The Wife Between Us is outside my usual genre (inspirational fiction), but I was intrigued by the story. The pace moved along evenly. The first part was interesting but not as gripping as I had expected, yet I couldn’t put it down. The characters drew me in, and as the plot twisted unexpectedly, I became more eager to finish and learn how many of my assumptions were correct. I had figured out one or two key plot points, but several surprised me, including a twist at the end I never saw coming. I don’t read many mainstream fiction books because so many are littered with profanity and steamy scenes. This was surprisingly clean, containing less than a handful of objectionable words. I will look up the author for more titles.
If you like alot of twist and turns, this is the book for you. Can’t wait to read the next one.
This book is full of twists and turns. I will say the first half of the book is kind of bland but suddenly everything isn’t the way you thought. Even up to the very end. A psychological thriller right up there with Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train.
This novel has so many layers and twists, it’s almost dizzying. It will make you question what you think you know, what you think you’ve seen. Great read.
The Wife Between Us
By Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen
This was an incredibly fast paced psychological thriller that kept be bound to each page, tense with what was to come.
You have an ex-wife, Vanessa aka “Nellie” you assume to be the jealous, stalkerish ex and seems to suffer some possible mental issues that could be hereditary.
You’ve got an extremely wealthy, successful and loving ex-husband, Richard who seemed to be so wholeheartedly concerned about his
ex-wife throughout their marriage (or so it seems) & even after the marriage a successful puppeteer.
Then there is Emma the newly engaged fiancée brought into the mix and now soon to be, Richard’s new wife. She is feeling harassed and hunted down by Richard’s ex. And of course, Richard wants to keep his new bride safe at all costs.
Emma only has half the story and there are a lot of twists and turns you never see coming. Secrets you couldn’t have predicted and pasts that come to haunt them all. This book is a guaranteed chilling and suspenseful read that will fill the void us thriller/ suspense fans need.
What I could have done without is the additional twist and added unnecessary ending that just seemed to drag the book past the point of being a perfect 5 Stars. It was something that didn’t need to be included as it’s own storyline and could have been wrapped up a lot earlier and in a simpler manner. It however did not take away my love for this book. I definitely recommend you read this thriller!
Maybe this was so confusing because it had two authors? The plot kept spiraling in on itself, jumping between three different points in time. Incidents would be revisited from different points of view with different outcomes.
How to explain this without any spoilers? When I got to the end of the book and understood what had really been going on, I went back and started over again. That was even worse because if the ending was real/true, the sentiments an emotions at the beginning should not have been the way they were described — for example, the protagonist crying when she learned that her ex-husband was engaged.
I don’t understand the title, either.
It could have been good. Too bad. Glad I got it from the library and didn’t spend money.
This book came warmly recommended by a friend and I was very excited to read it. I have to say the only reason I stayed the course was not to disappoint *her*, but the novel itself is thoroughly disappointing. It takes a somewhat tired trope and ties it in to several obvious (and one, it has to be said, completely surprising) plot twists. If ever it felt like there were a book written by committee, this is it, with a lot of curious and pointless repetition.
The only thing I “like” about this book is that I’ll never have to read it again.
Very suspenseful. I couldn’t figure out what was going to happen.
Great psychological thriller.
It’s slow at first, but it started to change course and I couldn’t put it down.
Enjoyed. Read it in a day
Good psychological thriller
Interesting presentation of a familiar story line that kept me surprised
This is such a great book. The characters are great, the suspense keeps you reading and the twists at the end is mind blowing! From the title of the book I figured it was going to be a story about an affair and it is but it’s not your typical affair kind of book. When I thought I knew how this book was going to end there is a twist I didn’t see coming and I had to keep reading until the last page and the last word. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone. Total five thumbs up
Really loved this book, I’m not twice reader, but would read this again.
This was slow moving but somewhere in the middle it turned quick, I didn’t stop until the end! I did not expect it and that’s what is great with suspense/thrillers! There’s so many twists and turns, it keeps you on your feet. The characters are relatable, like having drinks with your girlfriend and you just found out her marriage isn’t picture perfect.
You are introduced to Vanessa who is newly divorced, heartbroken, and not handling it well. She had the perfect husband and marriage though she thought. She becomes obsessed with her replacement, her ex husband’s new finacee, making trouble to stop the wedding. Then the first of many twists happens and omg what just happened?, you’ll find yourself rereading those pages!
Very confusing to follow.
I read this one prett quickly because I had to know what happened next. It would have been a better experience if I hadn’t read a book similar to it recently but it’s still original and has great twists and turns
Very clever writing
