“Absolutely gripping.” —Louise Penny
For readers of Gillian Flynn and Tana French comes one of the decade’s most anticipated debuts, to be published in thirty-six languages around the world and already in development as a major film from Fox: a twisty, powerful Hitchcockian thriller about an agoraphobic woman who believes she witnessed a crime in a neighboring house.
It isn’t paranoia if it’s really happening . . .
Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.
Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.
Twisty and powerful, ingenious and moving, The Woman in the Window is a smart, sophisticated novel of psychological suspense that recalls the best of Hitchcock.

The ending really surprised me. A good read
Very good read.
Wow I guess no wonder why its going to be a movie I cant wait to see it I was shock surprise never thought it was they said in the books i thought for sure appionted to the father but thats what the author wants you to think and why anna became house bond people come back to worn us have finish something before they can move on so is anna losing her mind maybe a little with the booze pills now with everything out in thevopen maybe now anna can move pass this and move on hap
I’ve never read a novel where the protagonist is agoraphobic but I’m very glad I read this one. The fact that Anna is a child psychologist is cream in the rich coffee of the novel. The reader gets to share Anna’s thoughts as well as her analysis of her own thoughts and actions as a professional. So you believe her. Then you don’t. Then you don’t know what or who to believe. You get to share her certainty and her doubts, her trust and distrust, her fear and her caring. The reader is trapped in Anna’s mind as well as in her house, and it feels like you could be there with her. My memory of the book includes each room of that house. I might even open that door someday and read Anna’s story again, something I rarely do. It is that good. Oh, and if is made into a movie, I’ll definitely go see it.
Enter a great list of characters, a subject with a condition which handicaps her and good writing and you’ve got a great story. This one checks those boxes. . . . . . a good entertaining read that has a bit of mystery, questionable players and asurprise to tie up the end.
I really loved this book, more than I thought I would, I found the character of Anna to be a very fascinating, complex, and complicated narrator. It has been a long, long time since I’ve read a book this good. I thought about it all the time, even when I wasn’t reading it.
Outstanding! One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Very unpredictable, could not wait to finish reading!!
This was a very predictable novel. I went into reading it expecting much more and I was disappointed. The author used a descriptive of the word arrow several times at the start of the book and it left me with a feeling of trite writing
Great book, will make a great movie!
A good read, made me want to find out what was going on!
I thought this was a very twisted story that kept my interest till the very end. Lots of psychological twists involved in the story. Very fast paced. Hard to put down! Loved it!
Keeps you guessing to it’s climax
I enjoyed this book!
Loved it!
What a great thriller and it made you feel like the main character.
Outstanding! Couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to see the movie!!
This book was filled with twists and turns and I couldn’t put it down. Very interesting and satisfying read.
Think suspenseful with tones of Alfred Hitchcock. I was totally stumped. Kept me intrigued throughout. It was a book club selection and we had a lively discussion.
I had trouble getting into this book, but once I did, it went quickly. It wasn’t so much the writing as the character that bothered me. I was irritated by her for some reason, and her drinking bothered me. Odd, I know…. Then the pace picked up and I flew through the book. I was at a week long sales meeting but I stayed up late to finish it. The characters were memorable and the end was satisfying to me. There were references to Hitchcock throughout, and the plot definitely resembled Alfred Hitchcock!
I felt the book was rather slow until I was about 65% done with it, then the story finally started moving. Once the story got moving it had some very good twists and turns that kept me guessing.
