I can’t believe I have to go home to Nebraska for my sister’s wedding. I’m gonna need a wingman and a whole lot of vodka for this level of family interaction. At least my bestie agreed he’d man up and help. Too bad he had to catch a different flight than me. Then his plane got delayed. And finally–because bad things always happen in threes–instead of my best friend, his evil twin strolls out of … of the airport.
If you looked up doesn’t-deserve-to-be-that-confident, way-too-hot-for-his-own-good billionaire in the dictionary, you’d find a picture of Will Holt. He’s awful. Horrible. The worst–even if his butt looks phenomenal in those jeans.
Ten times worse? My buffer was supposed to be there to keep me away from the million and one family events. But Satan’s spawn just grins and signs us up for every. Single. Thing.
Fine. “Cutthroat” Scrabble? I’m in. I can’t wait to take this guy down a notch.
But somewhere between Pictionary and the teasing glint in his eyes, our bickering starts to feel like more than just a game…

Will Holt is a take charge kind of guy. CEO of his family’s billion dollar company, sexy, and single by choice. He does not trust women – all women, including his grandmother who had a hand in raising him after both his parents died and his twin brother’s best friend, Hadley. He’s convinced she’s a gold digger, out to get his brother’s money and treats her accordingly.
Hadley Donavan is holding on by a thread. She’s a country girl with big city dreams and will do and suffer anything to make something of herself. Finding her place in Harbor City is not easy and she finds herself hiding behind a happy facade in order to not show how hard life really is. Web Holt is a dear friend and helps make her dreary existence better. Unfortunately, Will, his twin brother, makes her life more difficult.
The sparks fly whenever Will and Hadley interact and try as he might, to deny his true feelings, Will is screwed. But denial and an unhealthy dose of stupidity has him firmly believing the worst in Hadley, even though his attraction to her is a living, breathing thing. For her part Hadley wants nothing to do with the “evil Holt brother” and so what if he makes her knees weak and her heart race. It.Means.Nothing.
In what has got to be my favorite enemies to lovers scenario, Will and Hadley, fall slowly, maddeningly, sexily in love and although the journey to their happily ever after is nerve wracking, it is very, very sweet. TBR and Enjoy!
Oh and Avery, please tell me sexy Web gets his book next?!
This is the first novel I’ve read by Avery Flynn and I loved it. The characters were great! There was a great blend of funny & steamy & touching. I’m looking forward to reading her other novels now that I have been introduced to this author.
Such a great book!
Surprise trope is it enemies to lovers, sibling jealousy, or gold digger reformed.
Will and Hadley are sparking off each other the whole book!
Can’t wait to see what is next!
Hadley Donavan’s life isn’t the rosy world she’s been describing to her family, it’s more cramped apartment, low level job, and singlehood. Not willing to give up the charade she has her best friend along for the ride, masked as her boyfriend for the big family wedding back home. Only problem? His evil twin who is convinced she’s money hungry showed up and seems set on making her suffer. Despite how he drives her crazy, something about him keeps tugging at her.
Time flew by as I enjoyed Avery Flynn’s latest romantic comedy. The Wedding Date Disaster is silly and heartwarming, it was a perfect light read for me that made me forget it all for a little while. Hadley and Will are really the perfect match, their bickering even was a form of flirting. I laughed so much, their antics to get back at one another truly revealed their feelings. I also loved that we got an honest portrayal of family, careers, and how much effort it takes to win someone over that you care for.
The Wedding Date Disaster was an instant win for me, it’s another successful laughter inducing read from the queen of romcom.
The Wedding Date Disaster is such a fun read. There is so much tension between Hadley and Will. There is that fine line between love and hate that Hadley and Will that just sets everything off. Will has trust issues when it comes to his family and you get why when you get to know him more. Hadley is sweet and just trying to make it in the city and show her family she doesn’t belong on the ranch. I love PawPaw so much. Hadley’s family is a little nuts and will have you giggling over everything. I love the connection Will and Hadley form while on the ranch. I couldn’t get enough of this one. You really have to read this one and experience Hadley and Will for yourself.
This was a fun read with an enemies to lover trope that really held fast to the enemies part throughout the majority of the story. Along with that was the “she’s a gold digger” plot and I couldn’t have been happier about it. Together, these elements made this crazy enjoyable.
