I absolutely am enchanted with this series! This time, Flavia is searching for who murdered, by electrocution, master puppeteer Rupert Porson, who is a genius when it comes to entertaining children but is pretty lousy in adult relationships. Then, there’s a five year old unsolved murder of a child who was Flavia’s age.
#2 in the series, Father, …
I do wish I had read these in order! However, I love the audios and must snag them as I can. Flavia, a tween with skills like Sherlock Holmes, is such fun! I love this series and I am binge-ing them during the quarantine. Just good clean fun!
Move over Sherlock, your competition has arrived. Eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce is one part Sherlock for her clever deductions, one part Artemis Fowl for her slightly bent childhood genius, one part Abby Scuitto for her mad chemistry skills, and one part Nancy Drew for her local investigative knowledge. Flavia is a 1950’s free-range child, born …
I really enjoyed this book: the quirky, bright young heroine, the setting in an English village in the 1950s and the gentle telling of the murder mystery. The story unfolds gradually and is peppered with delightful humour.
The second in a series, it reads perfectly well as a stand-alone novel. Charming, instructive and entertaining. I shall be …
Eleven year old Flavia de Luce is one of the most unique amateur sleuths ever created.
Love this series! Can’t wait to read the third book!
Love this entire series
Excellent series!!
Dogger and Flavia…. what a pair. Love, love, love
I love me some Alan Bradley. Flavia never disappoints.
I love this series.
Another whimsical and captivating entry in the Flavia de Luce series pits eleven year old amateur detective Flavia against a new puzzling murder and a long ago death of a young boy that may have a bearing on the famous puppeteer’s demise.
Flavia is not just precocious, but rather a child protege when it comes to chemistry, particularly poisons, …
I just LOVE Flavia!
This entire series is very engaging and charming—i love the substantive chemistry woven into the plots, and the protagonist is hilarious!
Love the characters. Funny but also sad as the three sisters are orphans. Flavia de Luce is a pre teen with a genius level mind who solves mysteries. I love all A. Bradley books.
Quite clever cozy mystery of an eleven year old precocious sleuth.
Unlike most of the books I read, but very enjoyable. Quirky characters.
Flavia is one of the most inspiring protagonists ever. She’s a brilliant and acerbic chemist, and a wonderfully talented and loving 12 year old young lady. I loved every moment of this book and couldn’t wait to get my hands on more.
This series is wonderful for adults and mature young readers as well. I have recommended it to some young bookworms who are fascinated by Flavia.
Flavia can’t miss. This is a delightful series. Too bad Flavia won’t always be 11!!!!
