Welcome to Nocturne Falls, the town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year.
The tourists think it’s all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
Getting arrested wasn’t on werewolf Ivy Kincaid’s agenda when … wasn’t on werewolf Ivy Kincaid’s agenda when she arrived in Nocturne Falls, but her life rarely goes according to plan. The upside of spending the night in the local lock-up is finding a hotel room is no longer a worry…but the downside is the man she’s come to marry will get his first impression of her behind bars. Not exactly the way Ivy was hoping to meet her pack’s sworn enemy…aka her fiancé.
Sheriff (and werewolf) Hank Merrow is the alpha’s heir. Everything he’s ever done, from becoming an Army Ranger to serving in law enforcement, has been in preparation for the day he’ll take over. Getting married to cement a shaky truce is no different. Hank will do his duty, even if it means shackling himself to a woman he has no intention of liking, let alone loving.
But Ivy is nothing like Hank expected. As feisty as she is beautiful, she’s as determined as he is to make a go of marriage for the sake of peace between their packs. The trouble is, Ivy has secrets that could destroy everything Hank holds dear…including his newfound love for her.

The Werewolf Meets His Match is book two in the Nocturne Falls series by Kristen Painter.
This story was entertaining, fun, and easy to read. I enjoy the concept of a town that celebrates Halloween 365 days a year and supernaturals can be who they are.
Here we meet Hank Merrow the town Sheriff, werewolf, and first born son of the Alpha. We also meet Ivy Kincaid the bad girl, werewolf, and wants out of her situation, but only has one option and that’s to do what her father says. I’m not a fan of Ivy, but I can understand her not trusting easily. I felt she should have told Hank, but I can see why she held back. Hank I loved. He’s a sweet man, Army Ranger, and Sheriff of the town, so he’s a hero and has a good head on his shoulder.
This is an instalove storyline. An arranged marriage to formalize the treaty between packs, but their are other things in play too. Hank and Ivy have three days to get to know each other; before they tie the knot. This was a fast romance, very fast. It’s got pack politics and a town full of fun supernaturals.
Overall, The Werewolf Meets His Match was an ok read. I enjoyed.
Rated: 3.5 Stars
**Audiobook review** I love that this series covers different couples but gives you a glimpse back at the previous ones too, that’s one of my favorite kind of series to read. Hank and Ivy’s story is steamy and sweet. There are so many moments to make you swoon, and some fantastic action sequences that make you wonder how the book is going to end. Plus you get a little glimpse at how things are going for Delaney and Hugh from book 1…and I hope a glimpse at some future couples. I am loving this series and have already started book 3!
Getting arrested wasn’t a part of werewolf Ivy Kincaid’s plans when she came to Nocturne Falls. At least she doesn’t have to spend money on a hotel while in lock up, but unfortunately the man she came to marry is the sheriff. Not the best first impression to make.
Another fun, entertaining, and easy to read book from Kristen Painter. Sheriff Hank Merrow is the first born son of the alpha. He knows that one day he might have to agree to an arranged marriage for the safety of the pack. What he doesn’t expect is for it to come from the Kincaid wolves, the Merrows enemies. Hank was a sweet man. He was an Army Ranger, now a sheriff, and is an all around good guy. I really liked him, especially with him being so accepting of Charlie.
Ivy Kincaid has had a rough life. Her father is a controlling and abusive alpha who is now forcing her into an arranged marriage. Ivy was an ok heroine. I felt that she should have owned up to everything from the beginning especially since she quickly realized how honorable Hank was. Overall, she was just ok. I do feel like she was a good mom though who was stuck in a rough situation.
Overall, this was a great addition to the series. It was another instalove storyline but still reasonable and fun. Hank and Ivy made a great addition to the town of Nocturne Falls and I can’t wait to get reacquainted with the next couple.
I loved the clash of personalities between the main characters. Fun and heartwarming.
In The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride (the first Nocturne Falls novel), Painter created a sweet and genuinely enjoyable romance that incidentally had a non-vampiric vampire as one of the destined lovers. I enjoyed the story, but I thought that the vampire aspects of the story were so weak as to be almost non-important. That’s not the case in The Werewolf Meets His Match in which pack politics, the moon, and the need to shift into another shape, form critical parts of the novel. What’s more, Painter does all of this without losing the sweet, light-hearted tone that made the first book so entertaining.
At the heart of this story is an arranged marriage which is technically supposed to bring peace between two werewolf packs, but which is actually a plan to insult the pack that resides in Nocturne Falls. The early action is highly predictable as heroine, Ivy, who is coerced into the marriage by her abusive father/pack leader learns that the hero, Hank, is actually a decent man who can be trusted. Most of the “action” comes in the form of problems from Ivy’s pack and her father, many resolving around her young son who is the “insult” intended for the Nocturne Fall’s pack.
There were a couple of small surprises in the end which I kicked myself for not predicting. That’s obviously all to the good. The novel also reintroduces characters from the first book and sets up individuals who will probably be the stars of their own romances in future stories.
Bought the book in 2016 and the audiobook 2021. They are both great, the characters are fabulous and the narrator does a great job. I am addicted to this series.
contemporary-romance, humor, mystery, print-copy, supernatural, suspense, urban-fantasy, shifters
I stumbled into this series, and found it fun yet thought provoking. While each book is easily a stand-alone, there are simple threads that tie them together. In this episode, it is the werewolf sheriff who meets and falls in love with his arranged bride. Could have been a boring formula novel, yet is anything but. The issues relating to trust, lousy childhood (hers), caring family (his), and personal growth are not limited to shifters. But don’t get me wrong, there is a ton of fun here, too!
BJ is a great audio performer and not only has the perfect accents, but makes each character clear and gives greater depth to each one.
I loved the story of these shifters. They have an arranged marriage to broker a peace treaty among 2 packs, but there is so much more to the story. I love Ivy. She is a true survivor who is willing to take a chance for a better life. Hank is just all-around awesome. He is one of the good guys with the intelligence and physical strength to back it up. I love that he sets out to woo his wife-to-be and it is very cute. There are some surprises and threats that have to be overcome to get to their HEA. It is exceptionally sweet when it happens- I couldn’t stop smiling. Bedroom scenes are closed door, but that does not hinder the chemistry between these two. Nocturne Falls continues to be an amazing little town with fun and intriguing characters. I wish this was in KU but I will keep buying them one at a time anyway. This is written in third person from a dual POV.
Out of all the Nocture Falls books, this one is my favorite. 🙂
This is the story of Willa the fey jewelery maker and Nick the gargoyle. Willa has got a costumer turned stalker. Nick finds out without Willa knowing and decides to help her. They have crazy chemistry between them, but the past come back to haunt them.
I loved this story that took us on a trip outside Nocturne Falls. I highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed.
Hank and Ivy were really cute. Theirs was a quick romance, but the chemistry was spot on. Ivy’s son Charlie was adorable and sweet, however, under Hank’s Aunt Birdie’s guidance..oh man, the trouble those two will find! I also liked how Painter built up Ivy’s secrets and horrid relatives, thereby giving the end result a nice gloss of utter poetic justice.
This was a fun paranormal read with a clean romance, humorous characters, and a plot that just kept giving until the end! The Nocturne Falls series is definitely becoming a favorite to enjoy.
