Lots of cattitude!
A new mystery for Misty Friday. A light-hearted paranormal witch cozy that was so fun! This time she’s off to England!
And I love that there’s now a cat in this series! I love cats! Can you say ‘snark’? Because that’s one snarky cat!
This mystery had me guessing until the end. Oh yeah, this is a binge-worthy series! Guess what I’ll be reading next?
The Witching Hour is Book 2 in His Ghoul Friday Cozy Mystery Series.
I am absolutely LOVING this series. This book is a stand alone story, but I highly suggest reading [b:A Tale of Mer-der|44543007|A Tale of Mer-der (His Ghoul Friday Book 1)|Morgana Best|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1553047461s/44543007.jpg|69129491] its equally as fantastic. I do love cozy paranormal books and the author has done a great job with this series.
I really like how complex the protagonist Misty Friday is. She is a strong woman that is relatable. Misty is an Australian journalist for a paranormal publication and receives a mysterious letter requesting her to go to England to see her elderly Aunt. When she arrives at her Aunt’s home she is found dead. Misty knows that the death is suspicious, she just has to prove it before she’s the next victim.
We also get to meet Merlin, the snarkiest of cats! I love him and I am excited to see what he will be up to in future books. The story line is so complex and well written that I had no idea who had committed the murder. The other characters in the book were also very well thought out. I could relate with Misty because she was always trying to get her hit of coffee, and it was not to be found. I laughed so hard when she attempted to make her own coffee without a coffee pot of any kind.
The details the author described in the history of the area were so detailed I felt like I was right there.
You do not want to miss this book , I cannot wait for the next book to come out. This is already becoming a favorite series of mine.
I loved this book. Even though it’s the second book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone. Misty gets word from her aunt in England that she has something that she must give to her in person. Just as she gets there, she finds her aunt dead and she is forced into more intrigue than she was really looking for. I’m looking forward to the third book because of the things that occur in this book.
This storyline is really getting intense. Misty gets a letter that her aunt has something she needs to give her. So Misty goes to England only to find her aunts body. As she knows no one there, she doesnt know who to trust. She decides that she needs to find out what happened to her aunt and soon realizes that her aunt was murdered. Enter, Cassandra, the neighbor, and Douglas who says he knew her aunt as a friend. Her old friend whom she calls Aunty June, has bad feelings about the whole situation and tells Misty not to trust anyone. Then mystery man, John Smith appears in England too further complicating everything for Misty. As the mysteries get more intense, the missing page that everyone wants needs to be found before anyone else is killed for it I really enjoy this book because you never know whats going to happen next..and more importantly ,who can Misty trust? Handsome John Smith or strange Douglas? I have one issue with this book that isnt a bad writing situation, its just not something that interests me..and that is the story has too much historical facts in it. Im not sure if its important to the story, but for me, it takes away from it, so I just skipped over those parts. For that reason, I only gave it 4 stars..but the storyline itself would be a 5 star.
THE WITCHING HOUR
Misty Friday is called to England to visit her Aunt Beth. Misty cons her magazine company to allow her to go by investigating local paranormal sites in the area. She arrives and her aunt is dead. Mysterious people keep showing up.
This is a tangled book of scenes as Misty tries to sort out her aunt’s story which seems to mesh with the story for her magazine.
I am getting attached to this series. In this book Misty is in England after her Aunt Beth sends her a letter requesting to see her. Upon arrival Misty finds her Aunt Beth has died. Misty goes to her Aunt’s house and interesting things start happening. As Misty meets the people who knew her Aunt questions arise. What was her Aunt doing? Did she die naturally or not? Nope, not telling. I loved seeing familiar names and reading about them in this story. That was a surprise for me. I’m not use to that even in paranormal cozy mysteries. It was wonderful! Aunty June makes an appearance, I’m happy to report. I really like her. A new member of the family is also introduced. I’m looking forward to more on that once they return home. There are also a couple of characters that I’m wondering if they will show up again. I’m thinking they will and it will keep things interesting. I had a good time reading this book. It was interesting and fun. I’m betting you will too.
This is the second book I have read in this series and it just keeps getting better. The mystery and intrigue flowed throughout the book and it was hard to tell who could be trusted and who could not. A very well plotted story. Hope the next book in the series lets us know how Merlin progresses and more information about the mystery and secrets hinted at in this book. Highly recommend this book to all mystery lovers.
So hysterical if you have a good sense of humour. Misty Friday gets sent of to England to write on more paranormal columns for the company she works for. She gets there and finds her Aunt dead. The mystery starts from there. I highly recommend this book and the first one as this is the second.
verbal-humor, situational-humor, England, witchery, danger, ghosts
Misty received a letter from England asking her to come immediately but the reason is not really clear. So she talks the head of the paranormal tabloid magazine she works for into paying the airfare so that she can stay with the relative and write some articles he wanted. But when she gets there, she finds a cantankerous cat and the recently deceased body of her Aunt Beth. And then the confusion began! Historical mischief, odd happenings, misdirection, and more! And more laughs than ever!
