A sexy standalone romance with a single dad you’ll fall hard for! It should be an easy rule to follow – don’t bang your boss…But I didn’t know who he was when I met him.And the first time I saw him, our connection sounded like the stuff of romantic legends — that whole “their eyes locked across a crowded room” moment that turned into more.I didn’t believe it. . . . until it … it. . . . until it happened to me.
Fine, the charming, clever, sexy-as-sin guy in the tailored suit was only trying to buy the same Snoopy lunchbox (as a gift!), but still, our eyes totally locked, and my lady parts definitely tingled as we vied for the prize.
Naturally, I did what any badass business woman would do. Negotiated for the lunchbox, then found my what-if guy online and made plans to see him the next night.
One night only — that was the deal we made.
But one fantastic night had us both changing our minds in the morning. And making plans for another.
Until I walked into the office to learn he just bought my company.
And here’s the biggest rule of romantic legends — no matter what, don’t bang your boss.
Especially if you’re already falling for him.
THE WHAT IF GUY is a sexy standalone you can escape into! The other standalone romances in The Guys Who Got Away series include Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend, Thanks For Last Night and The Dream Guy Next Door! A GUY WALKS INTO MY BAR is a standalone spinoff.

What a sexy romcom! Sparks fly from the start in The What If Guy and the chemistry between Logan and Bryn is nuclear. It’s equal parts workplace/office and single parent romance. One thing I really appreciated about this story is how open and honest our characters are. They aren’t ashamed of what they enjoy, aren’t afraid to vocalize it, and they completely own it. They both have been burned in the past by lies, so honesty is incredibly important to them. There isn’t any unnecessary drama in this one and when speed bumps do arise, they discuss and solve things like mature adults. Yes, there’s quite a bit of instalust/love between our characters, but the connection they share really makes it work. The POV chapters from the furry characters were hilarious too and added just the right amount of humor.
I both read and listened to this book and the duet narration by Joe Arden and Andi Arndt was fantastic. I have to say that Joe Arden was especially delicious in this one. His “enthusiastic” performance as Logan definitely had me fanning myself while listening. 😉 I also loved the cameos by Emma Wilder and Santino Fontana. Bruce’s chapters were some of my favorite and I hope to hear Santino Fontana on more of Lauren Blakely’s books in the future.

No what-if about it – I love his book! 4 stars
I love Lauren Blakely rom-coms! I laughed out loud right away at the beginning this book and continued to do so until the end! Logan and Bryn had a such an original meet-cute! They had sparks from their first meeting, and it continued during their first date and after (if you know what I mean). They not only had chemistry but connection on other levels. They were planning a second date when they find out he’s her new boss (that’s in the blurb, not a spoiler). They agree they can’t romantically see each other again, but the spark and connection had already been made. Logan was a “hot, clever, dominant yet still sweet” man, and I adored him! He deserved happiness after what his ex did. He was in the dark after his divorce, and Bryn helped bring light back into his life. Bryn also deserved happiness after what her ex did to her. She was smart, clever, spoke her mind, went after what she wanted, and I adored her too! Can they make it work after they find out he’s her new boss? Read this enjoyable, laugh out loud, sweet, sexy rom-com and find out! I recommend it!

I don’t know how Lauren Blakely do this, but she ALWAYS nails in the rom-com world!
I’m in love with Logan and I’m completely addicted to Bryn!
She’s sassy, mouthy, a real good person, and a strong empowered woman even when life haven’t been taking easy on her.
Both, Bryn and Logan had relationship’s scars, trust issues and weren’t looking for anything really. Their connection just naturally happened and was impossible to not feel it.
Their banter and text exchanged were just to good to drop it, but maybe a little too long in their building relationship.
I’m not into animal or “things” POV, but the cat’s POV were a funny addiction to the book. Grumpy cat Bruce and Queen LT were something else.
Amelia is like other kids in Lauren’s books… Smart, cute, sweet and perfect.
I love how mature her characters are. Not a single ex drama or anything too childish for an adult rom-com. Not every book has to be high on angst.
This is a light and swoon reading, with good laughs, and a few reaaaally hot moments.
Exactly what I need it!

