Quirky short story which is part of the Point Muse series by Kelly Ethan.
The Christmas fayre is about to be opened, when a body is found within a wine barrel.
Sleuthing librarian Xandie Meyers investigates, even though police chief Zach Braun is warning her not to…
A fun and fast Christmas story. Magical towns have advantages over regular old towns. They can control the weather or other magical things. But, they also have a downside, people powerful enough to cause havoc. Xandie and her aunts and grams have a knack for trouble finding them. Xandie is becoming quite the sleuth. The characters are fun and interesting. The town is charming. Recommend this cozy mystery to all mystery lovers.
This is a short story probably best read after Book 1. Xandie is settling in to her new life in Point Muse and her newly discovered family. But it’s not all Christmas cheer when someone is murdered at the craft fair and the competition for best booth gets out of hand. Xandie’s new family, especially her grandmother, is a lot of fun with plenty of snark and humor to spare. This will be a great series.
I received an advance copy of the book and this is my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. Realistic and identifiable characters and you are engaged with the story. Those who like paranormal suspense would like to read this.
Xandie and Elspeth, her Grandma thought taking in the craft fair would be a good way to spend the day until Xandie discovers a dead reindeer shifter in a barrel of wine. Now they decide they will try to figure out who killed the nasty reindeer shifter. The duo make a funny, clever, strange and snaky pair and get into some really strange situations. It is a short book that is worth reading.
Xandie didn’t expect much from the craft fair, she just wanted to make sure her grandmother stayed out of trouble. In this town full of shifters and witches you never know what to expect. Then the dead body shows up and Xandie is on the case with her aunt and grannie. The dialog is great and there are some great characters. A must read.
Ahhhh…Christmas Chaos…gotta love it!
A fast read that will keep you laughing. Who knew crafters could become so cut-throat? Just another day in a witch’s world. Read and enjoy!
What a fun mystery! Xandie’s aunt and grandmother are absolutely delightful and hilarious! Lots going on with several leads that are red herrings but do tie in a bit. Didn’t see the solution at all! Loved it!
Donner is a troublemaker and someone decides its time to put an end to his fighty ways. Xandie investigates at the request of her Aunt, despite being warned not to by the police. Very charming town and characters. It was a fun little story just in time for Christmas. I read the book in one sitting and can’t wait to read more about Point Muse and its magical residents. Light paranormal and magic. I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I really felt the characters were real people. I found myself actually seeing and hearing the characters in my mind as they interacted with each other, not all books are like that. I actually wished it had been longer. This is a book anyone who likes paranormal or mysteries should read. It has all the right elements for a great read even if you have limited time to do so. I highly recommend this book, and will definitely read more of her work.
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
This is first book that I have read by this author.
The start of this book is quite confusing as it gives you lot’s of names of people and their relationship to each other
Then when it did get into the story itself, it didn’t really have much substance.
I was quite disappointed really, as the blurb for the book made this novella sound quite exciting.
But when it came to reading it, it was quite uninteresting and unfortunately uninspiring. It certainly doesn’t make me want to read another instalment
So it is with regret that I would not recommend this book.
