty good revamp of the story. graphic sexual scenes. I thought the characters were likable and well written. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it.

This story was entertaining and even amusing at times what with the diverse enchanted forest population, wonders, curses, and whatnot, and I really enjoyed Lily’s character and strategy, but Marrok’s wishy washy ways were a little annoying. Also the book’s cover doesn’t feel right somehow. However, it was a quirky, steamy-ish quick-read that I can recommend.
I received a free copy of The Woodsman, but that did not affect my review.
“Once upon a moonlit night in the Enchanted Forest, where cursed beings are consigned until the spells that bind them are broken.” What a wonderful, mystical, magical, unpredictable romance. Loved the characters. See, you have to keep your eyes on the pixies.

Lily’s transport is attacked on the way to her impending wedding by a wolf. Later, she is defended by that blue eyed wolf. What happens in this Enchanted Forest is a different take on fairytale creatures that I really enjoyed.

The story starts with Lady Lily Rouge on her way through a strange forest by carriage to meet her betrothed, the elderly but wealthy Marquis d’Evreux (who can’t seem to keep a wife alive for long). She was stranded in the Enchanted Forest and met a huge black wolf. The wolf was actually Sir Marrok Ulfang who was cursed by the woman he rejected and turns into a wolf every night. To reverse the curse, he must take the virginity of a woman who gives herself willingly to him or he will not regain his normal life. Marrok recognizes Lily is his mate by her scent. But he only has one night to accomplish reversing the curse and must convince her they belong together. Will Lily fall in love? Will she be the one to break the curse? There is more going on in the forest to keep them apart. Will Lily make it safely through the night? Or is more adventure awaiting her?
This was a clever turning of the classic fairy tale, and I think the author did a good job with it. Marrok was a gentleman and my favorite character. Grab your copy for yourself – you don’t want to read this one to the kiddies!

This story begins in the ‘Once Upon A Time’ period. You know, horse drawn carriages, big dresses, big styled hair, young virgin ingénue sold to an old man…wait! No, that last part is just this one. Lily’s parents received a letter from an old widower asking for Lily to come to him to be his bride. He wrote the magic words, ‘no dowry needed’. Her parents pack her up and send her in a rickety carriage that just happens to take a road through an enchanted forest. So Lily has been having erotic dreams since she was a teen. She never saw the man’s face, only his eyes, and she always woke up before the deed was done. Meanwhile, in the Enchanted Forest, a large, black wolf can smell that she’s entered and he’s prepared to get her. The wolf is Sir Marrok Ulfang, cursed to be a wolf at night and a man during the day. He’s been dreaming of his young virgin ingénue for years, hoping she would be the one to break his curse.
So, Marrok really wants to break the curse and be human again, and in the beginning I thought it was going to be a ‘Dubious Consent’ story. No, Marrok remembered his honor, then remembered who cursed him and didn’t want Lily to have to pay for un-breaking the curse. This story has every fairy tale, every myth and every mythological creature we’ve heard stories of all our lives. Heck, Marrok is a Knight of the Round Table and ended cursed and in the forest due to his quests with King Arthur. Yes, THAT King Arthur. It wasn’t a bad story, but it wasn’t a phenomenal one either. According to Amazon and Goodreads, The Woodsman is the first book in the Enchanted Lovers Series from Ms. Scarlett. I couldn’t find any other books in the series, but this is the third edition, so hopefully Ms. Scarlett might publish more.
