A sexy standalone romance with a single dad you’ll fall hard for! It should be an easy rule to follow – don’t bang your boss…But I didn’t know who he was when I met him.And the first time I saw him, our connection sounded like the stuff of romantic legends — that whole “their eyes locked across a crowded room” moment that turned into more.I didn’t believe it. . . . until it … it. . . . until it happened to me.
Fine, the charming, clever, sexy-as-sin guy in the tailored suit was only trying to buy the same Snoopy lunchbox (as a gift!), but still, our eyes totally locked, and my lady parts definitely tingled as we vied for the prize.
Naturally, I did what any badass business woman would do. Negotiated for the lunchbox, then found my what-if guy online and made plans to see him the next night.
One night only — that was the deal we made.
But one fantastic night had us both changing our minds in the morning. And making plans for another.
Until I walked into the office to learn he just bought my company.
And here’s the biggest rule of romantic legends — no matter what, don’t bang your boss.
Especially if you’re already falling for him.
THE WHAT IF GUY is a sexy standalone you can escape into! The other standalone romances in The Guys Who Got Away series include Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend, Thanks For Last Night and The Dream Guy Next Door! A GUY WALKS INTO MY BAR is a standalone spinoff.

Lauren Blakely is synonymous of sensual stories to distract the mind and cheer the heart so even if I owed my blogs several readings and reviews as soon as I read this synopsis of single dad I just couldn’t resist: I took the book, skipped the line and ran to the hug.
What. a. Delicious. Hug!
What. a. Wonderful. Guy!
Wha. a. Cute.Story!
Bryn is a columnist for a lifestyle website. A business woman, fun, competent, sexy and longing for the presence of her mother with whom she made road trips. In a dispute over a vintage lunch box, she discovers the strength of locking eyes.
The owner of the fatal look that conquers Bryn is Logan, a businessman, fun, loyal, beautiful, gentle, gentleman, attractive and dedicated father. He is not interested in relationships, much less looking for a mother for his cute daughter but when he finds himself holding the same lunchbox with a stunning and good-humored woman, he feels the click …
Click that leads to a hopeful search for the Snoppy fan girl, as he misses the chance to ask for this beautiful woman’s phone number and ask her out. Cyber fate has plans for this couple and they manage to arrange the desired date.
After an explosive and hot night, they discover they can’t be together because Logan just bought the company that Bryn works for. Even with sparks flying at each meeting, they behave well and between text exchange, smart cats and hilarious conversations, they will need to find out if the connection they have is worth the consequences of continuing with their date.
I loved the story so much, their friends, the couple and everything that led to Happily Ever After. Now I urgently need the story of Fitz and Random.
5/5 stars
While I liked the other books I‘ve read from Lauren Blakely so far. I didn‘t like this one as much as the others. Logan and Bryn‘s story didn‘t feel as steamy or romantic as others. Individualy those two are pretty great and you can see the lust between them, but for me those two aren‘t endgame. It didn‘t feel right and very rushed.
Bryn and Logan are both very career driven and share a similar connection due to their past relationships.
The writing as always was really really good and the story itself has alot of potential. There were a few steamy scenes. But what I really didn‘t like about this book were the chapters written in the POV of the cats. It was supposed to be funny, but for me it was annoying.
Sadly this book wasn‘t particularly my cup of tea but maybe it is for someone else who is looking for a fun, easy read. It wasn‘t bad but it could‘ve been better.

The What If Guy is the second title in The Guys Who Got Away series but can be read as a standalone.
The What If Guy is packed full of heat, heart and humor. I thoroughly enjoyed Bryn and Logan’s story that is both heartwarming, sexy and sweet.
The characters are completely endearing, whilst both have been burned by past relationships, they are mature, and relatable. Bryn is a confident, successful, strong and sassy heroine, whilst Logan is a sexy, successful and hard working single father. Their banter is witty, flirtatious and fun and the chemistry kicks off right from the very beginning.
Overall a very enjoyable and easy read that I highly recommend.
I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am

I absolutely adored this story and I fell hard for both main characters Bryn and Logan. They have the cutest first meeting but they get interrupted and then a website helps them find each other again. They barely have time to get to know each other when Logan and Bryn find out he is the new owner of the digital magazine she runs.
