The Wives is a pure manipulative genius. Tarryn Fisher has done it again; she has given us a story that keeps us wondering what the heck we are reading to the very last word. I must admit that I am a huge fan of Ms. Fisher’s books and can honestly say that I have never been disappointed. This book delivers everything I have come to expect from Ms. Fisher and more.
Ms. Fisher has put together a handful of characters, most of which you will like, NOT AT ALL! These characters are masterfully developed, they are at times despicable and pitiful, but most importantly, they will keep you guessing. These characters will mess with your mind and test your limits of sanity. The Wives has it all, jealousy, envy, lust, obsession, and revenge. The plot, with all its twists and turns, is perfectly thought out, well written and utterly absorbing. There are some very dark themes in the book, but they add to the story in the most delightful way. The Wives kept me guessing; one minute, I thought I knew what was going on; the next moment, I didn’t have a clue; in other words, this book is a total mind…
I don’t want to tell too much of the story because I think when reading this type of book, it’s better to go into it a bit blind. The narrator of The Wives is sharing her husband with two other women. Her “day” to see her husband is Thursday, so that’s what we will call her.
“He comes over on Thursday of every week. That’s my day, I’m Thursday. It’s a hopeful day, lost in the middle of the more important days; not the beginning or the end, but a stop.”
Thursday and the other two wives are not allowed to have any contact with each other. However, Thursday, like any normal woman, becomes unhappy with this arrangement and becomes obsessed with finding out and meeting these two other wives. Do you want to know more about this book??? Unfortunately, that’s all you will get from me and my review.
The Wives is the perfect psychological thriller, and I highly recommend this book. If you have never had the pleasure of reading one of Tarryn Fisher’s books, you are missing out.

Omg! The Wives was freaking mind blowing! This story wasn’t at all what I was expecting. Tarryn Fisher wrote an intriguing, suspenseful story that kept me on my toes. I was captivated from page one. Didn’t want to put the book down because I always needed to see what was going to happen next. One moment I would think that I had everything figured out and the next I’d realize how wrong I was. I can’t write too much because I don’t want to ruin the story for anyone else. Just know that this is an amazing story and if you enjoy well written suspense, you will enjoy this book. One of the best I’ve read this year. Must Read.
Thursday was once an independent, driven nursing student. But when Seth approaches her and rocks her world, she finds herself falling for him. However, her feelings toward him are tested when, shortly after they’ve fallen into a comfortable relationship, he reveals he is a polygamist. Thursday, a devoted and self-sacrificing woman (thanks to nature AND nurture), agrees to share her husband with another woman whom she’s never met. But it doesn’t stop there; a year after their marriage, Seth informs her that a third wife is joining their tribe. Thursday is the master of burying her emotions, telling herself every day that she is fine with this arrangement. It’s fine that she sees her husband only two days a week, that the lips she kisses each Thursday evening were kissing other women earlier. She forces a smile on her face while asking the state of affairs of the other wives–her marital competition. But one day, a little inconspicuous piece of paper changes everything. A doctor’s bill she finds in her husband’s jacket with one name: Hannah.
Hannah.
Suddenly, Thursday is no longer able to squash her primal instincts. A journey that starts with one question: Who are my husband’s other wives? Quickly changes to: Who is my husband, and how dangerous is he?
As with Fisher’s previous books, the character development is outstanding. She masterfully weaves an action-filled plot with thrilling character arcs that twist your gut along with your mentality. This is a psychological thriller if I’ve ever read one. A must read!
This is my first time reading this author and I loved the story. The plot is original and very well written. There are some twists and turns in it and some heartache. It’s told by Thursday who is one of the wives and she goes through a lot. There are some triggers as this story does touch on different types of abuse. This is dark at times and is a definite page-turner. I loved this book, I loved the plot, I loved the author’s writing style, there is nothing to not love about this book.
The Wives

5 Stars
Well my goodness, this book certainly sucked me in! I mean just read the blurb and your interests are suddenly spiked. In your mind you are wondering how does this work. One husband, multiple wives. You know it goes on in the real world, now you get to hear the story from one wife.
In this story, the wives all have their own homes, own jobs, own lives. Totally different from each other, allowing the husband to have a different ‘flavor’ of the week. The wives don’t know each other and are referred to each other by the day of the week the husband visits.
This is Thursday’s story and what a ride it is!
You know the saying…
Curiosity killed the cat…
That dang piece of paper. The one folded perfectly and stuffed inside the pocket of your husband’s pants. The one piece of paper that you should not have looked at. The voice in the back of your head that you didn’t listen to. Telling you to walk away and not look at that piece of paper.
Thursday is the female that we all are… We took that piece of paper and ran with it. And this is where the story gets mind blowing and doesn’t stop until the Very. Last. Page.
This is a book that once that cover is opened, you will be sucked in and unable to put it down. Read each word and take in every scenario.
This was my very first book to read by this author. I’m blown away. Completely understanding now why my friends have all chastised me for not reading her before.

In true Tarryn style, this book has me bewildered. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC. I read it in three sittings. I have a copy on pre-order, as I need to have it for myself!
The premise of the story surrounds a man who has three wives, written from the POV of the second wife. She seeks to form connections with the others, even though that’s been forbidden. The book follows her search to find out more about her relationship and learning that things are not always what they seem. I would say this is more of a thriller than a romance. It kept me on the edge of my seat. The twists and turns were definitely twisty! There was one point where I went back and reread an entire chapter to make sure I hadn’t missed something.
As the story fleshed out, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I kept expecting certain things to happen, but they never did. That’s what makes a great thriller, I suppose. I’m not going to go into any detail, because there’s not much to be said that wouldn’t be a spoiler.
This is a book that I have the urge to reread, now that I know how it ends. To go back and look at things that were said, clues that were given. I’m not sure what I’m looking for, or that I’d find it, but it’ll definitely be worth a reread. I’ll wait for the final edited version and dive back in again!
If you loved I Can Be A Better You from Tarryn, or books like Girl on the Train, you will love this story. It has that type of vibe.
