#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A high-stakes thrill ride through the darkest corners of the Sunshine State, from the author hailed as “the best thriller writer alive” by Ken Follett
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity is the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe?
Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. It is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct. After nine years with the Board, she knows that most problems are caused by incompetence, not corruption.
But a corruption case eventually crosses her desk. A previously disbarred lawyer is back in business, and he claims to know of a Florida judge who has stolen more money than all other crooked judges combined. And not just crooked judges in Florida. All judges, from all states, and throughout United States history. And now he wants to put a stop to it. His only client is a person who knows the truth and wants to blow the whistle and collect millions under Florida law. When the case is assigned to Lacy, she immediately suspects that this one could be dangerous. Dangerous is one thing. Deadly is something else.
Praise for The Whistler

A great read! Couldn’t put it down… a great story , always love John Grisham books
Loved the book! Rudd’s character was written very well. It was an intriguing book with various bouts of comic relief. 10/10 would recommend
Lacking in detail, glosses over too many of the difficult parts of such an operation. I cannot say it is up to the usual quality of his story telling.
Long on detail, short on drama. Blah, blah, blah. Grisham has lost his touch. I even wondered if someone else wrote it.
This was one of the best thrillers I have read in awhile, gets your adrenaline all the way through, great read.
I decided to give this book a rating of 3, although it was much better than Rogue Lawyer. Would have given it a higher rating, but I felt the last few chapters were quite lame and expected. Would have enjoyed more suspense at the end!
Muy buena deberían leerla a mi parecer me gusto mucho espero encontrar mas como esta
Solid story. Another good read from John grisham. Has that southern charm

Ok me gustoooooomucho ooooooooollooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllo
Fast paced easy and quick read.
I’m a great fan of John Grisham, and his newest novel did not disappoint! He sets the stage slowly to allow you to get to know his characters, but then it was full steam ahead! I could not put this book down. The main character Lacey works for an agency that investigates corrupt judges in Florida. Her meeting with a person who files a claim for the “whistler” leads her and members of her team on a intriguing, dangerous, and deadly chase.
I got this book at a gift exchange and didn’t want to put it down.
Despite the disclaimer, “This is a work of fiction….” this book reads like a work of nonfiction. The story is bare-bones, lacking in many of the artifices fiction writers use, and Grisham surely knows. The topics of judicial misconduct and management of gambling casinos provided some eye-opening, thought-provoking musings. Like all of Grisham’s books, this is one I’m glad I read.
I do not read John Grisham very often because I am not big into crime fiction and legal thrillers. However, when I do pick up a book in those genres it is always John Grisham. He never disappoints and he still didn’t with The Whistler. Love the characters, the flow of the book and the reality.
I recently got on a John Grisham kick, reading all of his books I could get ahold of. Absolutely love his style of writing. Makes you feel like you’re there.
This book started out slow and I didn’t think I would like it but it picked up and was a very good book. I am glad I stuck with it and kept up until the end.
Love Grisham!
