A sexy standalone romance with a single dad you’ll fall hard for! It should be an easy rule to follow – don’t bang your boss…But I didn’t know who he was when I met him.And the first time I saw him, our connection sounded like the stuff of romantic legends — that whole “their eyes locked across a crowded room” moment that turned into more.I didn’t believe it. . . . until it … it. . . . until it happened to me.
Fine, the charming, clever, sexy-as-sin guy in the tailored suit was only trying to buy the same Snoopy lunchbox (as a gift!), but still, our eyes totally locked, and my lady parts definitely tingled as we vied for the prize.
Naturally, I did what any badass business woman would do. Negotiated for the lunchbox, then found my what-if guy online and made plans to see him the next night.
One night only — that was the deal we made.
But one fantastic night had us both changing our minds in the morning. And making plans for another.
Until I walked into the office to learn he just bought my company.
And here’s the biggest rule of romantic legends — no matter what, don’t bang your boss.
Especially if you’re already falling for him.
THE WHAT IF GUY is a sexy standalone you can escape into! The other standalone romances in The Guys Who Got Away series include Dear Sexy Ex-Boyfriend, Thanks For Last Night and The Dream Guy Next Door! A GUY WALKS INTO MY BAR is a standalone spinoff.

This was actually a cute non dramatic read. Bryn and Logan had chemistry from the beginning!! They had so many things in common like going thru a divorce with dishonest spouses and both are very dedicated to their jobs but after meeting each other they realized that needed a companion. Logan was an amazing dad with the coolest daughter. Bryn was also pretty cool herself and had great friends. This story had no drama whatsoever and I loved it!!! There was a small twist which actually turned out well but what I enjoyed the most was how these two met and reconnected. Very good read with some funny moments.
This is my new favorite book by Lauren, I fell in love with ALL the characters, and I know you will to!
We meet Bryn, still hurting after her divorce, but moving on with her cat Bruce, who will have you cracking up, and devoting more time to her job. When her job has her searching for the stranger she met that day, Logan, a divorced single dad to Amelia & their cat Queen LaTofu, when they fought over a Snoopy lunch box, she takes to an online place where you look for that one encounter you wish you could do over. And what are the chances he will actually see it? Apparently very good when he messages her and they agree to meet.
Read along and enjoy this story, I loved every page of it! Lauren never disappoints with her stories, this one just happened to jump and settle in my heart.. Grab it asap!
Adorable, dirty, and lots of fun! The What If Guy is exactly what I love in a contemporary romance novel!
Logan is a single dad and just a bit rusty in the dating department. Bryn is a tad gunshy in the dating world herself, but when these two have a connection over a Snoopy lunchbox nonetheless, but are unable to close the dating deal while making flirty banter over Joe Cool, a new app helps them meet and have that first amazing date.
It isn’t until after a fantastic, whirlwind night that they both discover that Logan is the new CEO of Bryn’s company and that second date they’d planned isn’t exactly appropriate. However, it is really hard to resist the temptation when it is working just down the hall. What if this is destiny and they both pass it up? What if this is forever and instead they missed their chance.
The What If Guy is fun and very steamy. I loved every moment of this book! (P.S. the cats in this books are priceless)!
Lauren Blakely, the Queen of RomCom’s has done once again. The What if Guy the second book in The Guys Who Got Away Series, in this installment we get Logan and Bryn’s story. But its Queen LaTofu and Bruce that will steal the show.
Don’t bang your boss, lol, words to live by. However, when it’s meant to be it’s meant to be. Logan and Bryn have that spark when they meet the first time you can’t ignore, they flirt and negotiate a date over their love of a Snoopy lunchbox. All goes great until a huge surprise awaits them after their night of steamy sex. Can they have what they both really want?
I loved how much Logan loved his daughter Amelia, she was a little spitfire. It was also great to catch up with Summer and Oliver, I can’t wait for Fritz’s book!
This book should come with a warning label….it’s so hot!
