#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A high-stakes thrill ride through the darkest corners of the Sunshine State, from the author hailed as “the best thriller writer alive” by Ken Follett
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity is the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe?
Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. It is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct. After nine years with the Board, she knows that most problems are caused by incompetence, not corruption.
But a corruption case eventually crosses her desk. A previously disbarred lawyer is back in business, and he claims to know of a Florida judge who has stolen more money than all other crooked judges combined. And not just crooked judges in Florida. All judges, from all states, and throughout United States history. And now he wants to put a stop to it. His only client is a person who knows the truth and wants to blow the whistle and collect millions under Florida law. When the case is assigned to Lacy, she immediately suspects that this one could be dangerous. Dangerous is one thing. Deadly is something else.
Praise for The Whistler

Perhaps not his best but does hold your interest
John Grissom tells a good story.
Couldn’t get into the characters or their respective proclivities. Kept waiting but after about 5 chapters i put it away thinking either Grisham didn’t actually write it, or he’s off his game. No reason to give it less than 3 stars. But no reason for more.
I have always enjoyed books by John Grisham, and this one was no exception. One of the main characters in this story will be featured in his new book, “The Judge’s List,” which will be published later this year.
Grisham continues as one of the great story tellers of this generation. His characters are well defined and real people. The plot is original and believable. He writes with touches of humor while twisting his plot, sometimes with expected turns and sometimes not. He gives enough of a hint of what’s coming next without giving it away….enough to make you not want to lay the book down and go to bed just yet. The Whistler tells a good story that’s believable enough to cause you to wonder how often it may have played out in the real world of casinos on Indian land with virtually no supervision from outside eyes. It also makes you aware of the great tragedy of how this country has mistreated the Indians, “giving” them some of the most undesirable land in America as their “permanent” home. Unlimited income from casinos never will make up for that.
Kind of boring but at least I finished it
Every once in awhile, I gotta read a legal thriller. I loved this one.
Fast paced and engaging
It was interesting to read about how the Casino operated and paid dividends to the tribe. Of course Mr. Grisham always throws twists into the plot with his legal background. One of his best.
Great suspense
I always enjoy John Grisham books.
John Gresham does not disappoint. As usual, we are caught up in an action-packed tale, with colorful characters and a complicated plot, in a law-related setting. No surprises there, but the story is full of surprises. Worthwhile!
As usual Grisham delivers!
Excellent
Greatt book from a great author
As surprising as it is, this is my first John Grisham book. My husband was heading out of town for a road trip, and asked me to download a few books for him to listen to and this was one of them. He enjoyed it enough to suggest I listen to it.
If you enjoy corruption, this one is full of it! It won’t be my last book by this author.
Marginally better than other post-Brethren Grisham novels.
Nothing is ever as easy as it seems and there are always layers.
I admit it. I love John Grisham’s books. I do. I got into this one thinking it would be one thing and was pleasantly surprised the book became more. The writing is sharp, but like talking to a friend and sucked me right in.
Lacy isn’t the character I thought she’d be. Then again, this wasn’t the book I thought it’d be. I expected something more straightforward, but the story is layered and complex. There is always more than meets the eye. Lacy comes across rather simplistic, but through the story she grows and it was nice to see it. I hated what she had to go through, but the struggle was worth it.
If you’re looking for a story where there’s a bad guy, some not so bad, but not so good guys and lots of good guys, then this might be the one you’re looking for. Give it a shot.
Another great book from Grisham.
you cant beat a good Grishman novel
