An explosive start to a new series by New York Times Bestselling author J.R. Ward!
The Rehearsal Dinner is an introduction into the men and women of the 499. A wedding is in the works for Anne and Danny’s teammate, Moose, throwing Danny into close quarters with the woman he’s been fantasizing about for months.
Anne feels the heated glances from her partner, and admits to a mutual attraction. One they can’t act on while belonging to the same firehall.
When Moose goes missing on the night of his bachelor party, Danny and Anne go searching and end up in the middle of a high-octane knife fight between a pimp and the boyfriend of a prostitute, setting up possible conflict in future stories within this series.
J.R. Ward has a wonderful way of getting readers to fully invest in her characters, and The Wedding From Hell is no exception!
I give The Wedding From Hell 5+ lovely kisses- Can’t wait for part 2!
This is a prequel to JR Wards new series coming out consumed,it’s about Anne and Danny!! I love these two characters, theirs a great chemistry and camaraderie between them. Anne is a strong female lead and Danny is a sexy bad boy who is falling for Anne in a big way. Can’t wait for the continuing of this new series! So far so! Good!
The Rehearsal Dinner from the Wedding from Hell. Where the firemen are not and the list is hotter. Danny, Anne and Moose work at Station 499. Moose is getting married and the bride is straight off on of those Bridezilla shows.
Danny wants Anne and wants to tell her now. Anne’s wants Danny but wants to fight it. Moose needs to end this wedding before it happens, his bride to be is insane.
Love this short and can’t wait to dive in to part 2 and then the prequel to Consumed.
4.5 stars-THE WEDDING FROM HELL Part 1: The Rehearsal Dinner is the introductory novella in JR Ward’s contemporary, adult FIREFIGHTERS series focusing on the men and women who work and breathe at the 499 firehouse in New Brunswick, Massachusetts. This is fire fighters Anne Ashburn, and Danny Maguire’s story line.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Anne and Danny) THE WEDDING FROM HELL, Part 1: The Rehearsal Dinner reveals the friendships and camaraderie between the member of the 499, as well as the building sexual tension between fire fighters Anne Ashburn, and Danny Maguire. With the impending wedding of fellow fighter Robert ‘Moose’ Miller to his bridezilla Deandra Cox, the members of the 499 embark on a night of fun that spirals out of control when a very inebriated groom disappears, and Anne and Danny find themselves involved in a knife fight between a pimp, a prostitute and the man that she loves. As the palpable sexual tension continues to grow between Anne and Danny, Danny’s past pushes at something more.
THE WEDDING FROM HELL, Part 1: The Rehearsal Dinner is a very quick read; a short, revealing and intriguing novella that introduces the men and women of the 499. A strong start to what promises to be another fantastic series by the amazing JR Ward.
As soon as I first saw an ad for Consumed, I knew I had to read it. I may not have read Ward’s fantasy and vampire books, but I did read her Bourbon Kings series, and I loved it. Then when I saw she was doing this three part prequel, I jumped on it. I pre ordered all three.
This is a quick read. A glimpse into what is to come in the future. I really enjoyed getting a first glimpse of what could either be a budding relationship or a cataclysm of a relationship to come.
I am itching to get the next part in this prequel series. Where will it take me from the ending of this one? I am fully committed this prequel and this series as a whole!
J.R. Ward is one of the best authors out there. Here books do not disappoint!
Excellent little beginning to what looks to be an exciting new series. I’m reading this after I read Consumed, but still enjoyed every word!
This is prequel number one and we are with Danny and Anne. This is the beginning of their attraction towards each other. These two, along with all the other firefighters, are amazing characters. I just can’t figure out why Moose is with Deandra.
Tension is high.
Lust is swirling around.
And the wedding from Hell is a countdown.
Even in just a quick hit, J.R. Ward manages to snare your attention, capture your interest, and already have you wrapped up in her characters’ futures.
The Reception ( The Wedding from Hell #2) by J.R. Ward is the second novella and prequel to Consumed. If you have not read part one you really should, so you can enjoy the full effect of this story and Ms. Ward’s spectacular writing. This novella takes up right where part one left off, Moose and Deandra’s wedding and reception. In keeping with JR’s writing, this book will have you loving the characters and of strongly disliking a few. She continues to keep us on the edge of our seats wondering what the future holds for not only Danny and Anne, but also for Moose and Deandra. And of course JR slams us with another off the chart steamer of a scene that will have you fanning yourself and maybe looking for your very own firefighter. Enjoy, Happy Reading!
A nice introduction to these characters, and I look forward to reading more.
As soon as I heard that Ms Ward was writing a firefighter’s series, I was onto it like a fly on poo.
I am really looking forward to Consumed, and I really liked this first novella leading up to that book.
I love the spark <=== see what I did there - between Anne and Danny, and need to know where things are leading. Right on to #2 for me!
I jumped right into this and quite enjoyed it. Great firefighter world-building, lots of engaging characters and romantic tension you could cut with a knife. Thoroughly enjoyed it – although now anxiously awaiting the full length that this was a teaser for!
Anne and Danny are firefighters and are getting ready for their friend’s wedding. They are attracted to each other but Anne’s not sure about getting involved with a co-worker. They are at the rehearsal dinner and Danny decides to lay it all out on the line.
Short story. Funny and part one of a two part series before the book Consumed, which is awesome.
I read this on the plane and I love, love, loved it! Reminds of everything I love about the BDB, only with Firefighters. 😀
The Rehearsal Dinner is part one in a series of three prequels to the brand new book Consumed, by J.R. Ward.
This is our first introduction to Anne Ashburn. She has been a firefighter for two years now at Stationhouse 499 in New Brunswick. And to Danny Maguire who is also a firefighter in the same stationhouse.
One of Anne and Danny’s fellow firefighter brothers and also Danny’s best friend and roommate, is getting married. It’s four days before the wedding and all of the pre-wedding chaos has begun.
“From the moment she’d walked into the open bay of the 499 two years ago, she had gotten his attention. Even as a newbie fresh out of the academy, she had had a confidence and competence that had been intimidating.”
Danny might have a reputation for being a ladies man. But that all changed when he met Anne. He’s kept his feelings hidden up until now but what he feels for her is getting hard to keep contained. He can feel that she is drawn to him as well but she won’t give in to it.
Anne knows of Danny’s reputation but she is determined not to be his next one and done. Only, this chemistry that is sizzling between them is getting harder to ignore.
They are thrown together during all of the wedding festivities and the pull between them does nothing but get stronger. Only she has to work with this man, face him every day. Can she give in to this attraction and then face him at work like nothing is changed? Her head says stay away but her body and her heart are saying something else.
I loved this introduction to these two. They already have me pulled in to them as a couple. I have a feeling I am going to love this series and can’t wait for the second prequel, The Reception, to see what happens next.
“He wanted to be more for her. He wanted to be everything for Anne.’
