In this tightly wound, enthralling story reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s works, Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first, Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant: the cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for–and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong…
With surprising twists, spine-tingling turns, and a setting that proves as uncomfortably claustrophobic as it is eerily beautiful, Ruth Ware offers up another taut and intense read in The Woman in Cabin 10–one that will leave even the most sure-footed reader restlessly uneasy long after the last page is turned.

The title is what I liked most about this book bc it seemed so mysterious and spooky. The main character is annoying, drunk and needs sleep so badly! You really want to cheer her on but in the end you would rather just slap her. There is a good twist I didn’t see coming. There are lots of characters but don’t worry bc they don’t really matter. I even made
a list bc I thought it would help keep people straight. I wouldn’t recommend this book. I donated it instead.
Lo Blacklock is a journalist for a travel magazine. When her superior is unable to go on an excursion on the luxury cruise the Aurora due to maternity sickness, Lo sees the assignment as an opportunity to shine. However, a few days prior to the departure, Lo’s apartment is burgled while she is inside…and she is anxious and at her wits end from fright. Add an argument with her beau, Judah, a week long escape seems just like the thing she needs to regroup her frazzled nerves.
The yacht aims to pamper its affluent guests with delicious meals and spa treatments. And, all seems glorious, until one night when Lo is certain that she heard a scream and a witnessed a woman’s murder. But, the crew seems hesitant to believe her, after all she’d been drinking and takes antidepressants, and well, cabin ten is vacant. Determined to be a voice for the woman in the water, Lo doesn’t realize the danger she putting herself in…will she survive Aurora’s maiden voyage, or will she be silenced before they reach port?
An excellent read filled with twists and turns until the very end.
It kept you guessing until the end.
Great read!
My first Ruth Ware book. Definitely a thrilling read. Constant twists and turns. The majority of the story occurs on a pleasure cruise and even in the tight confines of the boat with only a few suspects it seems bigger and broader. Definitely didn’t see that ending coming. I’m planning on reading another by Ruth Ware.
Good book, held my attention
Great story. Had me captivated from the start. Gave it my mom to read and she called me to rave about it. Now reading ‘death of Mrs Westaway.’
Thoroughly enjoyed this exciting book.
I could not put it down, literally. Stayed up until 1 AM to finish it.
Good mystery. Kept me guessing
If you are looking for a good thriller that is not overly graphic than I recommend this book. It’s about a journalist who has a scary break in right before heading on an exclusive cruise that she is covering for her magazine. While on the cruise she believes she is witness to a murder or did that murder really happen? Was it true or a huge cover up or all in her head? The book has twists and turns and gets you thinking about some of the passengers and what their motives are and if there indeed was a murder. I also found myself questioning the sanity of Lo Blacklock. The last 60 or so pages will get your heart rate up and you will turn into a speed reader trying to get to what happens next….. and just when you think it’s over….. well, I don’t want to spoil it for you.
Definitely a page turner, with so many twists that the ending is a “What-What”!!!! I just stared another one of her books “The Lying Game” and it’s got me on the edge of my seat!
couldn’t put the book down, twisted story.
This was an awesome summer read! The characters had depth and the entire story was suspenseful!
Did not particularly like the main character at times………..but got the impression, she did not like herself either. Several twist and turns with a surprise ending.
I liked the book and glad I read it. The only thing is it got to be a little bit repetitive so I got a little bored with it in the middle but I would I would recommend it I’m sure everybody that likes this time of type of book would like it. It was a little surprising and parts and that was a good thing was pretty much a luxury ship except for below decks and cabins so if you want a good read and a murder and of course a rich bad guy then pick it up or order it and you will enjoy it.
I loved this book. It really had a surprising ending.
I liked it. I kept trying to figure the mystery out, but every time I thought I had it, the plot changed! I couldn’t put it down.
I never read Ruth Ware’s books before now I am hooked. This is a wonderful book, not only a page-turner but what an ending. You will really enjoy it.
Not that great of a read. Sorry
