What an adventure!
Highly creative storytelling! Fun!
Lovely to have a Wendy story! So entertaining and exciting! A great female lead with a strong and inspiring character!
Great take on Peter Pan. Looking forward to next book
An interesting twist on Peter Pan, this book has Wendy as the main character and a strong one at that. I enjoyed it very much and am interested to see how the next book goes.
A very fresh take on Peter Pan and Hook from the eyes of “The Wendy” aka Wendy Darling. Funny, thoughtful and engaging.
What a wonderful new take on Peter Pan! I absolutely loved it! Can not wait for the next book. Wish it was coming out sooner!
A re-interpretation of the Peter Pan tale – even after finishing the book, it is still unclear whether Hook or Pan is the bad guy. Looking forward to seeing how the author sorts it out
I love this book, I want more!
I enjoyed how the authors tagged this tale back to the original Peter Pan while still layering on more character and a saucy originality. I also deeply believe in the major theme of this book, that empowered women are just as strong of heart, wise, determined, and emotionally powerful as our male counterparts, no matter what society seems to deliver to the contrary.
A radical reworking of Peter Pan for grown-ups. For those of you who are basing your opinion of Peter Pan on the Disney movie or the Broadway play, you may not realize that the book portrays him in a darker, more sinister, and more violent way. “The Wendy” builds skillfully on this portrayal. Wendy in the movie and the play is little more than a chump who never sees Peter for what he is. The Wendy is not so easily fooled.
Love, love, love! Fantastic concept, captivating characters and great story telling with gorgeous turns of phrase. Absolutely sharing this one.
There are several issues with this story. Difficult to cover without spoiling it. Some words take on new and unexpected meanings.
Not the story I was expecting by the blurb. It was a good story at times, when the overused words, or incorrect words didn’t pull me out of the story.
A great start to a new series. I love to read all age levels so this middle grade story did not disappoint! Read it!
A great spin on the Peter Pan tale. Fair warning- this is the first book in a series so there is a cliff-hanger. Overall I liked this book. I gave it the star rating because I was bummed about the cliffhanger (didn’t realize it was a series) and I didn’t realize it was a YA book. But I passed it on to my niece who LOVED it.
Disappointing
I kept thinking while trying to read this book that it could be a good book if I didn’t feel like it was written for beginning readers though it is obviously way to long for that. I stopped part way though because I could take the self abuse anymore. If you are somewhere past third grade you should give this book a pass.
I found it delightful! The only problems were a confusing thing about a ‘secret kiss’ that was never explained (it sounded like a facial feature; maybe a dimple or a beauty mark?), and a somewhat unsatisfying ending. But the next one is set to come out in 2019, so if you’re patient, I’d recommend it!
Peter Pan meets Wuthering Heights. Not a match made in either heaven or Neverland.
A very cute read.
