When Ava McKenna left the neighborhood she grew up in, she never planned to look back. And for ten years she didn’t. Not until Mateo Ortega, the handsome and charming boy next door, showed up to ask for her help. Mateo needed a favor, actually he needed a pretend fiancée, and he thought Ava would be the perfect woman for the charade. Ava knew that she owed the Ortega family a favor but when she … she looked into Mateo’s gorgeous brown eyes she realized that repaying an old debt might jeopardize her heart.

03/08/2021 Caroline Mickelson came up with a new twist on ‘marriage of convenience’ in “The Wedding Favor” (nook). The lives of Mateo and Ava had been entwined years earlier. Even though they had lost touch, it was easy to understand why he chose her for a wife. His favor is unexpected and unique. This cute story ends with a satisfying HEA.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I also purchased a copy.
This was an enjoyable story to get away from everything at the moment. I enjoyed reading how childhood friends Mateo Ortega and Ava McKenna reunited after she left the area when her mother passed away. Now Mateo’s abuelo (Joaquin) is dying of cancer and he needs a favor. Joaquin would love to see Mateo happily married. The problem, he isn’t seeing anyone. The only woman who comes to mind is Ava. He approaches her with asking for a favor, can he tell his abuelo, that he is engaged to be married.
Ava is stunned! She hasn’t seen Mateo in years. The Ortega family as a whole had helped Ava and her mother many, many times of the years before Ava’s mother passed away. She feels like she owes them this. One condition that she asked for though, to get married for real! Mateo is stunned. Ava mentioned that she doesn’t want to lie and she knows Mateo would hate to lie to his family.
Again this is charming. I enjoyed the dual POV format that the story is written in. The story flowed very nicely and kept me interested throughout. There was no long drawn out angst in this story and it wasn’t a complicated plot.
This is a clean romance. The author did a fade out on the sexy scene after the removal of clothes. There was no bodily details given so I really don’t think it should offend young readers BUT that is up to the parents to decide.
This was the first book I have read by this author. It was a good book and I enjoyed reading it. The storyline was great and the book was easy to read. I loved the characters.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A sweet love story full of doubts and misunderstandings. A nice easy read with engaging characters and happily ever after. Sex implied but no foul language. Worth adding to your reading list.
Loved the storyline and characters
What a romantic story. He’s so charming, and loving. The perfect book boyfriend. I loved every page of this book.
I like that it has them get all tangled up and the love they have made them to go for marryfor all tiime
A quick read and a warm story of family, love, loss, and a happy ever after.
The characters in this book were loving and kept you hoping that they would find their happy ending.
A sweet story – good read.
good read
This is a very sweet romance full of love and care for family. I struggled with her forever walking away from the Ortega’s I don’t feel like she has been cured of her compulsion to run. The romancing is very nice and I didn’t have to skip any overly detailed sex description pages.
Fun, easy, a good read.
Loved the story! Can’t wait to read more of this series!
Boy next door love story.
Very sweet.
This was a quick read, almost like reading a short story. Unfortunately, I found the basic premise a little hard to swallow and it just kept going and getting more uncomfortable.
This was sweet romance. Mateo promised too introduce his fiancee to his grandfather before he died. He asked her to help. She agreed. The love followed.
Would read again
An enjoyable storyline of the characters Ava and Mateo having grown up together finding each once again 10 years later and coming together to please a dying grandfather not knowing that they would eventually find love that would be for all the right reasons.
A quick relaxing read with wonderful characters! An enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.
