~ 3 Witchy Wolf Stars ~
The Witch Who Cried Wolf is book one in the Cry Wolf series by Sarah Mäkelä. This story has witch’s and werewolves’s things I enjoy reading about, but it needed to be longer to develop more of the world and characters. It’s a descent start to the series.
Mia our witch. At times I liked her and at others I got frustrated with her. She lets fear stop her from being the best she can be. I’m not sure if I ever felt her get stronger in this story. I was also confused with her lack of knowledge of the supernatural world and her witchcraft. It mentioned she read her grandmas grimoire, so why the lack of knowledge? How long did she have these powers? When did they start showing? So you can see it was hard to really connect to Mia or figure out what was going on without asking myself questions throughout this book.
Ethan our solder guy and long time crush of Mia’s. I wanted more of his story. We don’t get a background story on him. We do get a mention that his parents died in a car accident, but not when this happened. Their is also a promise Ethan made to Mia’s brother, but not what it was or why. Last we are left wondering what happens next for him now that he is a werewolf.
Mia’s mentor Jessa the owner of a magic shop, we are left with her in the hospital. Also Mia’s brother it feels like something is going on with him. Not sure. I’m curious to know what’s up with him.
As you can see many questions/things are left un-answered which I hope get answered as the series progresses. Lots of things need to be flushed out more. The one thing I did like was the POV mixed narrative. It was always clear who you where reading about. It was also nice to finally see Mia and Ethan hook up. The sex was mediocre and we only get one sex scene at the end. I had trouble connected to this book and fully enjoying the story with all the question’s and lack of world development.
The Witch Who Cried Wolf is an ok start to the Cry Wolf series. Many things need to be flushed out and hopeful the author will take care of this as the series moves on.
Action packed, ended abruptly. Would like more of an ending
Very hot characters. I think it was a good read after a crazy work day. Keeps you engaged and lets the mind relax and dive into the story.
Excellent read! Highly recommend!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The only one I’ve read by this author so far.
It was a fun read.
Very entertaining
Fantastic plot, wonderful characters, and a great story! Loved it! After a potion to heal turns deadly, things heat up! With lots of magical mistakes, mix ups, mayhem, drama, danger , serious and deadly twists and turns. A rouge werewolf, witches and childhood friends are throw together to try to right the wrongs and undo the damage. Will it be to late?
Hard to put down!
Was so into the storyline that I read the whole series.
Can’t wait for more!
Paranormal romance is my favorite and this book is on it’s way. As a start to a series, it’s good. Mia has powers that no one else in her family has or knows about. Her friend Jessa, a practicing witch, is her mentor and trying to help her get stronger in her magic. Mia makes a magical salve for one of Jessa’s customers with dire results. Nobody mentioned it was for a werewolf.
Mia’s had a super crush on her brother’s best friend, Ethan, forever. Ethan has also had feelings for Mia about as long. Nolan, Mia’s brother, found out a long time back about Ethan’s feelings and tried to beat them out of him. Trying to keep his bff, he stays away from Mia.
I was perturbed with Mia wimping out with her creep boyfriend, Greg. I loved the was Ethan stood up for her. She is trying to be so strong and just lets him run over her. It was great when she finally stood up for herself. I love that they, Mia and Ethan, are gonna try and deal with everything together. Nolan just needs to step back. Mia is grown and Ethan is a great guy. Can’t wait for the next one.
Fun, easy read.
Enjoyable and easy to read story about a witch trying to learn about her powers whilst keeping her family ignorant. Mia and Ethan are drawn into a werewolves power play and things are not quite as they seem.
3.5 stars
is good
Mia is asked to make a healing salve for metal poisoning by her friend Jessa . She doesn’t realize she’s about to become involved in danger. To complicate matters, her brother’s friend, Ethan, a long time crush, has come back to town. She may need to combine forces with him to survive. The Witch Who Cried Wolf is an exciting and steamy introduction to the Cry Wolf series which I will be following.
Mia is a witch, but she hides it from almost everyone she knows. She’s also a bit of a pushover (she finds it hard to say no) she makes lotions and potions for her friend to sell in her shop. And she makes a few for herself. She really should be practising more, but Mia would rather potter about with her magic than practise (she keeps being told she’s wasting her potential) to become a great witch.
Ethan is home for the holidays (well not his home, but to the family that treat him like a member of their family) he was expecting his best friend and brother to pick him up, what he got was his worse nightmare, Mia has been like a little sister to him, and watching her grow up, he always thought he would see her that way, but an incident changed the way he saw Mia forever. He shouldn’t be having those thoughts about her, and instead of a great reunion, he’s cross that’s she’s come to collect him.
Leaving the airport Ethan and Mia are attacked by a huge wolf!!! Ethan is bitten, Mia is scared it’s more than just a normal wolf bite!!!
Mia has to tell Ethan that she’s a witch, and there is a whole world that exists within this world…..
Does Ethan turn into a Wolf?
Will he accept Mia’s paranormal side?
And who is trying to kill Mia?
And will Mia finally accept her witchcraft heritage?
I found it a little eyebrow raising that Mia didn’t believe werewolves existed (she’s a witch, so why wouldn’t there be other paranormal creatures out there?)
Nothing special
Mia is a young woman who knows she has witchy powers. Her grandmother was a witch but Mia has kept out of it. Her best friend, Jessa, has become her mentor. She;s gone to Jessa’s shop to talk to her and gets pushed into helping one of her customers. To top all that her brother pushes her into picking up his best friend, Ethan, coming home on leave. Shes had a crush on Ethan since she was little and it’s hard. She withdrew into herself when he left for the military. She’s in a relationship with a man she has come to dislike. But doesn’t want to break up until after the holidays. At the airport, she and Ethan are attacked by a werewolf who claws Ethan. Mia takes him home to doctor his wounds hoping it will keep him from changing. Unfortunately it doesn’t and Ethan is slowly becoming werewolf. Into this mix the wolf who ask for a potion comes back for more and threatens Mia and her family and friends. Then another wolf shows up wanting her help but with something to cure his father, the alpha. That’s when things go from back to total disaster. How is Mia and Ethan survive all the dangers coming from every direction. On top of that the wolf in Ethan has laid claim to Mia as his mate. Now what’s everyone going to do to survive!
WOW! Fantastic story and read that will keep you enthralled till the last page. Make sure you have a snack handy because you won’t want to put this story down!!
This book was okay, it moved to slow, and was all over the place. I don’t like cliff hangers, or series. I do not like the way it ended.
