A captivatingly funny and deeply emotional new standalone romance by Melissa Foster!
When the Dark Knights at Bayside and the cast of Bayside Summers collide, sparks fly, and trouble—or maybe love—is not far behind.
“‘Two pieces of driftwood looking for their island. That’s you and me.'”
If there was ever a book I wanted to live in, this is it. From the setting, to the hero and heroine, to the people who surround them, and so much more, everything is spot on. If I could have given this a 10/5, I would have.
This is my favorite Melissa Foster book, and I’m not sure if that’ll change soon, regardless of how many books of hers I read.
“She wanted to stay there in his arms, with the breeze on her cheeks and his lips on hers until the sun came up.”
The title is all wrong. There is nothing little about Justin “Maverick” Wicked. He’s my perfect book boyfriend. Am I too late to claim him? Justin is everything, you guys. Physically, he’s a biker, he’s hot, he has a lot of tattoos. But everything else about him is actually hotter. His heart, the way he gives everything of himself to people, his love for animals, his protectiveness, and his perseverance. He knew he wanted Chloe, and he knew he wasn’t just about sex. And so he waited. Have I mentioned he’s a romantic AND a dirty talker?
I want to marry this guy.
“‘You can’t save me from the world, Justin.” “I’ll never stop trying,'”
Chloe’s one hell of a heroine. She’s been through so much, both as a child and as a woman, and she came out of it stronger. Maybe a bit battered and bruised on the inside, and a lot guarded about who she gives her heart to, but alive and kicking. It’s endearing to see she’s so passionate about her job, and she cares so much about everything she does – even if it’s just scrapbooking for her friends or taking pictures of special moments. She enjoys the small things, and everything, because she never had much. She’s a lot – and it would take a special man to take in everything she is.
““I don’t know why you chose me when I kept denying us, but I’m so glad you did.”
“It wasn’t a choice, Chloe. When I saw you, all other women failed to exist.””
OK, so, Justin’s wanted Chloe basically since the first time he saw her, about a year and a half ago. He tries to flirt, he tries to get closer, and he puts every move he knows on her, but she’s not having it. And we know why that is, but the poor guy doesn’t. And still, he doesn’t let up. It’s not at all in a creepy kind of way, mind you – he’s just there for her, and he’s determined to change her mind, because he knows they’re right for each other.
“The people, the music, and every other thing in the damn bar faded to black. Chloe was all Justin saw, all he felt, and all he wanted.”
We also know Chloe’s not immune to Justin’s charm, or to anything about him, but she tries her best to be. She tries to avoid what’s going on. Until one night at the bar, and later at the beach, when they trust each other with everything they are and everything that made them what (and who) they are, and they let each other in.
And damn it, it’s perfect in all its simplicity.
I’ve seen a lot of reviews about other books where people complain about lack of communication, and that’s often why there’s angst in romance novels: he didn’t say this, she didn’t say that, and a lot could’ve been avoided if they had. There’s nothing like this here. Once these two people decide they want to be together, there’s nothing but communication: with their words, their eyes, their bodies. It’s heartwarming.
And can I also say they are scorching hot together, while being so amazingly in love? The hotness level here is off the charts!
“‘It’s going to be hard, and heart-wrenching, and there might be times when you think you can’t go on. But when your legs give out, I’ll stand for you, and when mine need a break—
“I’ll stand for you,””
This is the first book in a series, and we get a lot of characters from past (and future) novels. And we get a family, because that’s what the Dark Knights are. It’s beautiful to see how they’re there for each other, for the community, how they never ever let themselves hurt – or celebrate – alone. This really touched my heart, the way every other book of Melissa’s I read: I come from a really small family, and this makes me feel like I belong there, somehow.
“‘You made me realize that all those things I collected were just buoys helping me remain afloat in a sea of hopes and dreams. But you are my safe haven, my happy place. You are my island, Justin, and I want to be yours.'”
This is the kind of book you want to go back to, because it’s a happy book. The angst that does exist has nothing to do with Justin and Chloe together, and everything to do with the rest of the world.
They both have pasts they need to heal from, and the only way to do it is by letting each other in, and by loving each other through it.
It may have taken them a year and a half to get here, but they’re definitely not letting go of each other now. Once you have it, you know you do.
I can’t wait to read more of this series.
Melissa Foster is giving bikers a new reputation — and it’s one that is going to have you feeling more than the summer heat going on right now! Because I’m a long-time reader, I’ve grown accustomed to her extensive support system of each character’s family and friends. That just lets me know that each will be telling their own story soon enough (and I can’t wait for each of them!).
