“Absolutely gripping.” —Louise Penny
For readers of Gillian Flynn and Tana French comes one of the decade’s most anticipated debuts, to be published in thirty-six languages around the world and already in development as a major film from Fox: a twisty, powerful Hitchcockian thriller about an agoraphobic woman who believes she witnessed a crime in a neighboring house.
It isn’t paranoia if it’s really happening . . .
Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.
Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.
Twisty and powerful, ingenious and moving, The Woman in the Window is a smart, sophisticated novel of psychological suspense that recalls the best of Hitchcock.

Loved this book…….kept me guessing till the very end.
This book is about an agoriphobic woman who witnesses a murder. You do not find out until nearly the end of the book that her husband and child are dead.
Mind blown!!
Loved it. Supersize ending
I cannot recommend this book. Its another in a long line of drunken women spying on the neighbors out the window. This plot has been done to death. There was nothing new or interesting in this one.
Like a Hitchcock movie, this is a thriller. Only gave 4 stars because there are several extraneous plot lines
I didn’t see the end coming, but the author left enough clues if I just followed them.
Originally found the book slow to get off the ground. However, the pay off was huge as the time spent laying details lead to some truly intense moments of utter suspense and horror as you began to pick up clues. Having the book focus on unreliable narrator kept me guessing at each turn and truly engaged for the last half of the novel as the carefully crafted reality began to unravel.
A fascinating stream of consciousness tale that explores the gap between imagination and reality.
A wicked page turner! I really like having Anna Fox as the main character and narrator. I think she was a great character.
Very unpredictable, I couldn’t put this book down! Plot twist was good!
To question your sanity will make you question everything. And then you have to ask was it real. And how long has it been happening.
If you listen to this on audio book get ready for a bubble bath and some candles that is the sexist voice I’ve ever heard.
I felt like the story dragged on in parts, and became very slow moving.
I disliked this book on so many levels. It was clearly written to be made into a movie. Sigh. The female lead is not a woman I admire in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER! So read at your own risk of losing time reading good novels.
Love this book. Read it in one day!
This book reminded me of “The Girl on the Train” as you wonder about the sanity of the heroine. It is well written with excellent characters.
Couldn’t put it down.
Just when I started to think this book was predictable, the story flipped upside down and completely surprised me for the ending!
The story of a psychologist who gives in to agoraphobia after a horrendous accident involving her husband and daughter.
For the first several chapters I kept thinking Rear Window.
Anna has a camera, an excess of wine, and nothing to do but watch from her window.
The story had a good plot and some awesome twists to lead you down the wrong path.
I’m not a fan of so much description but that is just me.
A good book I would recommend.
I thought it was ok. I’m not a huge fan of this genre, but I can say it kept me interested enough to finish this book and stay mostly interested from beginning to end. There were some times when things were slow. I wasn’t really on the edge of my seat in suspense. Anna was an ok character, but its clear that she has a lot of issues. I found Anna’s life to a little interesting. I was curious about her family and what caused her to suffer from agoraphobia. The way things unravel for Anna was crazy. She was truly questioning her own sanity which was her own due to environment she created for herself.
Anyways, The Woman in the Window was ok. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t dislike it either.
