A sexy standalone romance with a single dad you’ll fall hard for! It should be an easy rule to follow – don’t bang your boss…But I didn’t know who he was when I met him.And the first time I saw him, our connection sounded like the stuff of romantic legends — that whole “their eyes locked across a crowded room” moment that turned into more.I didn’t believe it. . . . until it … it. . . . until it happened to me.
Fine, the charming, clever, sexy-as-sin guy in the tailored suit was only trying to buy the same Snoopy lunchbox (as a gift!), but still, our eyes totally locked, and my lady parts definitely tingled as we vied for the prize.
Naturally, I did what any badass business woman would do. Negotiated for the lunchbox, then found my what-if guy online and made plans to see him the next night.
One night only — that was the deal we made.
But one fantastic night had us both changing our minds in the morning. And making plans for another.
Until I walked into the office to learn he just bought my company.
And here’s the biggest rule of romantic legends — no matter what, don’t bang your boss.
Especially if you’re already falling for him.
THE WHAT IF GUY is a sexy standalone you can escape into! The other standalone romances in The Guys Who Got Away series include Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend, Thanks For Last Night and The Dream Guy Next Door! A GUY WALKS INTO MY BAR is a standalone spinoff.

Straight out of the gate, Lauren Blakely took me right to my happy place with her latest romantic comedy, The What If Guy. If you’ve followed my reviews, you know I am a huge fan of Blakely’s writing, her romcoms in particular. The What If Guy is right up my alley—this was my jam. Fabulously flirty banter, electric chemistry—the kind that had me looking around to make sure no one was reading over my shoulder—and a wonderfully entertaining plot that was low on the angsty drama but high on the good stuff like the connection, the relationship, the romance.
Single dad, Logan, was everything I love in my heroes. He was commanding without being domineering, alpha without being arrogant. He was thoughtful, he was kind, and it all came together in a wonderfully hot and handsome package. Bryn, the heroine, was sharp, vibrant, and a woman who knew what she wanted. She was driven and successful, and I loved her whip smart wit and her unapologetic sexuality. Oh yes, this couple was FIRE.
An unexpected meet cute that didn’t quite materialize and ends in a missed connection. Kismet—with the help of a little technology—intervenes to turn it around for this couple. Fate is a fickle mistress, though, and right after an unbelievably fantastic first date, she steps in again to throw an unanticipated workplace wrinkle into their budding relationship. This is where the fun begins. The do they or don’t they, the push and pull—the what if—that Blakely does so well. The kind of chemistry she creates on the page between Logan and Bryn make ignoring it entirely impossible.
The What If Guy by Lauren Blakely was a bit forbidden but that just made it more delicious. Lighthearted and heartwarming, this feel-good story was romantic and steamy, witty and charming, and full of all the easy feels I love from this author. Five smooches from me for The What If Guy by Lauren Blakely!

What I liked about this story was that it felt like how real life people get to know each other and form a relationship. I liked the way Logan and Bryn met and how they learned about each others likes and interests. It felt genuine and how we typically going about getting to know someone we’re interested in. It made this one all the more sweeter. The chapters from the cat’s pov was hilarious. Although, I will say sometimes it felt like Logan being a single father was more of an afterthought.
Lauren Blakely does it again. A wonderful story filled with delicious naughtiness and not to be forgotten EVER hysterical cat thoughts.
The What If Guy is a sweet connection and a fun romp through Logan’s love life. [Oh how I wished there were more because Logan….(fans self) is ridiculously hot in the bedroom (or out of it in his case).
Hilarious and hot. I loved the chapters where the cats are POV. It’s great as an audiobook too. Joe and Andi are wonderful.
This is an okay read but I was expecting so much more. Lots of laughing and such. So I was let down a bit.
Loved this book! Such a fun story! And the characters were a little older and in a different stage of life than typical romance novels which made this a bit more enjoyable!
Andi Ardnt and Joe Arden played the two lead characters. I love Andi and I adore Joe!
The cats were played by Emma Wilder and Santino Fontana! Oh my that was a fun twist in a book to have the cats have their own point if view lol
And there was a tiny snippet of Connor Crais in the middle and that was a fun surprise!
5 SMOLDERING ‘S!!!
What a fabulously entertaining read!!!
This complicated love connection was amazing to behold. You felt every single word you read.
Their devastating pasts only reinforce the sizzling connection they both feel.
The cat scenes were epicly amusing and light heartedly endearing.
Thank you, author,, for all the smiles on this one. xoxo
Love the bond they had together
With each and every one of Lauren’s books I finish I fall more and more in love with her writing, characters and style.
I absolutely loved this book, Bryn and Logan are such awesome characters each on their own and utterly perfect together.
I love how Lauren doesn’t manufacture a crisis just to adhere to the typical romance template and how strong and open all her characters are.
This series has been an absolute joy to read and I highly recommend it to literally anyone who loves love.
5 stars and a moment.
A sexy single dad who’s smart, successful, sexy, AND a cat lover? Who could resist?!?
Certainly not me, I can assure you. I fell head over heels for Logan immediately. To be fair, I was already intrigued with him during Oliver’s story, and he didn’t disappoint! Logan is funny, sexy, charming, and a little bit quirky. And if that wasn’t reason enough to love him, he has two amazing sides to his personality that are irresistible. On one hand, he’s this amazingly sweet, caring man with a great sense of humor and a passion for his daughter. But on the other hand? This man is dominant, dirty, and all-together yummy. You’re going to LOVE him!
I really liked Bryn in this story. She’s so strong, smart, funny, resilient, and career-oriented. She knows what she wants and she makes things happen. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind and she’s a perfect match for Logan, both in and out of the bedroom.
Talk about chemistry! Logan and Bryn had plenty of it from the very beginning. These two burn up the pages with their sexiness but also make you laugh with their witty banter and swoon at their sweetness. This well-balanced romance is perfect, and exactly what we’ve come to know and love from Lauren Blakely. I highly recommend snagging this book!
I love this series so much! In this book we get Logan (from Dr Sexy Ex Boyfriend, my favorite story) and Bryn.
Their story all started over a lunchbox, of all things!!
Logan is a smoking hot dad with an adorable daughter!! Definitely a book, I’ll read again!
Lauren Blakely has done it again! The What If Guy is an fantastic story with memorable characters and well written dialogue!
I had the chance to listen to this story and it is a fun, flirty romance that had me smiling and laughing all the way through. The narrators did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life, especially Bruce and Queen LaTofu! If you want to know who these characters are listen for yourself and enjoy!
You will easily fall for Bryn and Logan, his daughter and their two crazy cats. Bryn and Logan meet over a cartoon lunchbox, they have chemistry but never exchange numbers. So, when circumstances put them in each other’s paths again that is where the fun and all the steamy moments begin!
I loved this book, from the meet to the chemistry to the conclusion it was exactly what I love about romance. Low on drama high on love and friendship and flirtation, I really just enjoyed these characters.
I also really liked that when a problem arises they come to a conclusion that works for both of them.
The cat POV’s, maybe if they were at the end of the book I don’t know it seemed to take me out of the story. I liked them but more as a side story thing. It cute sure but there was another book I read that had this and it just isn’t really my thing. And I LOVE cats. I don’t know I guess we all just like what we like.
The narrators were perfect. Joe and Andi are fantastic <3
In true Lauren Blakely fashion this is a witty, sassy, flirty and highly entertaining story. Logan and Bryn embark on a sweet, charming, and heartfelt journey. Their chemistry and connection was undeniable. I especially enjoyed the humorous POV of the cats. This is a definite must read. I enjoyed and adored every single second of this story.
This great and sweet romance is the perfect reading. I loved the chemistry between Logan & Bryn, they are instantly electric and it intensifies during the book. This author is great, she writes about this group of friends who have an awesome dynamics, and you want to continue reading about them. I loved that both of them are not that young and that they have water under the bridge, careers, previous relationship and lives. I prefer this kind of books. I really recommend this book.
Lauren has once again given me exactly what I love in a couple. Oh my heavens what a fabulously cute, sexy, funny romance !!! Logan and Bryn pulled me right into their world with the unique and funny meet cute! Right from the get go this couple had spark, witty intelligent banter and you could not wait to see where they would take you. A chance meeting over a Snoopy lunch box that leads to the modern day idea of taking an ad out to find someone! Get ready to be thoroughly entertained and get all the feels with this sexy, laugh out loud take on modern day take on dating !!!

