Finding your soulmate can be deadly… sorceresses are bound to alpha shifter mates, and pagan rituals are used to connect with the gods.
I know my mate is somewhere within the school… along with those who want my blood. A cult of dark magic is following my every move, and I have to master my powers before they come for me…
Ethan
I never meant to kill my own father.
What happened led to the loss of my leg, and my reputation as heir to the throne. I found a way to pay for my sins by playing the role of Prince Ethan during the day, and a vigilante hunting cultists by night. Keeping my secret identity hidden has been far more difficult than I imagined.
But now my kingdom is at stake. A new leader will be chosen through the King’s Contest, a fatal competition where contestants battle for power and, more often than not, die in the process. Without a mate, I cannot compete for the crown.
I formed an unbreakable bond with Emma upon first sight. But I have to keep my love a secret. Emma can’t know she’s my true mate; otherwise, she’ll be in more danger than ever before.
But the King’s Contest is rapidly approaching, and if I don’t choose a mate soon, the fate of my country will fall into the wrong hands…

Audio Review:
The Wolven Mark (Hidden Legends, University of Sorcery #1) is the first book in this fae academy series. I absolutely loved this new enchanting addition to the Hidden Legends universe. The world building aspect description and settings are well defined and detailed. A supernatural world with character angst and turmoil along with magic and supernatural abilities. A intriguing class system consisting of creatures, half breeds, royalty and wings bringing more adventure to the story. I absolutely love the characters Ethan and Emma and the cute banter between them. A dose of mystery evolving around the phantom. I enjoyed how the author included characters struggling with disabilities and immune diseases. I was drawn in right from the beginning till the very end. A so sweet perfection drizzling through to a stunning bombshell cliffhanger. I’m so looking forward to listening to book two when available.
Kim Reiko, Maxx Pinkins dual naration brought the characters and story to life. The naration was smooth and easy listening.
The Wolven Mark: A Paranormal Fantasy Fae Academy Shifter Romance (Hidden Legends: University of Sorcery Book 1) by Megan Linski , Hidden Legends is such an amazing story to read. This is book number one in this amazing start to a brand new series that I am so hooked on and can not wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about shifters, Fae, fantasy and paranormal romance.
I read a complimentary Advanced Reader Copy of this book & am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
I love this author and have loved so many of her books but this book just left me frustrated with the characters. I actually felt like the 2 characters that kind of bowed out towards the end and missed the final scene when everything fell, sick of them and sick of the lies and sick of the crap. The lies and lack of communication, the secrets and half truths all of it just got old. I understand these are college kids but this made them seem so much younger. I also realize that angst is what feeds the story but this was long and drawn out and then the ending just made me want to scream. He is a Prince who is fighting to win the crown of King for all of the right reasons. She is trying to understand a world she didn’t know existed and doesn’t know how to navigate. For all of the right reason they become friends but from the start he is lying to her and from there it doesn’t stop. While both of them are doing all they can for each other the lies and secrets pile up exponentially while their feelings continue to deepen. And this is their downfall.
Will I read more? Yes because one thing about this author is she will pull a rabbit out of the air, draw me into her stories and make me love characters I would rather choke, like very few YA authors can.
OMG this is a most excellent read that you will not be able to put down! Well written this incredible world where dragons breathe fire, griffins fly, alicorns battle and wolves hunt monsters here is an academy and this is where the supernatural, the magical go. With amazing world building this is full of magic, mythology and religion and has so many emotions and I just love Emma and Ethan! Please jump on this rollercoaster cause it’s one hell of a ride! Bring on the next book!!
This author is either hit or miss for me but since the stuff of hers I like, its straight-up love, I gave it a chance and I am glad I did. The intrigue, the passion, the new world hidden within our own. All of it is amazing and draws you in keeping you enthralled from start to finish. I loved Emma and how snarky and tough she seemed, but inside she was both strong and weak. Kind and cold. She was whatever she needed to be to survive. A trait I admire. Thrust into a world she fits into and does not belong in at the same time she perseveres however she can. Becoming tough when she must, showing weakness when she cannot hold it in anymore. A complex and wonderful character. I cannot wait for book two. (Also huzzah for the chick saving the prince once in a while).
The Wolven Mark is the first book in the Hidden Legends, University of Sorcery series and it got off to one helluva start. I really enjoyed this book, I had all the feels, I was happy, angry, embarrassed, terrified, pissed and so much more. I connected with the characters and I couldn’t help but love them, especially Odette, OMG I have to protect her and Emma sass reminds me of myself.
The world-building was amazing, it was full of magic, mythology, religion, a mix of cultures and all that with a fae background in a magical academy. Everything was lush, the magic system was interesting along with what was consider cultural norms for this group of magical people, plus their mythology which had a pagan based was very compelling. While I did have problems with some of the dated traditions about social class and such I did enjoy a lot of the traditions these magical beings have practiced.
Megan has created not only a varying magical world but she has a good representation of people that are outside of the social norm. This group of misfits has many different ranges to prove that not everyone is alike and while people can be different they can still accomplish such great things.
I did have a few problems with the book, one being that somethings seem contradictory to each other and that was a little confusing. Another thing was Ethan’s attitude toward Emma at times, I think it was a little too harsh at times and doesn’t seem to fit with what he was thinking and feeling, something about it is off at times. Other than that I enjoyed the story.
