This one barely made it to 4 stars. It took me so long to connect with Mauricio and Wren. I had such a hard time feeling their chemistry. But once I tipped over the 50% mark I was feeling glad I kept on with the story. Having the Romano family involved helped bring some life to their tale. That family bond is definitely something I could feel. Plus it seemed they were more relaxed with each other which felt believable. Their humorous banter was easy going compared to how it was in the beginning.
I will say, I’m not feeling the purpose of the whole mystery around Dominic Corisi in the story. I was slightly intrigued from the first book but now it just feels like it’s a distraction. Had I known this was connected to a character from another series, I would’ve read that series first so I could understand his appearance in all this.
So excited to get the continuation of this series! With the little insight we got in the last book about Mauricio, I was interested to see how he fell in love. Wren really throws him through a loop in that what starts as a fling in Paris turns into so much more. She is fiercely independent and values family while also having a quirky personality and is more of a realistic character, which adds to the storyline. I love that we get both POVs to see how Mauricio changes his thinking and views through meeting Wren, but also see how he changes Wren’s life in going after what she wants. After some confusion between the characters and some strong words, thankfully things resolve themselves and this couple not only gets their HEA, but Wren also gets to live out her professional dreams thanks to Mauricio. Something I really enjoy about this series is the dual storyline, and the anticipation of that storyline coming to fruition really intrigues me. I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
While on vacation Wren decides to cut loose and enjoy life a little. What could it hurt to have a little fling, that is until the heart becomes involved. Mauricio was a temptation worth the risk even if he was cocky. All he wanted was a good time but when he gets a feeling she’s the one he can’t believe it. After seeing his parents so happy he knows it’s possible just never believed it was for him. When things take a sudden change and feelings are hurt it takes a lot of convincing to get back in her good graces. As they work on an important project that will change lives Wren feels like she’s finally chasing her dreams. When all your dreams come true the only thing left to do. ….bring her dad a cow (you’ll get it once you read it) once again Ruth Cardello knocks it out of the park. Wrens best friend Cecile is a trip, I’d love to see more of her.
Everything worthwhile in life is a risk
Set in beautiful Paris, France Ruth Cardello gives you the wonderful story of Mauricio Romano and Wren Heath. This book is witty, emotional and full of family love as these two struggle to find if what they have is a true relationship.
An incredible page turning read.
Everyone should have a “Wild One” Paris vacation at least once in their lives. But get the book. Then you can have it as often as you like!
This has little to do about the story, but I absolutely love the character names Wren and Mauricio. The characters were pretty fantastic too. I enjoyed getting to know Wren and her journey to figure out what she really wants to do with her life and the contrast with Mauricio who is on a similar journey. This is the second book in this series and I have to say I’m really digging the Romano brothers. One thing that sets this book and series apart from others is the secondary story with Dominic, a character from one of Ruth’s first books, which currently seems to have little to do with the primary story, but will obviously interact in the future. I like that it is tying the books together with more than just a common family like most romance series.
This book was one I found hard to rate because I had mixed feelings about it. I finally decided because it did have more good points that it deserved 4 stars on Amazon. It did contain more story than just the sexual fling.
Okay, now I knew this was going to be an adult story. But did there really have to be so many “F” words in the story? From even the first few beginning chapters, I lost count. So if you needed to be warned you have been now. This story was filled with history, some engineering references, sex and sexual foreplay. But the blurb of the book should have prepared us for the sexual angle right?
On the plus side though, there is a good amount humor, affection, family interactions and interesting main characters. Both Wren and Mauricio had close, loving family members in common. I did enjoy seeing them being there for each other even if it differed a bit in each family.
Mauricio is used to women falling at his feet and he finds Wren intriguing. Oh, he knows she’s attracted to him. But she is shy, blunt and funny, all the things he wasn’t expecting. She’s a breath of fresh air that isn’t all that impressed with some of his ways.
Wren had so many weights on her shoulders. A job she doesn’t love, her family to help and a father she doesn’t know how to help. One of the reasons she just wanted to do something wild for herself. I thought Wild One was about Mauricio but as the story went on Wren could also grab part of that title.
Dominic Corisi part of the story I found kind of irritating. Why? Because I had read a bit about him in a previous book. And in this one he had a chapter at the beginning and a chapter at the end that was more like a teaser. Although from the information in that last chapter it now looks like Dominic is now on a tear. And he’s looking to unleash some pain.
“I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.”
Paris, Paris…
I am absolutely loving this series and the men in the Romano family. This time it is Mauricio’s turn to realise that his prior playboy ways don’t seem quite as fun when the boot is on the other foot, and I just loved Wren.