Logan is a single dad, out to find the perfect gift for his 7-year-old daughter. Bryn is using her lock of kitsch to clear her mind in preparation for a big meeting. When they both reach for the same vintage lunchbox at the same time it sets off a chain of events that start sparks flying and their friends talking.
I loved the way they met, from the store encounter to the lead up to meeting a second and then third time. This is a meeting that goes beyond a quick glance — it’s a glance that stops time. Logan is a little closed off about dating, and is unsure how to proceed. With a little help from their friends and a new app, they turn a missed connection into a date.
As strangers, their banter is fun and flirty. After they’ve met up again, the sparks fly in a big way. They find themselves a perfect match in the bedroom, only to have a damper dropped when they find out he is her new boss. Their chemistry is off the charts, and as hard as they try to keep things professional between them, the knowledge of what they could be is tempting. They know from that one night that they just get each other in a way neither has found before. But their work relationship is a roadblock neither anticipated and working around the perceptions and stigma is something Bryn isn’t interested in after all the work she’s put into her career and reputation.
This is a great rom-com, with a perfect meet cute and fantastic tension building between the characters. It has all the characteristics that make Lauren Blakely a continual favorite — flirty, sizzling main characters, fun side characters, and quirky additions like a side plot of scheming kitties. But it also has a sizzle factor that goes beyond fun and flirty. This story fits into the The Guys Who Got Away world, and as such the cameos from friends are an added bonus. I cannot wait for Fitz’s story and maybe stories for a few more friends as well.
Very cool story! Logan is a divorced dad looking to buy a Snoopy lunchbox for his daughter. Bryn is also divorced and also wants the same lunchbox Logan wants at the same time. Well if eye contact was sex they would be having it right there in the middle of the store.
This story was very erotic and funny as hell! Even their cats give their opinions on their relationship! I love Lauren’s books and this one was excellent!
4 STARS
The What if Guy is book #2 in the Guys that Got Away Series. It can be read as standalone. This is a story filled with Lauren Blakely’s usual heart, humor and heat which I can never get enough of. I adored the witty banter between the two main characters and couldn’t get enough of the sweet, flirty moments and the feline comedy.
The book and storyline start off strong with an adorable meet cute.
Logan is a divorced single dad. He is Summer’s twin whom we meet in Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend. He has spent the last few years focused on work and his daughter and has made no time for dating or relationships.
Bryn is a super confident, successful woman. She is the VP of a lifestyle website. She has had some terrible luck with men including a cheating ex husband and also remained pretty career focused until her first encounter with Logan. After some reflection she decides she should take some of her own dating advice from her work and try to reconnect with Logan through a dating app.
The chemistry between Logan and Bryn was instant. Neither had felt a connection to another the way they did at first meet. They engage is some serious sexy times and the steam factor was off the charts. Logan is commanding and completely dominating and Bryn loved that. After their seriously sinful, passionate night reality kicks in and they realize too quickly that they have to halt a relationship from developing. After this point there was a little push and pull and wavering on how they can make things work but it wasn’t too drawn out or overdone which I completed appreciated.
What didn’t work for me was the cat POV chapters. The dialogue was interesting and I appreciate the humor Lauren tried to add in but I am not sure it really made sense with these characters. It felt out of place and if omitted would have made this a 5 star read for me.
Overall I loved this story and look forward to Fitz’s story next in A Guy Walks into My Bar.

Bryn Hawthorne was skeptical about the stuff legendary romances are made of until she had hew own meet cute with a sexy-as-sin guy while shopping for a lunchbox. There’s banter, negotiation and an out of this world date will follow.
Logan Clarke is a single dad with serious trust issues after his divorce and finding Bryn is something unexpected, especially after their spectacular date.
When Bryn and Logan realize he’s her new boss, their budding relationship will have to stay at a one-night only despite their underlying desires and this is when our story gets good.
The What If Guy is swoony, fun and sexy like everything Ms. Blakely delivers, but to top it all, I found it adorable. Yes, adorable. I simply loved Amelia’s sass, the love Logan has for her and her influence on his life. Then, there are the cats – they gave the story an even better POV and I couldn’t wait for them to come together as well.
As I usually say, whether you are a longtime fan or just happened to find Ms. Blakely, if you want a book that will leave you with a good feeling long after you finish, run towards The What If Guy.
Another hit by Lauren Blakely! I loved the What If storyline. Logan and Bryn’s banter is witty, flirty and on fire! Their chemistry is sizzling hot! Bruce and Queen LaTofu were highlights in this story. I highly recommend this book! The audiobook is just as fantastic!
I love Bruce and Queen LaTofu!
The narration was excellent! Loved Santino and Emma as Bruce and Queen LaTofu! Joe and Andi were excellent as usual. This was a really cute story. I hope Lauren writes more of these cute animal character’s into her stories.
I loved reading The What if Guy by Lauren Blakely. It was a fun and charming read that had me captivated from start to finish. Imagine meeting someone that tilts your world and you want to see if there was more there, but you walked away. What are you to do? Take the initiative and make it happen! But then, imagine your surprise when you realize the man that rocked your world is your new boss!
Logan is a single, divorced and busy raising his daughter and working. A relationship is the last thing he needs in his life right now. Bryn is strong, determined and leading the way at work. Now that she knows Logan is her boss, it should end, right? But their chemistry is truly undeniable. I just loved these two together. She helped him see beyond his jaded past and he brings out the sexy and fun times for her. I laughed so much and just lost myself in this story and the characters! I highly recommend it.

