“A marital saga so pitch-black it makes Gone Girl look like the romance of the decade… [The Woman Inside] resembles past smashes like Big Little Lies and The Woman in the Window.”—Entertainment WeeklyAn impossible-to-put-down domestic thriller about secrets and revenge, told from the perspectives of a husband and wife who are the most perfect, and the most dangerous, match for each other. … perfect, and the most dangerous, match for each other.
Paul and Rebecca are drowning as the passion that first ignited their love has morphed into duplicitous secrecy, threatening to end their marriage, freedom, and sanity. Rebecca, in the throes of opioid addiction, uncovers not only her husband’s affair but also his plan to build a new life with the other woman. Spiraling desperately, she concocts a devious plot of her own—one that could destroy absolutely everything.
The Woman Inside is a shockingly twisty story of deceit, an unforgettable portrait of a marriage imploding from within, and a cautionary tale about how love can morph into something far more sinister. It’s a novel about how people grow apart and how those closest to us can be harboring the most shocking of secrets.

From its seize-you-by-throat opening to that jack-in-the-box finale, this slick, sleek thriller held me breathless. Psychological suspense at its brightest and boldest.
The Woman Inside was an amazing read. This book has plenty of twists and turns you don’t see coming and the ending is mind blowing! I loved it. I don’t think I have ever read about such a twisted couple as Rebecca and Paul. This story draws you in and doesn’t let go, fantastic read.
I give The Woman Inside 5 stars for its spiraling suspenseful read.
I would recommend this book to Psychological Suspense Fans.
If the dog loves the characters, they must be “likeable,” right?
Maybe not. Paul and Rebecca show all the self-centeredness of narcissists. Rebecca, particularly, is prone to jump to conclusions. Jumping to conclusions is second nature to humans, but it’s first nature to her. And the conclusion she jumps to regarding Paul’s infidelity is magnified by her addiction to every drug imaginable. He notices–sort of–but he’s intent on a surprise for her and doesn’t reach the conclusion that she is definitely hooked. Nor does he notice that she has lost her job. Nor does he notice her following him to his “mistress” while never following him to his “surprise.” The hardest part of the book to accept for me was the conclusion. I won’t spoil it except to say: Why no impact on the dog? And the epilogue/ending is unsatisfying and unbelievable for the same reason: how does the character get away with the magnificent diamond? Twists in suspense novels often become too complicated for credulity, imo. That happened here–maybe because the authors say the book is headed for TV syndication. That often means every episode must end on a cliffhanger/twist. Read this one for no other reason than to see if you don’t figure out the real role of the “mistress.” One other point, this book will send you checking on catalepsy. I’m still unsure if that scene is credible.
Wonderful book! I didn’t know how it was going to end!! I was surprised!! I couldn’t put it down!
I could NOT get into this one. The characters were rather odious – that seems to be the newest genre, obnoxiously awful couple-stories – but that in itself wasn’t what put me off. Rather, it was the all-over-the-place narrative… It felt like it was written by different people at different times, and I had a tough time deciphering it and making it even remotely sensical. Ultimately I gave up without finishing. This one was not for me.

Lindas Book Obsession Reviews “The Woman Inside” by E. G. Scott, Dutton, January 22, 2019
WOW! OMG!!! Kudos to E.G.Scott, Author of “The Woman Inside” for writing such an edgy, intense, captivating, unpredictable, suspenseful, mysterious, chilling thriller. My nerves were honestly shot by the end of this book. Again, it is lucky I didn’t break my gel nails or a tooth. Yet, I couldn’t put this book down, no matter what. The Genres for this novel are thriller, suspense, mystery and fiction. The story is set in the present and goes back twenty years, and more when it pertains to the characters of events of the story. The author describes are quirky and dysfunctional characters as complex, complicated and suspect.
Rebecca and Paul have been married for twenty years. Both come with a history of tragedies in their families. Both have a way of avoiding the truth and lying. There are secrets in their marriage. Their marriage is almost like a game of chess, or a game of cat and mouse.
Some of Paul’s indiscretions during their marriage have a way of showing up. When bodies go missing, and bodies are found dead, the police become involved. Quite a few members in this community are up to no good. Rebecca is forced to quit her job, and her addiction to certain medications may become a problem. Why doesn’t Rebecca tell Paul that she is no longer working? What can Rebecca be plotting? There are twists and turns. Even the police keep finding different suspects with motives.
Strange and dangerous things are happening. Someone has been in Rebecca’s house, and things are mysteriously disappearing. I was left guessing, and my conclusions were proven wrong. Warning: This is a book one should not read before going to bed.!! I would highly recommend this frightening thriller to readers who enjoy this genre. What an amazing book!!
I received an ARC of this from Penguin First To Read
This is definitely a page turner and will keep you guessing what will happen next. Rebecca and her husband Paul’s world seems to have come undone, how could it not with the events in their lives cheating, drugs, murder and getting revenge.
Twisted, but had a very predictable ending.
Not believable
Wow, this was one of the most original thrillers I’ve read in a long time! Through the masterful use of different perspectives, it explores the theme of lies and what it can do to a marriage and what those lies can ultimately lead to. The ending was particularly explosive and not what you would expect. A real page-turner!
It was a fun read, but dark characters.

