When twenty-four-year-old Cassandra Ambrosia foolishly puts her husband’s love for her to the test, the last thing she expects is for him to strip her bare, spank her until she is sore and sobbing, and then master her beautiful body more shamefully than she would have thought possible.Deo Ambrosia has been gentle. He has kept the fearsome, primal beast inside him hidden. But Cassandra’s rash … Cassandra’s rash words have unwittingly triggered an ancient curse which has plagued his family for generations, and if he is to protect his wife he must teach her what it means to be the mate of an alpha wolf. She will be made to submit, to obey, and to surrender herself to him completely.
As Deo dominates Cassandra more and more thoroughly, taking her hard and often and punishing her whenever she disobeys, her passion is rekindled and soon burns hotter than ever. But with a terrible evil closing in, Deo and Cassandra will need more than just their own strength and courage. Their entire pack will have to stand and fight together if they are to prevail.
Publisher’s Note: The Wolf’s Demand is the first book in the Shifters’ Call series. It includes spankings and sexual scenes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book. Also note that an earlier version of this book was previously published under the title Princess of the Pack.

This is one you need to give a chance. I enjoyed this one and I think you will also. I loved the characters and I can’t wait to get to the next book in this series. The secondary characters were great and I really hope they get their own stories. This one is worth your time and effort.
More than just erotica. Interesting plot and very colorful characters.
loved it.
Great read!!
Shifter’s Call, Book #1. A myth come to life! Maggie Ryan and Shanna Handel are simply brilliant!
Cassandra Ambrosia…tough, no-holds-barred attorney, unbeatable in court, used to having her way, and riding roughshod over her husband since before they were married. All that changes the night she announces, “I’m leaving.” In the blink of an eye, Deo, the gentle, almost milquetoast, husband she thought she knew becomes exactly what his Greek name means…godlike! There will be no divorce. The sacred vows they took will never be broken. And, just like that, Deo now rules. But Cass has no idea what she’s set in motion with those two words. Deo’s not what he seems. And the world’s just become unrecognizable. Soon Baal, Deo’s “associate,” shows up at Cass’ office to spirit her away. Wait! What? She can’t go home? She has to live in a castle in the backwoods of upstate New York, not just with Deo but her brother-in-law, Alekos, as well as Baal, Draco, Xander, and Auntie Maggie? Confused? Oh, no. Confused doesn’t begin to cover it! When Cass’ friends Cynthia and Andrew are pulled into this craziness, Cass demands an explanation. The question is, can she handle the answers? Seems Cass’ two words, “I’m leaving,” spoken in the heat of anger triggered something, something with horrendous consequences. And Deo, Alekos, Baal, Xander, and Draco? They’re all shifters! Now it falls to Deo to protect Cass, her friends, his pack, and his family from the evil headed their way. Only, is that even possible? Shifters aren’t indestructible. And what’s hunting them is pure evil. As Deo realizes he may not be enough to protect Cass, it falls to Draco, dragon and guardian, to share his burden. But what, exactly, does that mean? Can the pack know what’s coming and when? When the malevolence chasing them finally arrives, will they be ready? Can any of them survive? Only one thing is certain. In the midst of great evil, only the greatest of good and the purest of love can make a difference. The question remains, does that much good and love even exist?
This book is nothing short of breathtaking! Maggie Ryan and Shanna Handel have come up with such a unique story that it captivated me from the moment I started reading! The whole premise of this story is incomparable. One part paranormal shifter tale, another part hot, erotic romance, and yet a third part supernatural thriller, this story is unlike anything I’ve ever read before. I adored Cassandra. She’s more than intriguing. Strong, willful, and brilliant, she’s also incredibly intuitive, submissive, and utterly fearless. To be honest, I was totally unimpressed with Deo at the beginning. But when reality rears its head and leaves him no choice, his true nature literally comes roaring to the forefront. He’s the very epitome of dominance and leadership, but he’s capable of so very much more. When you add Alekos, Baal, Xander, and especially Draco, to the mix, this story explodes off the page into your very soul. The other characters, Andrew, Cynthia, Artem, Dolly, and Auntie Maggie, take this story to a whole other level of depth. I fell in love with this story. I was literally blown away by the brilliance of the characters, plot, and rich imagination imbued in the pages of this book. Maggie Ryan has long been a favorite author. This is the first book of Shanna Handel’s that I’ve read. These two authors have created a rare blend of paranormal, supernatural, romance, and classicism that is perfection. I guarantee I’ll be reading this entire series. The Wolf’s Demand deserves so much more than five stars! Congrats, Ms. Ryan and Ms. Handel! The bar for excellence has never been set higher or achieved better!
A final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the author. She works hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to a book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
I was only able to read about 5 pages of this book, horrified as I was at the theme of appalling and brutal spousal abuse, intimidation and control. For those who enjoy this sort of material, be assured that there is an abundance of it.
I found it disheartening, dismaying and depressing that anyone would want to either write or read such a work.
Lesson learned: read descriptions MUCH more carefully.
Disobedient wife taken in hand and here is the twist in the service of a greater good, i.e. saving the world. First time I’ve seen saving the world as a motive for d/s., but other than that twist, the entire thing is improbably built on sudden revelation of husband owning castles, being part of a clan that saves the world, etc…
Seemed to start in the middle of story. Hard to get into and kept thinking I was in book three of a series
Only got to about 45% of the book couldn’t get past that point. Sorry it just wasn’t for me.