Happy reading!
This is the 2nd book in The Guys Who Got Away series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment and better understand the series, I recommend reading the series in order.
Bryn is pleasantly surprised to meet someone with whom eye contact can give her tingles. Can she take it to the net level? Can this connection be sustained? She will find out if its the last things she does.
Logan’s eye meet the woman who is wanting to buy the same item he is. If he didn’t need this for his daughter, he would happily let go and give in to the instincts that are kicking in. Sparks that fly between two people like this are rare. He should know.
This book was literally one sexy surprise after another. I will not spoil such talented content. I will however, let you know I have read almost all of this author’s titles. This is her absolute best on content alone. The revelations from each chapter for the reader are well worth this amazing read.

5 star Review of The What If Guy (The Guys Who Got Away #2) by Lauren Blakely
If you are looking for a spicy fun read then The What If Guy is the book for you. This was a great addition to Ms.Blakely’s latest series and was an entertaining read that had me riveted from the first to the last chapter.
As I have come to expect from Ms. Blakely, the story was funny with characters you cannot help but fall for and whose story I was fully invested in. Add in that our hero Logan is a single dad and I was so happy. The chemistry between Logan and Bryn is instant, in fact as soon as their eyes meet across a vintage lunch box, the sparks fly.
The addition of their cats Queen LaTofu and Bruce respectively added an additional layer and if you listen to the audio it was even better than reading their narratives. I laughed so much with the humour and banter, these characters are just so fabulous that you want to be their friends. I really loved Bryn, what a feisty, sassy, independent woman she is, whilst Logan is totally swoon worthy. Individually these characters were awesome but together they take the book to another level.
This book had me laughing and smiling throughout and is one I thoroughly enjoyed. The What If Guy is a fun romantic comedy, it’s a story of finding love when you least expect it, of taking a leap of faith and finding your soul mate.
Another fun new story from the mind of Ms. Blakely.
First off, I loved the multiple POV’s, they were surprising and so funny!
This story of Logan and Bryn is a fast-paced, couldn’t put down story until the very end!
Logan is a single dad, he went through a messy, yet amicable divorce but it has left him with some scars and trust issues. But a chance encounter, a meet-cute over a Joe Cool lunchbox, makes him hopeful again.
Bryn is a lady boss like no other! She also has had a messy divorce that has left her relying on the memories and sayings of her mom to get her through her shattered trust and vulnerabilities.
The chemistry between Logan and Bryn is hotter than a house on fire and the smexy times between them made me grab my proverbial pearls and silk fan to cool off!
I am always entertained and swooned by Ms. Blakely’s stories!