This was a romance with lots of light hearted fun and in which the characters are obviously developed to fit. Hadley wasn’t a hard as nails heroine, instead she’s struggling to find what she needs to start her business all while barely holding on to the life that she’s living. Will was not the hard core alpha type of hero that I love, but I did enjoy him and the rather unique voice this author gave him.
They were a lot of fun to watch as they bickered and interacted in private as well as in front of her family. Once this couple takes things to the next level, the chemistry sizzles across the page. They’ll definitely set your kindle on fire. The angst is pretty low with an uptick towards the end and while it was a rather obvious path to travel, I still enjoyed the direction this book and these characters took.
Overall, this was a really good read for the afternoon and I found it refreshing for its combined tropes.
The Wedding Date Disaster is a phenomenal contemporary romance by Avery Flynn. Ms. Flynn once again provides readers with a well-written, fun to read story loaded with characters you can’t help but love. Hadley needed a fake boyfriend to take to her sister’s wedding. Her best friend agreed to be her plus one. Will is the evil twin to her best friend and shows up in his place because her friend was too sick to go. Hadley and Will’s tale is packed with drama, humor and sizzle. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to my next book by Avery Flynn. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh boy the snark and sass is strong in this one!! Im not kidding. The witty banter between the characters made this an entertaining enemies/haters to lovers story.
Hadley has to return home for her sisters wedding and expecting her best friend to be her plus one, however who ends up going is Web’s twin Will. Can they pull off a fake date with her family or is it destined to fail?
Sometimes what we show our families isn’t always the truth and perhaps Hadley has been trying to protect her family from seeing/knowing what her life is really like now.
With having to room with Will in a cabin for a week, needless to say the angry conversations, steamy tension and family meddlesome moments made this one great story. I laughed, commiserated and felt for what they all go through. Will’s trust issues are crazy but I thought the way things ended was fantastic! I loved the family games most and especially Hadley’s grandpa, he was gold!
Hadley Donavan is not looking forward to making a trip home to face her family for her sister’s wedding, especially since she has been lying to them for some time now. She has them thinking she is living it big in the city when in reality she is living in a cramped basic apartment, has a low entry job and her dating life is pretty much nonexistent. But instead of just bucking up and telling them the truth she decides to have her best friend tag along and help her sell her story.
But the man who shows up at the airport is definitely not her best friend, he is the evil version of him, his twin brother Will Holt. Suddenly her trip home takes on a whole new meaning of a disaster!
The Wedding Disaster is a enchanting little page-turner that will have you smiling throughout, this pairing is literary dynamite! They battle at every turn, test each other’s patience and will, and try their best to play nice to keep her little story intact. All the while trying to deny whatever is blooming between them, they cannot fall for one another, they despise one another… or do they? These two put on quite the show, they had me giggling out loud more than a few times, and of course swooning a bit here and there too. If you like romantic comedies then I have no doubt this one will be right up your alley, these two will pull you in from the very first page, and have you dying to know everything about them! And what you find is bound to keep you thoroughly entertained and leave your heart swimming in feels! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, via NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
ARC received from publisher via Netgalley for an honest review
I love a good enemies-to-lovers tale, and throw in twin shenanigans and I will be hooked.
There is so much snark between Hadley and Will – her best friend’s twin. Misconceptions abound from Will, and as much as these frustrated me, I loved Hadley’s clap backs at him. They say fighting is foreplay, and this pair burn up the pages with sexual tension. They drive each other – and this reader- crazy, but you just know they are going to burn up the sheets if they ever get their act together.
I feel for Hadley that she has to lie to her family, however loved how these things eventually made her family bonds stronger.
I laughed out loud at times, I wanted to throw my reader at Will’s face, I just needed this pair to sort themselves out.
Oh, and I will say I want – no, I need Web’s story. I feel some revenge coming his way!
The Wedding Date Disaster is a fast-paced, charming, deliciously sweet explosion of all of your favorite romances wrapped up in one. Enemies-to-lovers. Check. Weddings. Check. Single bed, best friend’s brother, opposite’s attract, cowboy-ish. And a twin-tervention! All the checks. All the feels. Plus the heat.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Avery Flynn and the publisher.