This book features a great set of characters from Bryn’s co-workers and friends to Logan’s sister and best friends and son. Yes Logan is a single dad too, so if you like romance at work and single dad romances then this story is one you will love.
Logan and Bryn bring the sass, flirtation and adorableness to the forefront in this romcom. Both have been scorned by their exes and tell themselves that they don’t need a lifelong companion, but secretly they envy their friends who seem to have it all.
Their meet cute was great and their subsequent second meeting, as well as the reason behind the second meeting are wonderful. The cats, who are actually the masterminds behind the whole thing bring a hilarious point of view to the book. Logan and Bryn are such relatable characters that you find yourself falling right along with them.
I don’t know how Ms. Blakely finds all of these new, hilarious, inventive ways for characters to meet and have the relationship be organic and honest at the same time. Logan is everything you could want in a man and Bryn is a strong woman. I enjoyed the banter, the trust between the characters and seeing Bryn being able to give up control of certain things but not becoming soft.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest, voluntary review.
This is book 2 in The Guys Who Got Away series and it can be read as a standalone. Loved this story so much. Great workplace/single dad rom-com that will have you laughing one minute and swooning the next. Loved Logan and Brynn. The connection was instant from the first time they meet. They had a great chemistry that was so hot. It was so much fun watching them fall for each other. Great read that will leave you smiling when you are finished. Can’t wait to read the next story in this series.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Who hasn’t had a “moment” with a stranger and thought “what if they were the one?” I know I have! I’ve mentally been married to a guy I met at the grocery store, Best Buy, or in the airport more than once and mentally kicked my own ass many times for letting the moment pass. What if a website could turn those fleeting moments of stomach butterflies and flirtation from a missed opportunity to a connection made? I think the overwhelming success of dating sites (even in the face of dick pics galore) prove people are looking for exactly that… connection. Blakely’s What If Guy does what we all wish we would’ve… after an awesome meet cute, they find each other!
I LOVED this book! The characters were amazing, the banter smart and funny and the cats; the cats were characters all their own! Some of my favorite chapters were the cats!! (And I’m a dog person!) This is a must read of snappy dialog, smart, relatable characters, the sizzling sexiness we all crave and fantastic kids and pets! It’s got it all! Can’t wait for the next book in this series!
AnnMarie – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
THE WHAT IF GUY by Lauren Blakely is book Two in The Guys Who Got Away Series. This is the story of Logan Clarke and Bryn Hawthorn. I haven’t read the previous book yet, so for me this was a standalone book. Both Bryn and Logan are single but haven’t had good past relationships. But when they accidentally meet they feel a spark there. But they do end up getting a second chance meeting that lets them start to work through what they are feeling. Logan is also a single dad so that added to the story. This book has some funny scene and this author kept me engaged in the book until the very end. Enjoyed and hope to read more from her in the future.
THE WHAT IF GUY is the second instalment in Lauren Blakely’s contemporary, adult THE GUYS WHO GOT AWAY erotic, romance series focusing on a tight-knit group of friends. This is lifestyle website manager Bryn Hawthorne, and media finance entrepreneur / single father Logan Clarke’s story line. THE WHAT IF GUY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Bryn and Logan), as well as third person from our couple’s cats, and several text messages between our leading couple, THE WHAT IF GUY follows the building romance and relationship between thirty-two years olds, lifestyle website manager Bryn Hawthorne, and media finance entrepreneur / single father Logan Clarke. Bryn Hawthorne is a collector but when a handsome stranger wants the same Snoopy lunchbox as Bryn has been coveting, all bets are off when Bryn posts an ad in the ‘Made Connections’ chat room in an effort to find the man that caught her eye. With a connection made, Logan and Bryn agree to see one another followed by a wild night of passionate $ex neither one will ever forget. But a buyout of the copy for which Bryn currently works finds our heroine face to face with her new boss and CEO Logan Clarke, and the future of their relationship is about to be put on hold. Days of uncontained sexual attraction followed by nights of texting one another force our couple to come to a decision regarding their future, and their time together both inside and outside of the boardroom. What ensues is the building but forbidden romance and relationship between Logan and Bryn, and the potential fall-out if management determines their relationship goes against company policy.