Justin Wicked is definitely wicked — in all of the right ways! I couldn’t blame Chloe for feeling hesitant to even let him look her way. Bikers have a bad wrap and she definitely doesn’t want her past to return to reality. Justin’s past isn’t all sunshine and roses either, which helps us yearn for these two to find love together.
I always question how Melissa is going to step up and create more with her books/series and then the amazing woman drops a book like this. She continues to amaze me how she brings real-life situations to light and adds a sense of romance, as well as acknowledgement for important issues.
Tru Blue will forever be my #1 favorite of Foster’s books; however, she is always giving me a new current book crush — Justin and Chloe both take the title (at least until the next book is released). This couple is incredibly powerful and deep. I really enjoyed the scenes of when they were sharing and connecting on emotional/mental levels. Don’t get me wrong, they physical scenes are always mind-blowing; but when a couple dives down into the darkest parts of themselves, revealing to one another, it brings all those feels to the surface.
Chloe is another woman that I’ve added to my list to take some of her strengths and add them to myself. She stands up on her own two feet, dealing with her own past and current struggles, without being needy or clingy. When she begins to realize that her rush to judgement of Justin is based on fallacies, we see an even better side of Chloe emerge. I loved that she was willing to admit she was wrong and finally let herself go. Justin’s persistence and true-heart nature had me swooning, often wishing I was in her shoes!
I have volunteered to share my review and all the opinions are 100% my own.
Everyone needs a little Wicked in their life…
Justin and Chloe are friends. He hasn’t hidden his attraction to his ‘Uptown Girl’, but he knows she isn’t ready for him yet. But in the meantime he has been showing her that the good guys can have tats, a motorcycle, and leathers.
Chloe has let her mother’s bad taste in men affect her view of men and relationships. And she doesn’t want to become like her mother. So she dates boring businessmen. But her jerk detector is a bit off. Justin gets past her walls. He is everything she thought she didn’t want. What she didn’t realize is that he is everything she needs.
He admired her independence. Her spine. Her kindness and generosity. He wants to be her strength and protection, but he also knows he can’t smother her.
She helps him realize he doesn’t need to see his past as having damaged him or him as failing but rather as having given him strength, love, community, and family.
They both fill the empty spaces in each others hearts.
This story expands the bookiverse some more. It gives us family, community, humor, and lots of steam.
Loved Chloe & Justin’s journey to HEA.
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A sexy and captivating new standalone from Melissa Foster! Chloe and Justin’s story is the perfect form of escapism!
Good read. Absolutely love Justin. His love, patience, protective nature and loyalty. Love appearances from previous book characters. She was a bit annoying, skipped a couple pages. I enjoy this authors book and I will continue to buy her books. Can’t wait to read Mags and Marley book.
Audio Review
I love how this author gives us some lessons while giving us a heart warming story that heats the sheets too. We have Justin Wicket and Chloe Mallery who both had bad childhoods. They have gone on to do good for their community but in different ways. Chloe has been attracted to Justin, aka Maverick, for a long time but had a misjudgment about who he was because he was a biker and wore the bad boy persona. She learns looks can be deceiving and not to judge a book by its cover.
This book touches on some sensitive subjects and does so with grace. There is a lesson in this story and I loved listening to Justin and Chloe’s love story.
Savannah Peachwood and Aiden Snow narrate this book and do a great job. Savannah brought Chloe’s sweet naïve personality and Aiden was Justin with his sexy growly voice. Great job.
I love it and highly recommend it.
SOOOO GOOD!! This story was sexy, romantic, tragic and fun! I loved getting to know Chloe and Justin. The stuff these two went through and survived before meeting each other had me admiring their strength and fortitude. But, when they were together their chemistry was off the charts. I was rooting for them both throughout the story and when they got their HEA I jumped for joy!!
This is the first book in the Wicked: Dark Knights at Bayside series. Justin is a member of the Dark Knights motorcycle club. They are a motorcycle club, not a gang. Justin had a hard and painful upbringing and the Dark Knights with their love and support saved him. Justin fell in love with Chloe the first time he saw her. However, Chloe has also had a painful and difficult upbringing and has sworn off bad boys like who Justin appears to be. Chloe is only open to them being friends. Just when Chloe gives Justin a chance at romance, something tragic happens to her which may derail both of their lives. All of Melissa Foster’s books have a central theme of family – those we are born into and those we create – and beautiful heart squeezing love. This book is no exception, the Dark Knights and the family they create are the embodiment of family and love. It is that love and family that help Justin and Chloe move beyond their pasts and embrace a hopeful future. Experiencing the journey of these two very different people as they fall in love and move past their pasts and the incident that almost derails both their futures gave me all the feels – you will definitely laugh, cry, swoon, gasp, and happy sigh. I love all Melissa Foster’s heroes and heroines but Justin and Chloe are now one of my favorites. I cannot wait to read the love stories of the rest of the Dark Knights family.