I also have to say that the undercurrent of the Corisi family secrets is literally KILLING me. I am all kinds of agog as I read about young Judy Corisi, whose active and tenacious brain causes both pride and pain in her father as she forces him to remember the childhood he wishes to forget. So, what an earth is going on, and how is the Corisi family connected to Sebastian and Mauricio Romano???
I’m taking notes like a demon, and making lists! I want to try and figure out the connection before the information is handed out to us, but like all authors, Ruth Cardello will reveal all in her own time. Another 5 Star fun, witty and hot read
The Wild One is Book 2 in Ruth Cardello’s Corisi Billionaires series. You will need to have at least read Book 1 and hopefully some of her other books to understand the beginning and end of this story! If you’ve read her Legacy Collection you should be well familiar with Dominic and some of the other characters mentioned. If this is your first time picking up a book from this author you will have hard time following that part but should still enjoy the internal story featuring Mauricio and Wren.
Mauricio had always been a bit of a wild one, not settling down and living the free life. He had to step into more responsibility with the family business for awhile but now things are on track so he goes on a bit of vacation to see what he wants from life.
Wren can’t help but be intrigued by Mauricio when she meets him. When her friend decides to go home to London Wren decides not to miss the once in a lifetime opportunity to explore Paris. All the better Mauricio seems set in exploring it with her and being her dream man for a week. The hard part for her is trying to remember it’s not forever.
This story is filled with so much sweetness seeing all the things Mauricio does as he’s realizing how he actually feels. I love how family again plays such a central role in this story. We get a bit from all sides with how dedicated Wren is to her own and get to see more of Mauricio’s family and how they adapt and embrace Wren. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next.
The Wild One is the second book in the Corisi Billionaire by Ruth Cardello. I love this Series. I truly loved this book!
This story is Mauricio story. Mauricio is the support of brother who would do anything for his family. When Sebastian is ready to take back the reins of the company Mauricio must find his next place to be. Bring in Wren. She is struggling with what you she want for herself in life but still need to be there for her family.
Mauricio and Wren time in Paris fun, loving, and so much. I love both Mauricio and Wren and how they play off each other. There spark. Everyone needs a little “Paris” in their life. This book was a great story of find oneself while finding the one.
This book is a must read. Five stars. I love Ruth Cardello and her books!!!
I received a free copy of this book from the author.
If you’re a fan of contemporary billionaire romances this book is for you! Wren and Mauricio meet in Paris by accident. He agrees to meet her for some touristy adventures and then you could say the rest is history.
Except it isn’t. These two start out with assumptions about each other that turn around to bite them in their butts. You know, sometimes your friends mean well but they don’t always have the most accurate information. That certainly doesn’t help either Wren or Mauricio in their story.
Of course I could rant all day about communication and how it’s key to every type of relationship. These two fail to really communicate with each other and it is damaging to what they find themselves building.
One of my favorite parts of the book is their tour through Paris. It’s one of my favorite cities and I can just envision their path around the city. Do you ever find yourself doing that with books you read?
Anyway, I hope you like this story. It’s an easy story to get wrapped in and pulling for your favorite couple to pull through as you know only they can.
The Wild One is the second in the Corisi Billionaires series, but it can be read as a standalone. All of Ruth Cardello’s books are somewhat loosely interconnected across series as well, but you don’t need to read them all to enjoy any one.
The Wild One is the story of how Maruicio and Wren find each other and fall in love. Their story starts with lust, passion, and the fantastic setting of Paris. Neither of them is looking for love and a long-lasting relationship, but slowly their story goes from pure lust to intrigue and fascination to long-lasting love that neither of them saw coming.
The Wild One is a well-written love story with a happy ending from a reliable author that always provides just enough drama but not too much angst, an abundance of feelings, and two characters that realize they have exactly what the other needs.
Great setting, sizzling passion and stirring emotion
4.5stars
This story was a winner for me with all of the key elements I look for in a romance and a bit more. The main couple, Mauricio and Wren, are both looking for something more from life and suddenly appear to find it after their chance meeting. Their close family relationships, especially Wren’s with her PTSD-riddled father and Mauricio’s unquestioning support for his brothers (and vice versa), added a depth to the emotional component to the story. This couple oozes physical attraction, but their conversation does not (ad nauseum) revolve around it. And while the romance is the hub of the story, Wren’s need for career fulfillment balanced against her family’s needs gets serious attention and her man understands that!
Every good romance needs some hurdles to overcome and this one has just enough without getting angstful. And when it comes to a setting for the couple’s first, heady days, who could beat the sights and tasty treats of Paris?!
I really enjoyed this book, its fast pace and its fine-tuned focus on the essentials.