What a hilarious, enemies-to-lovers romance! Just kick back and enjoy this laugh out loud read from Avery Flynn. It was a mostly light-hearted slow burn romance, full of accusations, deceit, and the “social media curtain” of trying to make people think your life is happening as you viewed it would…and not as it really is. I highly recommend reading this fake relationship romance with the blend of family and work.
From the beginning chapter to the very last page of the epilogue, the twin situation with Web (Hadley’s BFF!) and Will (evil twin) Holt, had me cracking up and wanting to punch Will in the face! Trying to resist the almost identical handsome twin at the same time as hating him was difficult…
“Hadley Donavan was about to find out firsthand just how good the bad Holt twin could be.”
I loved the mention of characters from other series written by Avery, and I loved the brutal humor thrown in…
“But lucky her, she only had an hour and a half left of the three-hour drive with a guy who…was starting to turn green and had a white-knuckle grip on the can of ginger ale he’d grabbed from her mom’s fridge. Good. He was her nemesis and he could stand to be as miserable as he’d made her after the incident.”
I have been a long-time fan of rom-com author Avery Flynn! She writes fantastic storylines, great characters, and a perfect blend of heat and romance. I loved The Wedding Date Disaster! 4.75 stars, but rounding up to 5!
This was a sweet read with the enemies to lovers theme that was a light hearted read. Hadley needed a date to her sister’s wedding and Will stepped in to take his brother’s place as the date while convinced that Hadley was after his brother’s money instead of the friendship that she repeatedly proclaimed. Add in a lot of family togetherness in this read and some great characters and you get one funny yet enjoyable read.
Overall, this was a good read that I did enjoy. At times it was LOL funny but at other times I found myself rolling my eyes at Will and Hadley for not being able to let go of their issues with each other as after a while it was getting repetitive. I enjoyed the banter between the characters and the tension between them was palpable at time.
This was a good book to read and I enjoyed it from start to finish. I would recommend this book to others.
If you want a laugh with your read, you can’t go wrong with an Avery Flynn book.
I’ve read most of her work, and it always leaves me with a smile.
Written in the third persons point of view. We watch as Haley and Will do battle to see who comes out on top over a family member?
Haley Loves her best friend, but does she have to put up E.T (evil twin) or Mr Obnoxious all the time? He might be a billionaire, he might be the most eligible bachelor, but to Haley, he’s always be annoying.
Will thinks that Haley is a gold digger, his twin might be her “best friend” but he knows better, he’s seen her type before, and he’s determined to get rid of her.
When an opportunity presents itself. Will is quick to capitalise on it.
But what he gets is turned on his head, Haley is fun, kind and gentle. Did he really get it so wrong? And now Will wants her for himself, can he really do that to his brother?
It’s a laugh a minute, anything and everything that can go wrong does go wrong? Haley’s family is extremely close, and she finds that claustrophobic, she loves them dearly, just not 24/7! Thank goodness her best friend is coming to this wedding to pose as her boyfriend, but fates not that kind, it sends her nemesis in his place! And that’s when the trouble starts.
Will doesn’t think his twin and Haley’s friendship is just that, he thinks she’s after his money, so he’s going to expose her.
But spending time with her exposes her not as a fraud, but a kind and caring person. I did have to chuckle, boy did he have a lot of making up to do……
Loved Haley’s family, they were crazy in a good way. Ready to pitch in and help, but they could drive you nuts within minutes!
Games night? Was hilarious. Her grandfather was so funny. And when an old boyfriend of Haley’s turns up, is it relief that his brother won’t be fleeced by her or jealousy that it’s not him holding her hand?
So can Will see past his ex taking him for a ride? Can he get past his jealousy of his brother? Well technically Web and not Will have Haley in his life.
And when he finds out she really isn’t a gold digger can he apologise and get Haley to forgive him?
I’ve come to love reading anything by this author.
I couldn’t put it down till it was done. Highly recommend this book and this author.
I requested and received an advanced copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I have read other books by Avery Flynn and have loved them, so when I saw an opportunity to request an ARC of this book, I jumped on it!!! I have eagerly been waiting for this book to be released since I seem to hear or read about it every where!