I don’t know how Lauren does it, but she’s given us fans another winning story!! I thought her last book was my new favorite, but I was wrong. This book is awesome! This is the story of Logan Clarke (who we met in Dear Sexy Ex Boyfriend) and Bryn Hawthorne. The way that these two meet is hilarious and it sucked you right into the story and doesn’t let you go. That Logan is one hot dominant man and I love how he knows exactly what Bryn needs and wants. Add in that he’s a single dad with a cute little girl and you can’t help swooning over him. I also love how Lauren writes Bryn as a strong, confident take charge woman, yet she has a great witty and flirty side to her too. This book has everything you could want in a romance story. We also get to revisit with Oliver and Summer and let’s not forget Fitz. I can’t wait to read his story.
This book definitely checked off all my RomCom boxes and so much more!! Yes it’s super fun, flirty and full of humor like all Ms. Blakely’s RomComs; but this one is also very sexy and verrrryyyyy hot and steamy!! Like pour a bucket of ice over me and turn the fan on steamy!!! Five Alarm Fire Hot!!
It was my absolute pleasure to listen to this Audiobook!! It is amazing! The incredible voice acting of the extremely talented Joe Arden and Andi Arndt as Logan and Bryn brought this already perfect story to life in a way that put it way over the top in the must listen category!! And because it is done as duet narration it is even better because it’s like real time interactions between the character. Joe’s voice is just so sexy and a real treat for the ears. All of his emotions and passion come through so clearly in his performance. I love Andi’s voice too and the fun flirty sexy and sassy Bryn comes through loud and clear.
Logan and Bryn are more perfectly matched than they ever could have imagined and have a super adorable meet-cute that goes beyond the first in person interaction. They have so much in common and are alike in all the ways that matter for a successful relationship! The fact that Logan is a charming, smart, sexy, successful single dad to a sweet and smart little girl (Amelia) and he also wears Clark Kent glasses to read is a huge bonus. That’s like my personal kryptonite! Pun intended. I just adore him!! And Bryn is amazing too! She is also very smart, driven, caring and fun. I love her! I also love that they are both cat people and treat them like the family members they are. And Bruce and Queen LaTofu? Well they are just a double bonus. I love their chapters!! Santino Fontana voices Bruce and Emma Wilder does queen LaTofu. They are so good!! As a cat owner myself, I often wonder what mine are thinking and what they would say if they could talk. So cute and fun!! I read the book first but listening to it brought it to a whole new level of awesomeness!!!
So yeah, I loved everything about this book from sweet beginning to the HEA that Bryn and Logan so deserve; topped off by phenomenal voice acting!!
4.5+ stars
This is a sweet, snappy, flirty, and dirty rom-com with a lot of heart and even a kid and a couple of persnickety cats.
Logan Clarke is a divorced single dad who has not really had any relationships in the past couple of years. He is busy with his financial work, his daughter, and his friend…and has trust issues.
Bryn Hawthorne is VP for a lifestyle website. She is smart, direct, and thrives on being a lady boss. She loves her work and team, and writing lifestyle pieces. Sometimes life imitates art and they test their articles in the real world.
They have an unexpected meet-cute moment but ended up going away unsatisfied. But what if? With a little help they find a way to connect again. They shared one amazing night that was more than they could imagine, but then the next day real-life kicked them in the a**.
But can they do the right thing and avoid the pull or do they take a risk and deal with the consequences?
I loved them together. Logan has been jaded and cautious, but she makes him want to be more spontaneous and brings out the dirty, alpha side of him. Bryn is able to be herself and be honest about what she wants and needs. They just get each other and are compatible in ALL ways. They have such fun and flirty banter, and their chemistry is hot hot hot! They are the perfect balance for each other during sexy times. But there is just one big problem that seems to overshadow everything.
I loved getting more with all of their friends and some fun cameos. I loved that have cats with their own personal motivations and that he is an amazing single dad. I enjoyed the fact that they acted like mature adults, and believed in honesty and communication. There is not a bunch of unnecessary relationship angst. I liked that even though it was steamy, there was relationship development in other ways as well. It is just an enjoyable witty, sexy read with lovable characters. I am so excited for more with the hockey player, Fitz, and hopefully his teammate Ransom too.