Lauren Blakely does not disappoint with her new romantic comedy. I loved Bryn and Logan from the moment they met. No two people could ever have been more perfect for each other. This workplace romance has no problem keeping the reader entertained.
“I practically served myself up on a silver platter. I had “ask me out” in neon on my forehead.” Then I shrug. “But he got a call, and we didn’t exchange numbers.”
While this type of romance has been done already it was definitely unique with their meeting over a Snoopy lunch box. I don’t know if a website like this does occur but if it doesn’t then Ms. Blakely should create one. The dynamic between Logan and Bryn is so entertaining and I was pleasantly surprised by their dirty talk and desires. It was almost as if I was reading about two different people in those scenes. It was hot!
With a groan, I admire her sexy back, the smooth, flawless skin, as I press a hand between her shoulders, pushing her down on the cushions. She lets out a lingering exhale. “Don’t make me wait too long, Logan.”
This book was not dramatic and I wasn’t expecting it to end as soon as it did. I felt like we missed out on seeing them as a couple. We got a little bit of them together but we only got to see a small part of the dynamic with his daughter. I guess I expected the single father storyline to be a more prominent part.
This woman is a riddle inside a conundrum. She’s bold and direct on the one hand, and she’s borderline submissive on the other.
Without giving too much away I have to say the stuff with the cats was a little weird for me. I thought it was cute that they talked about them but the pictures were a little much. I don’t think I would enjoy a guy I was wanting to date sending me photos of his cat. Plus, the POV was strange as well.
There is nothing wrong with texting my boss. There is nothing wrong with sharing cat photos. I repeat this mantra as I walk to work. Yep. I’m the distracted walker. The ped-text-rian with her head bent over her phone, laughing, unable to tear her gaze away.
That being said I truly did enjoy this book. I could read a book of the interactions between Logan and Bryn and be satisfied. This romantic comedy had me entertained from start to finish.
I was very intrigued by the blurb of this story and it did not disappoint! I loved and I read it in one sitting! these characters were everything!
Well this book was pretty purrfect!! I loved the story of Logan and Bryn. Bryn is a strong women who knows what she wants and Logan is happy that she does. That chance meeting and an instant connection lost, lucky there is the Made Connections app and they connect again and find their happily ever after. I really enjoyed this book and their story and in the personality of their pet cats and you get those laugh out loud moments.
GAH! I love Lauren Blakely! Single parent stories are one of my all-time favorites and Ms. Blakely completely rocked it! Logan is one hell of a sexy single dad (whew!), and Bryn was amazing! Sweet, funny, sexy, and chemistry that is off the charts – this is a huge FIVE STARS!!!
What a heartwarming, sweet, sexy and completely feel good rom com. It’s definitely got the five key components to not only a forever relationship, but to the perfect romance novel. Trust, honesty, laughter and great sex, oh, and don’t forget love. Add in those pussy cats Queen LaTofu and Bruce, and you can’t help but have a little smile on your face as you read. A wonderful story, nothing new, they meet, they indulge in a passionate night, and then bam, they find out he’s going to be her new boss. Of course there’s much more to it than that, and of course Lauren Blakeley puts her own spin on it, in the best possible way. I love how her books all intermingle, all my favourite previous book boyfriends and their loves popping up in and amongst, it makes me feel connected to the characters more. I could not get enough of Bryn and Logan, I swear there wasn’t a mean bone in either of their bodies. They were truly adorable, witty, I loved them and their group of friends. The cats also get their own epilogues, priceless. A truly addictive read.
The audio version is a dream, as always Lauren Blakeley has the best narrators, as well as Joe Arden and Andi Arndt narrating Logan and Bryn in duet, we also have the cats getting their own narrators, Emma Wilder and Santino Fontana. Add in at the end a preview of a A Guy Walks into my Bar, a fireside chat with Joe Arden and Andi Arndt, and a blooper real, and I’d say it was the perfect end to this perfect audio.
Where do I begin? This is the second book in The Guys Who Got Away series. In this story, we meet Logan, Summer’s brother. He’s the CEO of a media corporation, divorced, single dad, with an adorable daughter. And Bryn, Boss Lady extraordinaire, manages a lifestyle blog/website. They meet by chance, both reaching for the same item in a shop. The chemistry is immediate, and there’s this pull that neither can explain, but want to explore.
When Logan and Bryn are together, everything around them seems to disappear. It’s like they’ve been waiting for each other; like this was the time for them to meet; not before because it just wouldn’t have been the same. They come into their relationship with knowledge and wisdom from their pasts. They were made for each other.
Logan and Bryn’s cats, Bruce and Queen LaTofu were amazing! Santino Fontana and Emma Wilder bring these superior felines to life. I want them to have their own story. Since they’re friends, of course Logan’s friends attorney Oliver, and Fitz, our current hockey playing crush makes an appearance. Yes, we’re all waiting for his story coming up next month.
I love, love, love this story of love, loss, taking chances with your heart, and creating new adventures. Joe Arden and Andi Arndt make a great narrating team. They both give you all the feels, and Andi’s capturing of the girl power is infectious. And Joe. Well he gives great dirty talk, and is quite commanding. This audiobook was amazing, and I know I’l be listening to it again.
And be sure to keep listening for the extras after the epilogue!
Audio Review
What a fun book that is full of funny and hot sexy moments that will have you laughing one moment and swooning the next. Bryn and Logan meet in a fantastic way and the sparks are there but neither pursue those sparks. When they have time to think about it later, and discuss it with their friends, they decide to use an app to find each other. Bryn is sexy and funny and very confident in herself. She knows what she want and has no problem voicing those wants in the bedroom or wherever they happen to be. She is also a cat mom to Bruce. Logan is hot and sweet and sexy and a great dad both to a sweet little girl and also a spoiled cat named Queen LaTofu. One more thing, Logan turns out to be Bryn’s new boss.
This is so much fun and the heat is smoking hot. You get it all with this book and a bonus of a cats life from Bruce and Queen T’s perspective courtesy of Santino Fontana and Emma Wilder.
Joe Arden and Andi Arndt are two of my favorite narrators and they were great in this book. Perfection.
I loved this book and highly recommend it. This author never disappoints me, she always delivers an entertaining and sexy story that keeps my interest and gives me all the feels.