Bryn Hawthorne has already loved and lost when she discovered her husband wanted more than Bryn was able to give. Logan Clarke’s first wife left after having an affair but his love for his daughter Amelia is currently the most important relationship in his life. Meeting Bryn Hawthorne gives Logan a second chance at love but discovering he is technically Bryn’s boss puts a damper on their future plans.
The relationship between Bryn and Logan is one of immediate attraction. Bryn is sexually aggressive and knows what she wants-she demands honesty both in and out of the bedroom. Logan is a man who is ready to move forward, and Bryn is the woman that will allow him to become the lover he has always wanted to be. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. The back and forth texting is sexy and fun.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Logan’s friends Fitz and Ransom, Christian, and Oliver; his daughter Amelia, and his ex-wife Stacey; Bryn’s co-workers and friends Teagan, Hadley, Rosario, Matthew, Quentin, Isaac and James; sex toy company owner Casey Sullivan as well as Logan’s cat Queen LaTofu, and Bryn’s cat Bruce.
THE WHAT IF GUY is story of friendships, family, passion and love. The premise is energetic, sexy and fun; the romance is provocative and intense; the characters are spirited and impassioned. THE WHAT IF GUY is a delightful and playful story of forbidden love and happily ever after.
Well, talk about chemistry! Logran and Bryn will burn the pages of the story from the beginning. There is nothing quite like having characters who are not afraid of being themselves or talking about their feelings, as well as being open to listen and understand what the other one is going through.
The connection between these two is undeniable, sparks fly out of the pages and it will have you rooting for them to solve whatever issues they encounter, while trying to find their HEA. They give us funny moments and swoony ones. Moments that you will want to repeat over and over because they are just that good.
Fun and deliciously sweet.
The What If Guy is forbidden, fun and deliciously hot! Bryn and Logan’s mutual love for Snoopy brings them together, but finding out Logan is Bryn’s new boss just might tear them apart before they even really begin. The attraction and chemistry between them is out of this world. The harder they try to stay apart the more the are drawn to the other. I loved their banter, back and forth texts and mutual love of their cats. The cats alone will keep a smile on your face. I absolutely loved this book!
I absolutely loved this book! Everything about it, the storyline, the meet cute and especially both the main characters.
Logan is a single dad and in my eyes he’s pretty perfect. He’s an alpha but doesn’t come across cocky or arrogant and the only time he gets bossy is in the bedroom. Bryn is smart, witty and confident. Together they have the kind of chemistry that those around them can feel. They each have a cat, and both cats tell their own story which I thought was brilliantly funny and unique!
This was was a refreshing change of all the angst I’ve been reading lately. It was an easy and quick read and will be one of the books I put on my to be read again list.
The What If Guy
By: Lauren Blakely
Narrated by: Joe Arden, Andi Arndt, Santino Fontana, Emma Wilder
Single dads are one of my kryptonite and Lauren Blakely pulls me in with The What If Guy! Logan and Bryn meet over the purchase in the store, and find themselves wanting more. Finding each other on a dating app, the two get together and the story begins, only to find out that Logan is Bryn’s new boss. Secret dates, hot nights, a beautiful daughter to hang with and two cats that bring out all the laugh out loud moments make this book fly by. I fell for Logan, the love for his daughter is beautiful, the way he treats Bryn and his passion so high. Bryn is fantastic, independent, and takes the dive. This is one of my favorites, with the flirty banter and the cats just were icing on the cake. I am loving this series and will be watching for the next one!
I can’t say enough good things about the narration in this book. Joe Arden and Andi Arndt are seasoned narrators, and every time I hear them, I think it’s my favorite performance. This one is a standout for me. They nailed Logan and Bryn. Add in Emma Wilder and Santino Fontana as the cats and the comedic timing is impeccable. Perfect voices for this book!

This book was amazing! I adored Logan and Bryn. He was the sweetest to his daughter! I loved that there was no angst/ trouble with their relationship. There is always some reason for the angst but none was needed in this book.
This story is, by far, my favorite by this author.
4.5 Swoon Worthy, Delightful Stars!!
The What If Guy is a full-length, romantic comedy standalone, with a single dad you’ll fall hard for, with no cliffhangers, and an HEA. Just the way you like it!