The Wickeds Book One.
While this can be read as the first in a new series, I highly recommend reading the preceding series. The characters will make a lot more sense.
Chloe Mallery loves her job at Lower Cape Assisted Living Facility (LOCAL) and her scrapbooking hobby. She is happiest around her sister and the elders she works with, but Justin Wicked is determined to prove to her that he isn’t like the men of her past. Justin might be in a motorcycle club and seem like a rough, dangerous man, but his club is community minded and protective of those in their circle. Chloe might not see it yet, but Justin fell for her a long time ago.
If you’re looking for a biker with a heart of gold and the woman who slayed him, this is the book for you!

5 stars. This is a great book. I was looking forward to reading this book after meeting Chloe and Justin the the previous books, but never imagined I would like it as much as I did. Chloe has always had to have her life in order and planned based on having to watch out for her sister growing up. She was not interested in a “bad boy”, even though Justin and her have had a connection since they have met. Justin k ew Chloe was the girl for him and he was willing to wait until she was ready. One night after Justin and the Dark Knights rescued a group of dogs, Chloe gives him a chance to at least see that he isn’t the bad boy she thought he was — Justin is really swoony! This is a fantastic story and I really enjoyed that they became a couple early in the book and we got to see them coming to fall for each other and how their lives could mesh. I also loved meeting all of the other Wickeds and can’t wait for their stories .
Another heart wringer with all of the feels that are sure to fill your heart to the brim…grab those tissues and settle in for another AWESOME Melissa Foster read
I loved the characters in a Little Bit Wicked. The men are tough in some ways, but sweet in others. The Dark Knights MC does a lot of good for the community and the characters accepted the consequences for any unlawful actions. I appreciate that there weren’t a lot of relationship miscommunications. It’s been awhile since I’ve read the earlier Love in Bloom books. It’s not required to have read any other books before this one, though there are a lot of familiar characters from related series.
I listened to the Audible version. Aidan Snow was new to me, but Savannah Peachwood is one of my go-to narrators. Together they made a great team to bring the characters to life.

Awesome Story & Listen Wickedly Captivating!
A Little Bit Wicked
The Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside, Book 1
By: Melissa Foster
Narrated by: Savannah Peachwood, Aiden Snow
This book just swept me right in, grabbing both my attention and my heart right from the start and held it straight to the end. Melissa Foster is a gifted author, I enjoy her writing style, the storylines she creates are original and interesting but the stars of this book are the characters, they are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with. Chloe Mallory did not have the easiest of childhoods, she learned early on how to fend for herself and look out for her younger sister. It left her scarred in some ways but strongly independent and fierce in other ways. Justin Wicked’s childhood was not the easiest either but things got a whole lot better when the Wicked’s took him in. He struggled at first but the Wicked’s did not give up on him and Justin grew into a fine young man. That Wicked family is awesome and you can not help but fall in love with each one of them. It was great how supportive they are in times of need. Loved the camaraderie amongst the siblings, loved the typical sibling banter too. The same with the Dark Knights MC, they are definitely a unique club and I thought it was awesome what they do for others. Justin wanted Chloe but she kept pushing him away, she has her mindset on preconceived notions about bad boys and those who belong to motorcycle clubs. Feeling it is safer to go out with suits and clean-cut guys. Yet none of them make her feel like she does when she is near Justin. When she finally gives in she realizes the error of her ways, not everything is what it appears to be. I loved how everything plays out in Chloe and Justin’s story, the chemistry between them is explosive and smoking hot. A lot goes on in this book, the story flows naturally and is beautifully plotted with plenty of drama, a touch of angst, some humor, lots of heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Melissa Foster, thank you for this awesome story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Savannah Peachwood and Aiden Snow are fantastic narrators and voice performers. They did an awesome job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, humanizing them, giving each their own voice and personality. Aiden Snow’s Justin was perfection, as was Savannah Peachwood’s Chloe, sounding just as I pictured them to sound, great job with the secondary characters too. Both are entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen
4.5 stars
There are really no words to describe how I feel about Chloe and Justin. These two knocked my socks off, in more way than one. Whenever they’ve run into each other over the course of this author’s overarching Love in Bloom series, there’s been chemistry. Seeing them interact on a more day to day basis took that chemistry up a few notches until it was bursting off the pages of this book.
