“The bluest of blood, the boldest of hearts; the de Montforte brothers will take your breath away.”
England, 1776: Lord Gareth de Montforte is known as an irresponsible rake with a heart of gold. When he takes a bullet for boldly thwarting a stagecoach robbery, he is stunned to discover that the beautiful young woman he has heroically rescued, Juliet Paige, is his deceased brother’s American … American fiancée, accompanied by her infant daughter. Despite his brother the duke’s refusal to acknowledge Juliet, Gareth is determined to do right by the courageous woman who crossed an ocean to give her baby her rightful name. But Juliet is wary of marrying this black sheep aristocrat, even while she is hopelessly charmed by the dashing devil. Never has she met anyone who embraces life so thoroughly, who makes her laugh, who loves her so well. And, even when it seems the odds are against them, Juliet has absolute faith that Gareth will go beyond the call of duty, risking his life itself to give her and her daughter a home — and a love that will last a lifetime.

Simply wonderful. An unlikely hero (on the face of it), a heroine I would love to have as a friend, and a plot that is by turns romantic, heart-rending, exciting, and suspenseful. It’s the first in a series of four books and you won’t be able to stop yourself reading them all.
I liked the book because ir was entertainement with acción , adventure and romance
Enjoyed it so much. Just kept reading, did not want to put it down. Look forward to the next in series.
Entertaining and good. Now I want to read the rest of the series.
Ms Harmon is a writer who knows her craft as well as any. This book kept my attention from start to finish and it never took a misstep. Though by modern standards her characters sometimes appeared a trifle stereotypical, I believe they are true to that time in English history. I wish today I knew people as honorable and true to principle as Juliet …

This story takes place in 1775/76. Our hero number 1 is in America as an officer in the King’s army, falls in love and fathers a baby of a colonial.

A fun read, with an epilogue leading both back to the beginning of this one, and onto the next novel. Don’t skip to the end to find out! Leaps of faith by both protagonists, but a willingness to forge ahead and see where they go with their hard work and determination.
A great read.
What a fun read! Enjoyed both the primary and secondary characters. While the story line was a bit of a stretch for the imagination, it was a fun story (and fiction after all.) I’ll definitely read the next in the series!
This book immerses you in the time of the Revolutionary War successfully. I liked the main characters, along with all their flaws. The plot has many turns, and lots of detail that keeps it interesting. I will be looking forward to others in the series.
Love this book, this is my second time reading it!!! Love the characters Amazing book
Loved this book! I’ll keep looking for future works from this author for years!
Wonderful
Juliet comes to England to her daughters father’s family for help and ends falls for Gareth, not meaning to because she stilled loved Charles. But she leaves and he follows because he feels he needs to protect her and Charlotte.
I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down reading far into the night. I was great to experience a story where honor and integrity were at the forefront!
Good story and great characters
This page turner endeared me to the main protagonists within the first few pages. Their romance was believably unforced which made the passionate aspects of their union more steamy. I found the twist at the end interesting enough to make me want to read the other books in the series.
Well written enjoyable
