#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A high-stakes thrill ride through the darkest corners of the Sunshine State, from the author hailed as “the best thriller writer alive” by Ken Follett
We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity is the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe?
Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. It is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct. After nine years with the Board, she knows that most problems are caused by incompetence, not corruption.
But a corruption case eventually crosses her desk. A previously disbarred lawyer is back in business, and he claims to know of a Florida judge who has stolen more money than all other crooked judges combined. And not just crooked judges in Florida. All judges, from all states, and throughout United States history. And now he wants to put a stop to it. His only client is a person who knows the truth and wants to blow the whistle and collect millions under Florida law. When the case is assigned to Lacy, she immediately suspects that this one could be dangerous. Dangerous is one thing. Deadly is something else.

Have not read Grisham lately but was delighted with this book Very appropriate for todays troubled times
This was my beach read and I devoured it in 24 hours. This is the John Grisham of earlier books. The plot was high energy and kepy you on yours toes.
Suspence and intrigue in the world of gangs.stealing. money laundering and corruption without discriptive blood and gore.
Awesome, one of his best! Lots of research into Indian Casinos and reservation law. Just great! Recommend to all
It was a good book, but not as page turner as some of the Grisham books. The story was believable and you could see such a story unfolding for real. I liked the characters.
Last 1/2 of book as usual excellent. Use of acronyms confusing. Also felt large number of participants was confusing.
Look forward to john grishams next book.
Held my interest. Learned something more about tthe legal system. Grisham has a talent to isert colurful characters
Si m gusto muy buena historia …muy entretenida de principio al fin no se sabe lo que va a ocurrir hasta el final
As always I have found John Grisham books to be interesting and well written books about lawyer’s, the law and people. Needless to say that I haven’t had my fill and look forward to the next book that is published by John Grisham.
I enjoyed Grisham return to a good legal yarn. While a little predictable, a fun read.
Very compelling. Couldn’t put it down. Another good book by author. He’s a very good writer. Looking forward to the next book.
Keeps a person on the end of there seat. Enjoyed the read very much.
After the first few lines, I couldn’t put the book down & it was an exciting and interesting read ! Thanks again, John Grisham 🙂
Me gusto debería estar mejor calificada y mas vista
I really enjoyed this book. It’s characters were likeable and believable
Reading Grisham has been my guilty pleasure for many years. I have read everything he has written except the YA books. Some books were excellent, some very good, and some just mediocre. This one was phoned in – loosey goosey story with many conveniently unexplained details. Taut and exciting can not be used in describing this story.
Buen libro, interesante, se puede recomendar, autor claro
Fast paced action. Prepare for a wild ride as the heat turns up. Hard to put down.
I read this book while on vacation and it was the perfect story to get lost in while at the same time not having to work too hard to follow the story/plot. Be sure to read the prequel first.
