“Absolutely gripping.” —Louise Penny
For readers of Gillian Flynn and Tana French comes one of the decade’s most anticipated debuts, to be published in thirty-six languages around the world and already in development as a major film from Fox: a twisty, powerful Hitchcockian thriller about an agoraphobic woman who believes she witnessed a crime in a neighboring house.
It isn’t paranoia if it’s really happening . . .
Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.
Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.
Twisty and powerful, ingenious and moving, The Woman in the Window is a smart, sophisticated novel of psychological suspense that recalls the best of Hitchcock.

Okay
My absolute favorite book of 2017! Such a page turner and can not wait for the movie to come out! Loved the characters and all the twists. It was a very easy read. This novel was scary and haunting.
I’m usually very good at figuring out what’s going to happen in a book. THIS one had me fooled! There was one area I was able to figure out before it was revealed, but not the ending!
It starts out a little slow as you get a picture of this woman’s day to day life, fears and problems, but then it picks up and you don’t want to put it down til you’re done.
I’m anxious to see how it all plays out in the upcoming film.
I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to fans of suspense novels!
One of my favorite movies is Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock. This book (and soon-to-be movie) is very similar to that, except that the person looking out the window is a woman (Anna) and she’s not recuperating in a wheelchair. She is an agoraphobe which is why she’s always looking out her window. She lives alone but has a very handsome tenant that lives in her basement.
One day, while looking out her window, she is spotted by a woman who lives across the park and the woman comes over to visit Anna and they talk for a few hours. The next night, Anna looks out her window and sees something sinister which nobody else can prove. She begins to wonder if she even saw anything at all or if she completely imagined it.
I don’t usually see movies based on books but I sure hope the movie does the book justice.
I read this book in several days and the ending that I never saw coming It’s a real twister this is a really good book I recommend it to anyone

Evokes memories of Wait Until Dark with Audrey Hepburn, and may be intentional.
Great read! Will keep you guessing!
Kept me guessing to the end. Read this in one day. Couldn’t put it down. Great book
Does not live up to the hype. It was interesting enough to keep me reading but imo there is nothing new here. I figured out most of the twists before I was even 1/4 of the way through the book.
Good book with unexpected ending. I didn’t care too much for the style but wanted to keep reading to know how it would end.
Took a bit to get started but once in it’s a page turner
Took me a while to get into it but when I did I couldn’t put it down
Wickedly delicious. This book sucked me in and, try as I might to uncover the secret, I couldn’t figure it out! I loved the way this author told the story, it was unique and truly captivating. Would HIGHLY recommend.
A completely wonderful read. Great writing and a deliciously twisted ending! Much along the lines of “Gone Girl:.
Reminiscent of Hitchcock, this is a class A thriller. Anna Fox is unfortunate and frustrating. I found myself just wishing she’d take a shower and get dressed all through the book, but was pulling for her at the end. I had to read this one straight through, only getting up to refill my wine glass, haha. Nice job A. J. Finn.
Absolutely couldn’t put this book down until I reached the end. It seemed to have great pacing and the writing style just flowed naturally. It wasn’t as bleak/heartless as many psychological thrillers and the ending was exactly what it needed to be. Will be recommending to friends. Note–there’s language and a brief scene, but it’s not overly graphic.
Amazing!! My heart pounded and still haunts my dreams. What a knockout thriller! I’m looking forward to watching it on the big screen in May.
This book had a number of surprises; some sort of expected but not really and some totally out of the blue but fitting to the story. Enjoyed the read.
Not that great…anticlimactic ending.
