#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A high-stakes thrill ride through the darkest corners of the Sunshine State, from the author hailed as “the best thriller writer alive” by Ken Follett
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity is the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe?
Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. It is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct. After nine years with the Board, she knows that most problems are caused by incompetence, not corruption.
But a corruption case eventually crosses her desk. A previously disbarred lawyer is back in business, and he claims to know of a Florida judge who has stolen more money than all other crooked judges combined. And not just crooked judges in Florida. All judges, from all states, and throughout United States history. And now he wants to put a stop to it. His only client is a person who knows the truth and wants to blow the whistle and collect millions under Florida law. When the case is assigned to Lacy, she immediately suspects that this one could be dangerous. Dangerous is one thing. Deadly is something else.

Excellent book
Totally enjoyed it as usual. Great writer. Looking forward to next one
This legal thriller was great!!!
John Grisham continues to satisfy with complex tales, characrers, and life situations that keep is fans wanting more.
Another excellent legal thriller from Grisham. He never disappoints.
If you are a fan of Grisham this is a worthy addition to his collection.
A good story that rambled on forever, so disappointed at the extremely slow pace to the killing off of likeable characters, so unnecessary, finally seemingly killing off another main character (temporarily) it rambled on for ever and as a Grisham fan I was dismayed that I was actually getting bored and skipping pages. Overall disappointment. It would not stop me from purchasing another but may stay with his earlier books which were fascinating.
Great Read…very believable characters, and wonderful story
Si me gusto la historia llena de ficción y acción es de un barco y de la vida real Se la recomiendo a todos
Good plot and writing. Terrible editing, or continuity. Sipping water and suddenly sipping orange juice, ongoing throughout the book stupid inconsistencies.
The last Grishem was similar. He needs a new support team.
The usual, John Grisham always delivered his novels as fast paced as he could get. I fell in love with his books since I was 14.
Very interesting book. Starts a tad slow but quickly picks up the pace. It manages to keep you glued to the pages right up to the final decision. Strongly recommend The Whistler, it is up with the best of Grisham.
I have read every Grisham books and was disappointed in this one. Where is the book that compares to The Pelican Brief, A time to kill, etc. I realize that it is difficult to come up with unique and different plots each and every time but his last few novels leave me with nothing, just ho him.
Typical Grisham he never lets me down. I have read every book that he has written and this was another page turner. Nobody writes as good as Grisham to me. I am looking forward to his next release .
Too many facts overly repeated. The book’s ending felt hurried and unsatisfying. But worst of all, following the conclusion, were the questions given to the reader.
For a story about federal public servants working in an department that not many would know or care about, Grisham spins a yarn that keeps you turning the pages quickly wondering where you’re going. Great read by a great writer who does his homework!
Muy bunea la historia, no tiene nada que enviar a otros autores.
Quite good, not as exciting as the usual books that I read, but a great story line and plot held my interest.
Once again, John Grisham writes another page turner. He has yet to release a book that I did not love. Buy it, share it, but do not walk past it!
Keeps you reading To the very end including the epilogue
Was a good read. Would have liked more story after the round up.
Typical John Grisham he never lets us down .Look forward to the next one from him .
An engaging story. I read this in about a day and found this book very difficu!t to put down. There is potential for a movie here.