Thanks to publisher Montlake Romance and NetGalley for providing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
3.5/5
First book that I have read from this author. It was an ok read for me. Standalone in the series so if you don’t read the first book you are not missing anything. Good characters and story that will keep you interested but it does read a little predictable.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Another romantic adventure into the Corisi world with Author Ruth Cardello takes us to Paris where we get to take a tour through her character’s eyes. Wren and Mauricio decide that a whirlwind affair is the way to go when two people from different worlds meet and the attraction is that strong, little do they know that the world isn’t as big as they originally thought. A wonderful story that leaves you feeling like all is right with the world.
Breathtaking Parisian fling turns into forever!
Wren and Mauricio meet at the home of a mutual friend in Paris, and to say that sparks fly instantly is like saying Paris is a nice little city. These two are quickly in way over their heads; Wren doesn’t do casual relationships but just can’t resist the chemistry with Mauricio, while he’s never even considered anything but casual with anyone yet he finds himself calling his dad for advice on how to make this permanent. It’s a beautiful, whirlwind romance that incorporates the city’s landmarks every step of the way. I’ve read a lot of books set in Paris, but seeing it through Wren’s eyes was a real treat.
The real crux of any relationship is how it fares after the initial start-up phase, and for Wren and Mauricio, who are both at a crossroads in their respective careers, finding their path forward is more complex than just admitting their feelings for each other. I really enjoyed the “cow” that Mauricio arranged; it was inventive, original, and absolutely perfect for the situation. Their HEA was melty-sweet and very satisfying.
As with the previous book, this one has a couple seemingly unconnected chapters related to Dominic Corisi’s family history, but most of the story is the romance between Wren and Mauricio. There are a couple foreshadowing clues dropped throughout the book that alert readers will easily piece together, and I am really looking forward to reading more in this series to see how this storyline develops. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Parisian Chemistry!
The Wild One by Ruth Cardello is the second book in the Corisi Billionaire Series, but it’s the first one that I’ve read and I had no trouble jumping right in on this steamy stand-alone. We get some hints of the back story and the ongoing threads that connect the series – enough to understand what’s going on but not enough to be tedious if you’ve read other books – perfect!
This story is about a chance meeting-turned vacation fling-turned great love between Wren and Mauricio. I really loved Wren’s character. She’s loyal, smart, sassy and fun. She has made up her mind that she’ll go all out enjoying her week in Paris, and she sets about to do exactly that. She meets Mauricio along the way via a “friend of a friend” encounter, and they have instant chemistry on both sides. Seeing Paris through Wren’s eyes renews his enjoyment for the City of Love, and the two have an idyllic and amazing week together. When Wren has an emergency that forces her to leave unexpectedly, she’s so caught up in what’s going on at home that she doesn’t handle it well when she and Mauricio part. Thanks to family members who are determined to make this match happen, they eventually find their way to their HEA.
I was hooked from the start – no putting this book down! Ms. Cardello does an amazing job pulling the reader into her stories and painting incredibly vivid and detailed pictures. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, your e-reader might smoke a little bit – this book has it all! I’m excited to meet some of the rest of Mauricio’s family as well, and am excited to return to Book 1 and check out Sebastian’s story.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. I can’t wait for the next book!
4.5 Stars for The Wild One book 2 in the Corisi Billionaires Series.
I enjoyed book 1 but Wren Heath and Mauricio Romano’s story took me to a whole different level and once I picked this book up there was no putting down, the characters intrigued me and I loved getting to know them. It was only meant to be a fling and they were meant to leave their feelings in Paris…..
Wren and Mauricio are both a little bit flawed but that adds to their charm and as you get to know the sometimes shy Wren I’m sure like me you will be thinking I would love a bestie like her and what can I say about the charming, swoon worthy bad boy who does everything in his power to woo his girl apart from I’m sure you will fall big time for him. This author really paints pictures with her words and the way she describes Paris has you feeling like you are part of this bad boy meets good girl romance. I loved the new characters we met and I loved catching up with a few friendly faces from the past and I really can’t wait to see where we go next with this great series
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley
I read a lot and it’s rare to find a writer who keeps your attention with a series,
Ms. Cardello does that and more. With each series she keeps you craving more!
This time she took us on a trip to Paris where we meet Wren Heath and Mauricio Romano. Talk about a HOT romance (get those ice cubes ready) This is one favor Mauricio will not regret doing!
Throw in a mystery involving Dominic Corisi and his family and you have another book you can’t put down!
Wren was a delight and I believe Mauricio didn’t know what hit him when he met her. I loved that Ruth told their story with the setting in Paris. The city of love and for these two it was. Until reality hit and Wren left without warning. With emotions running high, I totally understood the emotions Maurcio went through – and he felt them all.
With meddling family (what would we do without them) they are given one more chance at happiness. And of course, we get to keep up with other families we love from previous books.
This story is happiness, laughter, a few tears, and best of all an HEA from one of my favorite authors.
