#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A high-stakes thrill ride through the darkest corners of the Sunshine State, from the author hailed as “the best thriller writer alive” by Ken Follett
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity is the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe?
Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. It is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct. After nine years with the Board, she knows that most problems are caused by incompetence, not corruption.
But a corruption case eventually crosses her desk. A previously disbarred lawyer is back in business, and he claims to know of a Florida judge who has stolen more money than all other crooked judges combined. And not just crooked judges in Florida. All judges, from all states, and throughout United States history. And now he wants to put a stop to it. His only client is a person who knows the truth and wants to blow the whistle and collect millions under Florida law. When the case is assigned to Lacy, she immediately suspects that this one could be dangerous. Dangerous is one thing. Deadly is something else.

This was Grisham at his best. A real page turner. Lots of intrigue and action. I found the end a bit dull compared to the rest of the book and I would have liked more detail about the prequel, which I also enjoyed.
This has to be the best book John Grisham has ever written! Astonishing criminal behavior of a Judge, Organized crime and the gangsters involved lead to an amazing story. The innocent people murdered is very moving. A real page turner, start to finish!
It was dull. It was dull.. It was dull… It was dull….

Another great read by Grisham…suspence all the way through, quick page turner and easy to read….
Grisham is never disappointing…this book is no exception
Great book. Could hardly put it down. A lot to think about with all the strange diseases we have now and so much corruption. No one trusts a drug company and our own doctor jokes about all the free trips he gets!
A good read though.
Great read. Another wonderful book by John Grisham. Didn’t want it to end . Hope he does another one using the same main characters
A quick read and great for a weekend.good suspense but the endimg seemed rushed.one of his lighter books overall.
I have read every John Grisham book he has ever published, with the exception of his youth-targeted series. This book doesn’t stand up to his usual offerings. The ending was quite anti-climactic, and relevant details were overlooked. It was just mediocre, and I hope not indicative of any future endeavors from Grisham.
Excellent!! Could not stop reading! Of course characters were well thought-out and presented! Edge of seat writing all the way through!
Very well done. Kept wanting to get back to it to read more.
The USA is a very litigious country. It seems No one does anything because it’s the right thing to do. This book explores corruption at multiple levels.
i forgog had downloaded this book i am glad i found it
I think I’ve read all his books and some are definitely better than ohers. But this one is not worth your time: boring, no suspense, and a barely-there scent of a romance. I think Grisham wrote this in his sleep and his readers deserve better,

I would certainly recommend this book to people who enjoy thrillers. He is a wonderful writer and keeps me inerested throughout the whole book.
I liked the most among other Grishams. The story was fast flowing and it was hard to put down. I think we are lucky to have a great author like Grisham.
First time reader of John Grisham. Love his style of writing. I enjoyed the book and will continue to read many more of his novels.
Definitely not his best effort compared to The Client or The Painted House.
Very interesting read. John Grisham is an exelent writer. I love reading his books.
