“Absolutely gripping.” —Louise Penny
For readers of Gillian Flynn and Tana French comes one of the decade’s most anticipated debuts, to be published in thirty-six languages around the world and already in development as a major film from Fox: a twisty, powerful Hitchcockian thriller about an agoraphobic woman who believes she witnessed a crime in a neighboring house.
It isn’t paranoia if it’s really happening . . .
Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.
Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.
Twisty and powerful, ingenious and moving, The Woman in the Window is a smart, sophisticated novel of psychological suspense that recalls the best of Hitchcock.

Man did I love this novel! So Hitchcockian and very appreciated by this old movie buff. Keeps you guessing with some twists you won’t see coming.
First up, this is not the usual genre I would go for, and I don’t remember why I picked it up, but I’m glad I did! Talk about a page-turner. If you’re looking for a great vacation read, then look no further. In the view of ‘ Girl on a Train’ this is a mystery thriller that will keep you up at night. Super easy to read, but with a rich character list and a mystery that will keep you intrigued right till the bitter end.
Everyone in our book club found it entertaining and a quick read. Will the movie be better than the book?
I enjoyed Dr. Anna Fox’s voice and her insights. She was the right amount of sass sprinkled with self-awareness (at least it appears so as I read). The tension builds, creating a taut, psychological thriller. Nice pacing, interesting twists.
The beginning was a bit slow and depressing-as l you read about is a depressed woman. Later I became intrigued with trying to figure out the why and what. If you like Girl On a Train, this one is for you.
Drama. Intrigue. Suspense. This story kept me on the edge of my seat. Lots of interesting characters. And the ending jumped up out of nowhere in a way I wouldn’t have guessed.
This is one of the books where you read backwards. Just when you think you got it the plot twist.
Dragged on in areas that could be shortened
Loved this book. Surprising turns. Thriller.
Somewhat predictable but Finn’s writing is spectacular.
What a wild ride A. J. Finn takes us on in this incredible journey. I absolutely loved this book. It is truly one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. The characters are rich, the action so intense you literally feel like you’re right there. Spine chilling with a touch of humor, and emotions that will tug at you long after you finish reading it. Expertly written, every word is perfect in this amazing novel. I can’t say enough good things about it. Read it!
Loved this book. I’ve been craving another Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train. But this book was so much more for me than just a psychological thriller. It satisfied many parts of me: the mystery lover, the film noir fan, the psychotherapist. As Stephen King said, he really is “unputdownable.” I generally love “figuring it out” before the end of the book, but Finn had me second guessing myself right up to the conclusion. I was a character in that film noir — unsure, doubting, questioning. It was fabulous fun!
A little hard to follow but good ending pace!
Meh. Predictable. Full of tropes.
Enjoyed it thoroughly
I really needed a mental escape andnthis book did the trick!
I really enjoyed this book. It revealed surprises throughout!
Outstanding psychological thriller!!!!
One of my favorite psychological mysteries I couldn’t put the book down and never saw the ending coming!
Having just finished “The Woman in the Window”, all I can say is READ THIS BOOK!
“The Girl on the Train” is the book that first introduced me to this genre. And I’m hooked. So I was excited to read “The Woman in the Window” and I was definitely NOT disappointed. I don’t like over-the-top creepy stories, preferring the ones that make you think; the ones that pull you in to the characters’ minds; the ones that end in a surprising turn of events. And this book had all of those! Anna Fox’s circumstances are tragic, her connection to the outside world is fraught with fragility and ripe for misunderstanding. What she sees through the lens of her camera is, as with any picture, only a small piece of the whole. But the way A.J. Finn takes that small piece and weaves a whole story around it is incredible! Prepare to have a binge reading event with this one!!