The story is told from multiple perspectives, one being Emma and the other Ethan, they are the main characters and everything revolves around them and their amazing group of friends. Emma is brave, determined, stubborn, sassy and smart while Ethan is driven, determined and an overall good guy. I love these two but both drove me crazy with keeping information from each other and them misinterpreting things, they are one of those couples who you just wish would just get their act together already.
The Wolven Mark had an amazing story that I kept me hooked. I was really excited to see what would happen next, to figure out where the overall arc of the story was going and what would happen at the end. As for the ending that was a major plot twist, I didn’t see it coming and I really need things corrected in the next book. I have so many questions about so many things and I am worried, so very worried about this group of misfits that I have become attached to. I am just going to have to suffer because the next book, Dragon Oath isn’t gonna be released for a while.
Truly a unique new paranormal series! The author did an amazing job of building this world. Good verses evil, love verse hate its a great read for young adults and adults both! Loved it cuz she nailed it!
Megan Linski’s The Wolven Mark: Hidden Legends: University of Sorcery Book 1 is filled with wonderful characters, and some not so wonderful. The world building is superb. An example is the beautiful descriptions of the history and special ceremonies of these Fae descendents – detailed and picturesque, all while holding your interest.
This is a typical good vs. evil scenario featuring university students, thrown into a fight to save their kingdom from the evil forces that would destroy it. What would you be willing to do to ensure evil did not ascend the throne? Would you access dark magic to accomplish your goal? If you failed your mission and your worst nightmare came true, what then? This is the delema our main characters and their friends find themselves facing
Prince Ethan lost a leg and his father the King was killed while battling the monsters that surround their kingdom. To continue his father’s legacy, Ethan must prove himself still worthy of the throne, even if he is crippled.
Emma just found out she has an incurable illness, and her life in Detroit has been a lie, oh ya, and she is not really human. She is an Arcanea from Malovia, a magical and dangerous kingdom. To help stave off her disease she relocates to Malovia and the University. Now she is in a totally new environment without family or friends and magic all around her.
Lots of magical action along with self growth, devastating secrets from the past and lots of political manipulations to keep you turning the pages. No HEA or steamy scenes, just lots of YA desires and misunderstandings.
After the surprise ending, it’s going to be difficult waiting to find out what happens next for Emma and Ethan.
I received an advance readers copy and am leaving my voluntary review.
The wolven mark is the beginning of what will be another great serie. Really got hook up for the starts and can’t wait to read the sequel. It’s in the world of Hidden Legend like the Academy of Magical creatures of Megan Linski and Alicia Rades. This world will also include Colleges of Witchcraft by Alicia Rades.
So in The Wolven Mark is the story of Emma, a girl who never belived that magic was real, until she was attack and kill a werewolf. Soon after that she received a letter from a supernatural school claiming that she’s a sorceress, a fae. And she’s drive into a world, of wolven, alicorn, griffin and dragons, in which sorceress and shifters are bound to each others has mate.
We also follow, Ethan, a wolven prince, who after a battle after a monster, was badly injured, and worse of all, got is father kill. Now is reputation and kingdom is as stake, and the next ruler will be know after a challenge name the King’s Contest. But if he want to participate, he will need to find is mate first. Or watch is kingdom falls into the wrong hands.
I have received an arc of this book from the author.
Emma believed she was human until a letter from a supernatural school arrived at her door. Emma soon learns that she is fae and that she is not the only creature in the universe with magic. Not only are there fae but there are werewolves, dragons, griffins and alicorns.
Before Emma found out she was fae with magic she was walking in the forest one night when she came upon a werewolf and she used magic to kill it. Emma had no idea what was going on or what she had done. But it wasn’t long after that she received her letter to attend the academy.
At the academy students compete in contest to see who will become king and queen. But before they can even enter the contest they must first find their soulmate and be bonded.
Emma doesn’t believe she will ever find her soulmate. She probably doesn’t even think she has one. She has never had any friends always being a loner. Until she meets the Phantom, a vigilantly that only comes out at night to save people and hopefully make the magical world a better place. Emma must find the true identity of the Phantom if she is to have a mate. But how was she ever going to do that?
The Wolven Mark is a great introduction into a brand new world of the University of Sorcery that is from the Hidden Legends world. Once I picked up The Wolven Mark I didn’t want to lay it down for a minute I just wanted to keep on reading. The world building was so immense and I loved all the characters especially Emma and Ethan. I love them together as a couple too.
From the first page The Wolven Mark amped up the excitement which kept the pages rolling. The contest was so intense. There were some very close calls for Emma and Ethan. There were times I didn’t know if they were going to make through. I can’t wait for the next book as that ending was a big twist that I didn’t see coming. Oh my.
I love this world so yes I highly recommend it all fans of wizardry, magic and magical creatures.
Wow! I know I shouldn’t be surprised at how amazing this story was especially since it’s in the same world as “Hidden Legends” but it’s down right thrilling!
Ethan is a great character, even with his flaws, he’s fantastic! Emma is a fantastic character with a wholesome yet fierce personality!
Once I started reading, I found it difficult to stop, outstanding characters, beautifully written world building and the storyline, oh my seven Gods! It was sweet but endearing, emotional but funny and all together fabulous!
