What a great Closed Room Paranormal Murder Mystery!
The first four Mystic Springs books were about Connie and Sage, written in first person present tense. This book was totally different: about witches Violet and Ellie, and written in past tense. Did I have to get used to that? No! I was immediately swept away, to an isolated castle, where the magic school is situated. I knew that Violet was a witch. And a powerful one at that. But Ellie! I didn’t know that. But she’s just a clumsy witch with powers that are mediocre at best. She thinks. Violet took an immediate liking to her, and so did I. Violet is a hoot (eccentric, reclusive) and Ellie so sweet (insecure but learning).
A closed room murder. A raging storm means they’re trapped – with a killer. Someone needs to step up. Violet and Ellie investigate, with the help of Ellie’s privileged-yet-fun friend Crystal.
And I loooved it! LOVE! Highly entertaining! I did NOT want to stop reading.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was entertaining and fun to read about a place that not everyone had fond memories of. Then you have murder and no way to get the people needed to help out. It is a fun turn of events that has the characters working together to find the solution.
I would recommend this book to people to read.
Great easy read. Clean with engaging characters. Had me guessing till the end. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Awesome book!! Absolutely loved the characters
Ellie groans when she receives an invitation to a school reunion. She didn’t have a “best years of her life” experience at Winifred’s, an exclusive school for witches. With prodding from her best friend, Crystal, Ellie allows herself to be dressed up and dragged back to school. As much as Ellie dreaded going back, she didn’t expect that it would literally be murder to go. With the help of Violet, a very powerful and well-respected witch, Ellie investigates the murder.
I loved that this was a classic closed room mystery. There were plenty of despicable people that it was easy to pin the blame on. I was definitely kept guessing! Using dual points of view added a lot of depth to the story, and I enjoyed getting to know Ellie and Violet.
Mona Marple is an excellent storyteller, and The Witches of Mystic Springs is no exception. This is the fifth book in the Mystic Springs series; however, it can easily be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel.
Many thanks to Ms. Marple for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this mystery.
This is a great paranormal story. A school of witches on a remote island what could go wrong? I loved the dual POV this is the first book I have read by Mona Marple but it won’t be my last. This is part of a series but reads like a stand alone
I received this book as an ARC copy and decided to review it voluntarily
This is the 5th book in the Mystic Springs Paranormal Cozy Mystery series; I have read the rest of the series, but this book works well as a stand-alone. This book focuses on fun new characters and is about a class reunion for a school for witches. Ironically, my own high school class reunion is this weekend! Class reunions can be nerve-inducing and this one is no exception. There is a murder to solve; the plot is well-done and entertaining. I highly recommend this book and series. I was provided a free ARC of this book, but these opinions are my own.
Oh what a tangle web we weave. This was my first book by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The setting was one of the mysterious places I would want to visit. For the character who did not want to go to the reunion, she ended up realizing she was missing out with not having individuals in her life. I will definitely read more books by this author.