I loved “The What If Guy” by Lauren Blakely, a funny, sweet, and charming story with some definite heat and fantastic banter between main characters Bryn and Logan. I especially enjoyed the unexpectedly quirky addition of chapters narrated by their cats, which made me laugh out loud and ended up being some of my favorite parts of the book.
It was easy for me to empathize with the dilemma Logan and Bryn faced in regards to dating after they learned that they would be working together. It’s sad but true that Bryn would have been judged more harshly than Logan for the relationship simply because she was female, so IMO her fears regarding going public were completely justified. However, I really appreciated that the topic was addressed and that Bryn and Logan made the effort to go about things the right way rather than sneaking around and hoping for the best.
In addition to the central romance between Bryn and Logan, it was great to catch up with Logan’s twin sister Summer and her fiance, Logan’s best friend Oliver, as well as their mutual friend Fitz. Pro hockey player Fitz is such a charming rogue and I can’t wait to read his story in just a few weeks!
Overall, “The What If Guy” was yet another wonderful read from Lauren Blakely, and I highly recommend it for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy.

Logan and Bryn are hilarious and great. I always enjoy Lauren’s books. The What if Guy is another awesome story.
The What If Guy by Lauren Blakely is the second book in her latest series, The Guys Who Got Away . A story of an office romance mixed with single dad story line. Bryn is a successful business woman who knows what she wants, is good to everyone and is just what single-dad Logan never knew he was looking for. Logan is a single-dad with a desire to be with someone honest and real, who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to ask for it. When these two meet by kismet over a struggle for a Snoopy lunchbox their fates are forever intertwined. Too bad they didn’t know that they had more in common than Snoopy, mainly the lifestyle blog that Bryn is content manager for that Logan just purchased. Told in mostly dual POV from Bryn and Logan we do get a few small chapters from their feline companions Bruce and Queen LT. Enjoy!

This is my first time reading a Lauren Blakely book (Don’t say it…it’s not like I’ve been reading under a rock). I usually stay away from well-known authors, but I kept hearing great things, so there I went.
This is a somewhat shorter story about two people that meet (Logan and Bryn), feel a spark, get together for a short time liaison, only to discover that Logan is Bryn’s new boss. It has been done a million times, with various degrees of success.
In this case, it is a light, fun, enjoyable read with a hot single dad, a woman that has certain preferences and is a total boss lady, and the guy that has finally met his match and can hit those sweet hot spots.
I believe Ms.Blakely is successful in reinventing the wheel here because there are so many fresh elements, the first one being their meet-cute ( the feminist twist to the story and the two cats are my favorites) as to make this shiny and new. The heat level is delish, the banter is on point, the What if Guy is a well crafted Mojito (with rum, motherfuckers, because this is a Cuban drink, coño!) on a perfect summer day!
May Bruce and Queen Latofu also live happily ever after! Five paws to The What If Guy!