This is the debut novel from this author. After absolutely loving In Case Of Emergency, I definitely wanted to read this.
•
: In this book we follow Paul and Rebecca who have been married for twenty years, when weird things start happening.
Overall I thought this was a very solid debut novel from 2019. I knew going in that I love the writing of this author, and it was fun to see the contrasting writing style between the debut and their second book. The Woman Inside had be engaged from start to finish. There were a few plot twists in this cat and mouse novel that I was able to figure out. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes domestic thrillers. I will definitely read more books written by this duo!!!!!
If you overlook the language and the sexual parts, the book has an interesting plot with an unpredictable ending. You have to keep reading because you are so invested in it.
I love this author!
Great book and great character and story development! It was a great read!
A page turner that is hard to put down. Very well written. I’d highly recommend
Holy crap! What a ride. The Woman Inside by E.G. Scott was absolutely fantastic! From the plot twists, to the character development, I was completely in awe of this book. Let’s just say, you’ll never see this ending coming!
Rebecca and Paul seem to have a perfect life; great jobs, tons of money, and their sex life leaves little to the imagination. This perfect life, however, comes crumbling down when Paul starts to cheat on his wife. That’s not surprising because he cheated on his first wife with Rebecca before marrying her. Rebecca on the other hand, has issues of her own, an addiction to pills. That’s also no surprise as she is a highly respected pharmaceutical rep.
When Paul decides to end his relationship with his mistress, Shelia, she doesn’t take it too well. She starts to stalk Paul and Rebecca. In terrifying ways, she makes sure Paul will pay for breaking her heart. One night the unthinkable happens, making Paul and Rebecca decide how far they will go to protect themselves and their marriage.
This book has it all. From steamy sex scenes, to paranoia, even tackling addiction problems, E.G. Scott truly had me captivated. The plots bring in a wide variety of perspectives, too. Not only do we hear from Paul and Rebecca, but also Shelia and detectives. This allows for different narratives, and a bird-eyes view into how people perceive this married couple.
I honestly LOVED the mistress’ character. Sheila is something straight out a horror film. The way her mind thinks in bringing this married couple down is unbelievable. I was shocked, utter shock, reading that ending and epilogue. I truly never saw that one coming.
Scott’s writing of this book was straight out of a TV show. I was enthralled by the characters and my opinions changed constantly. With the different narratives I was jumping from liking one character, to hating them the next. The plot twists were so insane, I had to walk away and reread them. Let’s just say, if you’re looking for a book that is both terrifying and amusing at times, E.G. Scott’s book The Woman Inside is definitely worth reading. I highly recommend this psychological thriller!

I really wanted to like this book but unfortunately, I just couldn’t get into it. I think the constant time shifts were a little too much for me to get to grips with.
Addiction to prescription pills, lying, adultery, stalking, this is a story about a married couple’s slow descent into self destruction. Some pretty confusing timelines (Before, After and Now for two protagonists). Not sure I really liked any of the characters, but their motives were clear and I enjoyed the POV of Rebekah, the main protagonist. I eventually caught up with the timelines and enjoyed the latter pages of the story.
Everyone has a secret….or in this case, secrets! Rebecca and Paul have a marriage full of secrets, drama and more. This story has so many loopholes that at times i had to double check each chapter that i was reading so i could keep track of whose secret i was reading. Interesting story and worth a read if you like not knowing what is going on till it is almost done.
