“Absolutely gripping.” —Louise Penny
For readers of Gillian Flynn and Tana French comes one of the decade’s most anticipated debuts, to be published in thirty-six languages around the world and already in development as a major film from Fox: a twisty, powerful Hitchcockian thriller about an agoraphobic woman who believes she witnessed a crime in a neighboring house.
It isn’t paranoia if it’s really happening . . .
Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.
Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.
Twisty and powerful, ingenious and moving, The Woman in the Window is a smart, sophisticated novel of psychological suspense that recalls the best of Hitchcock.

Like Girl on the Train, you aren’t sure that you want to know these people but you certainly want to follow the mystery to the end
It was the best thriller I’ve ever read. I found myself holding my breath, thought I had it solved, and then it turned another corner. I absolutely loved it. I’ve been telling all my friends to please read it, so I will have someone to dissect it with me.
When so many books in the mystery genre are formulaic, The Woman in the Window was not. Following along as the protagonist works through her personal demons while helping a neighbor, I thoroughly enjoyed the unpredictable turns in the story. A very good read!
Kept me reading chapter after chapter. The plot anticipated all of my predictions and then swiftly twisted in another direction. Very clever.
This book was an exciting, mysterious, page turner. One of the best books I’ve read in some time. It begins with a heroine who initially inspires little sympathy, the story develops greater and greater intrigue right through to the surprising ending. I thought it was a very good read!
This is of the – new?- genre of- is our lead character of entirely sound mind? Can we trust her perceptions? We want to believe- but- she’s behaving in some/ many ways that give pause. Ways that are open to multiple interpretations.
We suspect that what’s coming? We may be – more than a little bit surprised- or are we?
Great book. It has the reader trying to figure out what’s going on throughout the book and then has a surprise ending.
I enjoyed this book a lot. After a lot of thriller/mystery/psychological thrillers, this one made me slow down and read closely and examine and enjoy. The writer’s choice of verbs and pacing were top-drawer, and added much to the experience. The topical plotting was spot-on. I think this is a new author to me, but I will be scouting out other titles.
This book was hard for me to put down! It was well written, engaging, and I loved the twists and turns.
Oh the twists!
I was surprised by the twists and turns but got depressed by the main character! Just read that Amy Adams will be the lead in the movie.
This was, by far, my favorite book this year. It was a great thriller that kept me wondering. Just when I thought I’d figured things out, I was surprised, yet again! If you haven’t read it, grab it quickly. A must read!
I read this book because it got such great reviews. The first 3/4 of the book very slow and pick up at the end. Overall it was an OK read.
This book will keep you guessing right up to the end
Psychological thriller. Well done
I couldn’t put this book down. Kept me guessing till the end.
