Amelia is determined to find her grandparents and when she meets Chet she asks him to accomplish her and her daughter. Chet accepts the invitation but he has a secret, but so has Amelia, and they are not the only one. But can there be to big or much secrets for a HEA?
Really entertaining story. Lovable characters and a great happy ending.
What a wonderful story of loss, hope, forgiveness and how love can triumph and Marie Higgins always has the perfect story of the heart. Amelia has lived a hard life. Growing up in the orphanage and then working to teach the new children. She escapes and tries to find her grandparents and takes her child with her.
Along the way a lot happens but the she is determined and hope is eternal. Do not miss this addition to the Keepers of the Light series. It will hold you captive until the end.
Amelia escapes the orphanage where she has lived and then taught school for many years. The people who run the orphanage are cruel and drunks. They get paid per child so they keep as many as they can. Uncle Theo, a deaf man, helps her and her child escape. They are heading to Spruce Hill on the Oregon Coast to hopefully find her grandparents. They meet Chet Logan along the way and ask him to accompany them as a protector. Chet, however, is really following her for a different reason. Can they get past the secrets they are both hiding? This is a wonderful must read that I highly recommend!
I received an advance copy of this book from the author and I voluntarily wrote an honest review.
One of the hardest parts of writing a review is to do so and not give away too much of the story. To say that Amelia has had a hard life would be an understatement. Even as an adult she still has to runaway from the orphanage where she grew up and where she is now a teacher (unpaid). Her concern for recent orphan, 5-year-old Gracie, has her taking the child with her. Amelia has more than a few surprises in store before she reaches Spruce Hill, not the least of which is the bounty hunter, Chet. This book is standalone but I recommend reading the previous books in series so you will be familiar with the people of the town. I loved this book.
This story kept me on the edge of my seat. Secrets abound, pasts are revealed and true love endures. Heart wrenching and heartwarming. This story had all the feels, and I thoroughly enjoyed the journey.
Ms. Higgins is one of my favorite authors. This story lives up to my expectations of what a great book should be like. There is a little mystery that adds to the book. Very well done. I received an ARC. This is my honest, voluntary review.
Loved this sweet story with Amelia who is trying to escape the orphanage and the nasty people who have been so cruel to her over the years and Chet who has been hired to track her down. Their lives have been connected and as he gets to know her he realizes that he is the opposite of what he has been told. Wonderful book about doing the write thing and reuniting families that have been so wrongfully separated.
Received from the author and this is honest and unbiased opinion given freely.
The Widow’s Secret grabbed me in chapter one and would not let me go until I got to the end! This book has romance, triumph of good over evil, lies, stealing, kidnapping, abuse of power, drunkenness and more. The book did not seem that long as I powered through it. The story is well written with wonderful characters. I highly recommend you read this book.
