Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have surpassed all expectations with this book. What a twisted psychological thriller! I could never have imagined where this story would take me and how it would end. This is a book I literally did not put down until I finished it.
Yes!! Wow this book had me HOOKED! I loved it. Reminds me of “the wives” and I was afraid the story was going to be too similar and I’d feel like it was the same story but NOPE! Very original and FANTASTIC!!
When I got half way into the book, my interest started to drop but another 50 pages it picked right back up with the twists and turns… It was a great book over all.
Great book with a twist!
I enjoyed the twists and turns in the book. Though, one or two reveals left me with more questions than answers. But overall, it was a good story.
The world of the ultra-rich is portrayed with plenty of detail–especially for merchandise brands like watches, clothes, wine, NY addresses. The central story of a character dominated by her rich, but “perfect” story rings true for domestic drama. Nellie’s escape from the marriage never “felt” credible, and the “final” twist of this book felt contrived to me.
Well, hello Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen! I had heard mixed reviews before reading The Wife Between Us for my Atlanta chapter of Girly Book Club, so let me just start off by saying, wow! I was completely blown away by this book, it was definitely worth starting off 2019 with!
Vanessa Thompson is a divorced woman who barely manages to keep herself together, between her job at Saks and her social life, she is a walking disaster. Vanessa used to be married to Richard, a wealthy good-looking hedge fund manager. The end of Vanessa’s marriage left her in limbo, wondering the effects of the fertility medicine she was taking, being an ideal wife, and the haunting events in college that leave her up at night.
Vanessa becomes obsessed with Richard’s new girlfriend, Nellie, only to spiral out of control once finding out he plans to remarry. The only thing she can think about is confronting Nellie for a face-to-face showdown.
Nellie on the other hand is a sweet, yet naïve, girl aspiring to become Richard’s new wife. She can’t wait to start her new life with her successful and dashing husband. But unbeknownst to Nellie, she is being watched, even stalked by a woman whose utmost goal is to prevent her wedding from ever taking place.
“She is oblivious to what I have done to her.”
The Wife Between Us is a complex and twisted psychological thriller. It’s fast-paced and addictive! It truly held my interest from start to finish. From the dialogue to the writing style, even the character developments, Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen certainly made me a new follower of theirs.
I was on the edge of my seat through the entire novel. I couldn’t put it down and kept wondering what was going to happen next. I wouldn’t go so far to compare this to Gone Girl and Girl on the Train, but it certainly comes close! I honestly can’t wait to read more from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, so I went out and got An Anonymous Girl. Stay tuned for their next book!

There were mixed feelings about this book during our discussion. We all agreed it was confusing at times and prevented us from getting fully engaged in the story. A twisted tale involving an ex-wife, a mistress and soon to be the wife of the wealthy ex-husband, Richard. Vanessa who has been tormented by her husband, Richard throughout their entire marriage, comes up with a brilliant way to end their marriage. But unraveling the plot is confusing for the reader and once the marriage is over she then becomes obsessed with warning the mistress, Nellie about Richard, which I personally found strange.
Many of the readers in the group loved the roller-coaster rides of plots and surprises and the unexpected ending. For me, the first part of the book was extremely hard to get into because I was too busy trying to figure out who was who and what was going on but I didn’t give up and finished the book. I was hoping, Richards sister, Maureen would have played a bigger part and we all agreed that we didn’t like it when we were left hanging when it came to the dog Rover. It ended up being a good read with an ending that I would never have guessed, so I’m glad I didn’t give up, but I almost did.
One reader was unable to finish the book. She just didn’t like it and quit reading in chapter five.
I enjoyed it it had a good twist
This is a love story, mystery, thriller. Every chapter brings a new twist to the story. Each character is very smart at manipulating and lying to get their way, which doesn’t come out until the end and still has you wondering how they did it. Loved it and read it in two days.
I really enjoyed this book it was with Twisted but it was a good book her husband was quite a guy
Wow! I loved it! Sometimes I found it a little confusing with switching back and forth of the characters, but I got used to it. I thought it was well written. Richard’s sister Maureen creeped me out! Still kinda shaking my head about that one!
Let me just tell you that there are twists and turns that you will NEVER see coming. In the beginning you think you’re reading a book about a jealous woman who’s obsessed with the younger woman her ex-husband is about to marry. You realize that this story is about so much more than the wives. It’s hard to talk about the book without giving too much away, so I won’t. This book has whiplash worthy suspense around every corner. If you liked Gone Girl, you should check out this book!
I think this is one of the best written books I have read in a long time. Nothing is at it seems and the ending Erik blow your mind! Love this book and think it should be made into a movie
I loved this book, just when you think you have it figured out, you’re wrong. It was a great easy read and I couldn’t put it down.
Just finished this much-acclaimed book which furthered my new interest in reading suspense. I think there was one twist too many, but overall, it kept my attention and kept me guessing. I would read more by these authors.
Now a New York Times top-ten bestseller.

When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.
It’s about a jealous wife, obsessed with her replacement.
It’s about a younger woman set to marry the man she loves. The first wife seems like a disaster; her replacement is the perfect woman.
You will assume you know the motives, the history, the anatomy of the relationships.
You will be wrong.
The Wife Between Us is the first collaboration between Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen; a gripping thriller with film rights sold to the creators of
The Girl On the Train.

MY TAKE.
I DIDN’T WANT THE STORY TO END
So often when books are listed as “gripping psychological thrillers”, they don’t live up to expectations. This book did. And surpassed them. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Every time I worked out what the twist was, another one came along and sent my theories spiraling. Such a cleverly written story.
My review will be brief because I don’t want to give anything away. All your assumptions will be wrong. Okay, maybe you might guess a few (Richard is not the Prince Charming he appears to be; he has, to me, a weird close relationship with his sister; he has a secret in his past), but you will NEVER see what’s coming. The Wife Between Us is beyond clever. Unbelievable that this was written by two authors. The words flow as one. A novel of marriage, obsession, friendship, family, betrayal, manipulations, and more. It’s a complex psychological novel. This is a fantastic, must read domestic thriller. A Drop the Mic ending. Fast-paced and addictive. I loved everything about this book. 10 Stars read!
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this book.
This book…WOW. I’m not even sure where to start. There were so many twists and turns throughout the story that kept me on my toes. The Wife Between Us is an expertly woven story that has you constantly working to discern what is the actual truth and what is the character’s truth. During the moments where life was busy and I couldn’t get away to read, my mind was constantly focused on Vanessa, Nellie, and Richard. I still want to know more about Maureen, just to confirm if my suspicions about her are true, but I also love that we were left with just a little bit of mystery at the end of the story.
This story is both gripping and clever. An absolute must read.
I voluntarily received and ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Wife Between Us had me predicting and second-guessing until the very last page.
