Deep within the Wood, a young woman lies dead. Not a mark on her body. No trace of her murderer. Only her chipped glass slippers hint at her identity.
The Woodcutter, keeper of the peace between the Twelve Kingdoms of Man and the Realm of the Faerie, must find the maiden’s killer before others share her fate. Guided by the wind and aided by three charmed axes won from the River God, the … the Woodcutter begins his hunt, searching for clues in the whispering dominions of the enchanted unknown.
But quickly he finds that one murdered maiden is not the only nefarious mystery afoot: one of Odin’s hellhounds has escaped, a sinister mansion appears where it shouldn’t, a pixie dust drug trade runs rampant, and more young girls go missing. Looming in the shadows is the malevolent, power-hungry queen, and she will stop at nothing to destroy the Twelve Kingdoms and annihilate the Royal Fae… unless the Woodcutter can outmaneuver her and save the gentle souls of the Wood.
Blending magic, heart-pounding suspense, and a dash of folklore, The Woodcutter is an extraordinary retelling of the realm of fairy tales.

This is one of the most gorgeous books I’ve read so far this year. Danley’s mastery of prose, pacing and storytelling provide a scrumptious fairy tale feast. To paraphrase Austen, if I loved this less, I may be able to talk about it more. Simply beautiful.
A whimsical look at fairy tale life, Danley took beloved characters and wove them into a tapestry of her own.
This book had me absolutely addicted! It was a beach read for me, but I found it to be riveting and that I wanted to read it over and over again. I felt like I was inside of the book and was completely caught up in it for the entire time. The mix of mythology, tall tales, and classic fairytales was a perfect harmony for a fantasy nerd like me. …
I love reading different tales on fairy tales. This book has a lot of my favorite characters in it.
This was an amazing read. I loved that it was a cross between fantasy (fae and faeries) and fairy tales (red riding hood and Jack and the beanstalk etc). I was invested from the first chapter. The author wrote the story with so much mystery that I was intrigued. I loved the characters and the plot kept moving. The author did a good job …
This book is in the same vein as Uprooted by Naomi Novik and The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden. If you like either of those books, you will like this book. It’s a shorter read than either of those books though. And I would have liked to see the characters more fully formed. I didn’t really feel attached to them. I mostly read it …
This was a surprise, in that I did not know what to expect. I have described it as being like Once Upon a Time, the Grimm Brothers, Into The Woods, Norse Mythology, and Scandinavian fairy tales all sat down and traded their stories with each other. I loved it. The author put a very inventive twist on the classic fairy tales, and created a whole …
Great fantasy novel. I loved this book!
It is just an extremely interesting twist on fairy tales.
Imaginative read! I enjoyed The Woodcutter. My husband listened to the audible version and enjoyed it as well. It was a different perspective on fairy tales stories and characters I remember from childhood. The Woodcutter had action, adventure, sadness, and happiness.
I often read reviews by other readers after I have finished a novel. I find such reviews helpful when mulling over and digesting the entirety of what I have just read. In the case of The Woodcutter, I am rather surprised at the mix of reviews I encountered. It appears that readers either really enjoyed this novel or absolutely disliked the writing …
One of the few books I was not able to read all the way through. Just could not hold my interest.
A different kind of fantasy story. It feels more like a fairy tale, but for adults in that it is deeper than a story for children.
I suspect it was a better book than I think. It’s just not my cup of tea. I did read it all the way but have no interest in continuing a series. There is just no suspense and I had a hard time figuring out if there was a plot and never did decide. Occupied me for a few hours and that is always a good thing.
Sweet and entertaining. Grown up fairy tale mash-up. Loved it!
very entertaining
A twist on the traditional fairy tales. I kept reading to find out what would happen next.