Since I’ve been reading the Love in Bloom stories since the beginning, I know Melissa Foster always finds a way to make me love characters I think will be tough sells. That’s exactly what happened with Chloe. I am in no way a girlie girl. I don’t have the urge to wear heels or pencil skirts, give me jeans and tank tops any day of the week. Once I got to know Chloe better and understood her motivations for not only her apparel, but her very controlled life, I couldn’t help but want to be her best friend. And it turns out she’s also just as comfortable in flip flops as she is in stilettos. And, while I was a bit annoyed by her image of what being a “biker” meant, even after knowing Justin and some of his family for years, I could also understand those deep-seated fears and prejudices.
The Wickeds are such a welcoming bunch, and Chloe fits in with them seamlessly. No surprise since they’re related to the Whiskeys. Justin’s story is just as compelling as Chloe’s, and it really helped drive home what a wonderful group of people the Dark Knights are. They can be a rough bunch, sure. But only in the defense of others. Sometimes they go overboard, yet it always seems they learn from their mistakes.
Between Chloe’s work at the assisted living center, Justin’s Grandpa, and all their friends, I was filled with warm-fuzzies throughout this whole book. I cannot wait to see Tank find some joy in life, not to mention the rest of the Wicked clan.
You can never go wrong with a Melissa Foster contemporary romance. In A little Bit Wicked, Justin and Chloe are very likable characters and it’s great to witness them put the work in to make their relationship a HEA. Here, as with some many Foster reads, we also get the added bonus of catching up with a host of characters with whom we’ve already fallen in love.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Audiobook Review
Ahhh I’ve read some Bayside and some Whiskey’s, now I’m on to the Wicked’s! A Little Bit Wicked is a sweet, angsty, friends to lovers romance with all the feels! I loved every second of Justins’s dirty mouth and flirty ways. Chloe is his exact opposite. I think they fit together perfectly.
Chloe has always been her little sisters protector. She grew up seeing stuff no kid should have to, and those experiences drove her to be who she is today. They also have her trying to date straight laced men. Justin is the perfect friend, always there to lend a hand to get rid of them when they aren’t working out . Too bad she has to keep telling herself she’s not interested in bikers. If only she would give in to his flirty banter and give him a chance, she’d be hella surprised!
Savannah and Aiden really brought this story to life! I think they matched Chloe and Justin perfectly!
I have been waiting a long time for Chloe & Justin to get their HEA and this book was phenomenal. I read it in one sitting! Chloe has always been a strong & independent woman, forced to grow up very quickly due to how her mom behaved while Chloe & her sister Serena were children. Even though she was friends with Justin, she thought because he was a tattooed biker he would be similar to the guys her mom dated. However when she finally accepted that he was different & dated he opened her world to other things. Justin also had a hard childhood til the Wicked family adopted him & I just loved that it shows family doesn’t have to be blood related, it’s about the heart & loving each other. It was also fun catching up with Bayside couples that are friends with both Justin & Chloe.
This is the first book in the Wickeds: Dark Knights at Bayside Series, a best friends romance. This Series is linked with the Whiskeys Series. I love Melissa Foster’s interconnected Series! Justin and Chloe’s story is beautiful, emotional, fun, and sexy. I love their slow burn story. Justin is a biker, good man, handsome, and protective. Chloe is a businesswoman, loving, and caring. They both have a dramatic past. I love to have both POV. Serena, Chloe’s sister, and her husband Drake, are amazing characters. This is a full length novel, slow paced, and captivating. The Dark Knights MC Club members, and the Wicked Brothers, are handsome, and intriguing. I love the family bonds in this story. The cast of supporting characters is impressive, and they have an important part in this story. Aiden Snow and Savannah Peachwood did an amazing job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listen to the net book in the Series. #AudiobookObsession
I have a serious weakness for a man on a motorcycle… I met my husband on his motorcycle and a leather jacket on. Chloe has some serious strength and determination… there’s no way I would have lasted as long as she did. Add in a man that does good deed and I AM DONE! Just done for. I loved Chloe and her inner strength but Justin… Justin has the skill to twist a woman up! He loves hard and fiercely. He’s a bit over the top, a bit too much but his heart is unbeatable!!
Onto the narration, just like the story, it was sweet and strong. Savannah Peachwood is an amazing narrator and she seems to capture Chloe’s character perfectly. Chloe is strong and has this independent personality that Peachwood really nails with her voice. Justin could have been only narrated by Aiden Snow. Justin is an alpha male to the extreme and Snow captures that so innately. However, Justin also has this softer side that Chloe brings out in him. He really balances this macho man with a sweeter and more sentimental man. Loved the narration!