The storyline is beautifully well-written, sweet, fun, steamy, and heartwarming. The characters are wonderful, likeable, and believable. The story is perfectly blended, well-balanced, and very compelling.
Logan and Bryn had trust issues due to their bad experiences with past relationships. Would they be able to move past it? I love seen strong, independent female characters that can speak their mind. I love and enjoy their fun flirty banter, and their passionate dirty side. Their connection is contagious, and their chemistry is of the charts.
However, the one thing that really stole my heart, is Logan’s love for his kid.
All in all, this was an amazing read that I highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed!
Logan and Bryn’s romance was a breath of fresh air, what with two characters who had no pretenses and were upfront about who they were and what they wanted and needed, and not just from each other! Time wasn’t wasted on meanderings and miscommunication or unnecessary drama. This was about two people who shared a once-in-a-lifetime connection and while there was some fair amount of contemplation because of everything that was at stake, when they decided they were all in, they were ALL IN. The added elements of Logan being a single parent and Bryn being an independent and ambitious woman get major snaps because they were done well and without compromise. Everything just blended so amazingly together and I couldn’t have chosen a better book to spend a couple or so hours kicking back and relaxing with. No ifs, ands, or buts–The What If Guy is a five-plus-starred read.
This book exceeded all of my expectations, but then again this doesn’t surprise me. Logan’s character was introduced in Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend where we got to see glimpses of his relationship with his twin sister, close friends and with his daughter. I was really excited to get to know him in his book, The What If Guy, and I completely fell in love with him. Despite having had a “failed” marriage that left him as a single dad, Logan wasn’t oppose to falling in love again. He hadn’t close his heart. He was still hopeful and opened to finding the perfect woman for him, Bryn.
Bryn, Bryn, Bryn!! What a spit fire, intelligent, independent woman. I think she is probably one of my favorite heroins. She was so outspoken and confident. She was not shy about expressing her desires to Logan. They were a perfect match!
What I loved most about this book is the different factors that played into Logan and Bryn connecting. From their first encounter with the Snoopy Lunch Box, to their post on missed connections, to Logan being Bryn’s new boss. These two were absolutely meant to connect at some point in their lives. This was a somewhat “love at first sight” type of story but it was so brilliantly written that it doesn’t seem like an “insta-love.” There was so much character development. We got to experience the progression of Logan and Bryn’s relationship from strangers to lovers to friends to more intense lovers, to boss/employee to forbidden lovers to taking a chance, risking it all and falling in love.
I cannot get enough of this interconnecting world Lauren Blakely has created. Every story gives us more than the story between the two main characters. We get their families and friends and there is so much interaction that gets us excited for more. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
**I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.**
The What If Guy is the second book in The Guys Who Got Away series by the talented Lauren Blakely. If you read Dear Sexy Ex Boyfriend, you might remember Logan, Summer’s brother. This is his story! He’s a single dad who pretty much works and spends time with his daughter. He doesn’t date much, but when he meets Bryn when they both want the same retro lunch box, he wants her. They don’t exchange numbers, but use a new app to find each other. Dinner turns into one wild night in the bedroom and plans for more. But when they find out Logan’s company just bought Bryn’s, it’s over. She can’t date her boss. She’s worked too hard to be that woman. But he’s so sexy, sweet and thoughtful. And dominant and makes her body tingle. Bryn is the first woman who makes Logan want more. Crave more. She wants exactly what he does in the bedroom. How is going to let her go? Is it possible Logan isn’t just the “What if Guy”? Can he be Bryn’s Forever Guy? I love this story! I love that Logan wasn’t going to let their circumstances stand in the way of him getting the woman he wants. I loved that they are both career driven but want to make it work between them. Logan is one of my favorite single dads! I was swooning all over the place! Overall, I laughed, teared up, got hot and bothered, and loved every word.
I love a good single dad romance, and Lauren Blakely hit this one out of the park! I absolutely loved Logan and Brynn! And omg they had the best meet cute that involves a snoopy lunch box.
I loved the easy flow of the story and the connection between these two characters was instant. The chemistry? Off the charts.
Loved this book! Logan and Brynn make love look so easy and so right.