This was an awesome story about Hadley and her best “guy” friend Web. Of course, Web has an “evil twin” Will. So much chaos ensues when Hadley goes home for her sister’s wedding. This was not type romance story – I loved the twists and turns that the story took – I definitely hooked me and reeled me it!
The Wedding Date Disaster is my first read from this author and what a fun story it was! I really enjoyed the antics, humor and dynamics of this story.
Hadley is having a moment, or two. In the opening scene we learn hard and fast that she has an issue with her best friends brother, “The Evil Twin,” Will. The story starts with a bang of humor and doesn’t let up. The dynamics between Will and Hadley kept me interested and turning the pages. I liked the way the author brought these two together with the help of other characters and situations.
This story read like a enemies to lovers, a not quite bully, with an awesome rom-com story. The way these two love/hated each other really was the best part of the story. It is a heartwarming, sweet and silly story that really was a great escape for the day and what I could consider the perfect beach read. I look forward to more stories from this author.
There were a few moments that were a bit over the top or didn’t quite add to the story but overall I really enjoyed getting to know these characters. I do think they are perfect for each other in the end; and the characters were a bit repetitive at times with their thoughts. I do recommend this story to rom-com readers and those who enjoy lighter funny stories. I received an ARC via NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, LLC and the author and I am leaving an honest review. 3.85 stars.
*I received a free copy of The Wedding Date Disaster. This has in no way influenced my voluntary review which is honest and unbiased.*
The Wedding Date Disaster has Ms. Flynn’s trademark humor and hotness galore! Will and Hadley thought they hated each other – and they also thought they had a great reason for this hate. Will thought Hadley was after his brother, Webster, for his money, not because they were friends. And Hadley thought of Will as the evil twin…
This continued until Web tricked Will into being Hadley’s fake date for a one week wedding party. And my goodness, the heat, the chemistry, the longing *swoons*… On the ranch, they were bantering even as they fell in love with each other, and I loved to see it.
“Just because I don’t fall for your country-bumpkin, sweet-as-pie con job like everyone else?” This is how Evil Twin, aka Will Holt, addresses Hadley. She has no idea what she ever did to piss him off. His brother, Web, happens to be one of her best friends. She just can not get along with Will for anything.
Will sees Hadley’s friendship with his brother Web as nothing more than a way for her to get to the Holt fortune. He definitely finds her attractive, yet all he can do is be mean to her.
In a craptastic trick by Web, Will ends ups filling in for Web as Hadley’s plus one at her sister’s wedding. Will has never been with such a big family or out in the wide open country. Seeing Hadley with her family, getting to know this version of her. In her hometown, with the people who love her.
Will realizes his assumptions may be wrong. Even as he begins to connect with Hadley, he still finds ways to screw it up!
I love this story! I honestly enjoyed the characters so much. There was just something delightfully different with these characters that made me enjoy the Harbor City world even more than usual!
It’s been a minute since I’ve read Avery Flynn, and I was excited by the opportunity to read The Wedding Date Disaster.
I don’t know how I’d forgotten how amusing Avery Flynn can be, but this book quickly reminded me. The thoughts and inner dialogue of Hadley and Will made me smile smile and chuckle as well as their snappy banter and one-liners. I definitely enjoyed the enemies to lovers aspect of their relationship.
One thing I wish had been a little different was the conflict between Will and Hadley. He was a little too adamant about a certain aspect of Hadley’s character, and it went on a bit too long for my taste.
Other than that, the family dynamics were entertaining as were the shenanigans at the ranch. I’m also hoping that Web will be getting his own story soon.
***I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy generously provided by the publisher via NetGalley.***
I was hooked from the first page and the talk of the evil twin. Let the high jinks begin as Hadley and Will face off in this epic romance adventure where hilarity ensues with pranks, the best made-up family games I have ever read about and an enemies to lovers swoon worthy romance that goes anything but smoothly. Between Aunt Louise & PawPaw they will have you cheering them on as they amp up the heat level up between Hadley and Will. The steamy scenes are sizzling when Hadley and Will finally come together. Do you get a HEA? You bet your cowboy boots you do but you have a helluva ride getting there and I for one was glued to the saddle for the whole ride. This was my first book by Avery Flynn and I can’t wait to read what else she has written as I have not smiled this much while reading a book in ages.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
