I can’t believe I have to go home to Nebraska for my sister’s wedding. I’m gonna need a wingman and a whole lot of vodka for this level of family interaction. At least my bestie agreed he’d man up and help. Too bad he had to catch a different flight than me. Then his plane got delayed. And finally–because bad things always happen in threes–instead of my best friend, his evil twin strolls out of … of the airport.
If you looked up doesn’t-deserve-to-be-that-confident, way-too-hot-for-his-own-good billionaire in the dictionary, you’d find a picture of Will Holt. He’s awful. Horrible. The worst–even if his butt looks phenomenal in those jeans.
Ten times worse? My buffer was supposed to be there to keep me away from the million and one family events. But Satan’s spawn just grins and signs us up for every. Single. Thing.
Fine. “Cutthroat” Scrabble? I’m in. I can’t wait to take this guy down a notch.
But somewhere between Pictionary and the teasing glint in his eyes, our bickering starts to feel like more than just a game…

4 Stars This is the first book by Avery Flynn that I have read. Hadley hated Will from the first time they met and the feeling was mutual. Unfortunately, Will’s brother, Web, was her best friend. This is the epitome of an enemies to lovers story as Hadley and Will try to fight their attraction and keeping up with their dislike for one another. I enjoyed Hadley’s family dynamics in addition watching Hadley and Will find their way together.
The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn was EVERYTHING I needed it to be and more! I laughed, I sighed, I tried to reach into the story to smack characters upside the head when they weren’t listening to me; it was a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging reading experience!
Hadley is feisty, charming, hilarious, and absolutely someone I’d love to be friends with!
And then we have Will. Charming evil twin Will that I can’t help but love from first meeting!
And we are thrown right into the middle of things. Meet cute? More like meet explosion! And that palpable chemistry continues to sizzle throughout the rest of the story, really adding to their stubbornness, their animosity, but most importantly, their connection.
Miscommunications, family antics, and car trips galore, Hadley and Will had me hooked!
Avery is a QUEEN of the romantic comedy, and this novel was just another example of her expertise! The ache in my side from laughing and snorting are definitely exhibits A and B I’d like to submit into evidence! So, if you’re looking for something that will make you chuckle, will make you smile, and be a perfect and wonderful escape from reality, look no further and dive into this lovely story now!
P. S. Loved seeing the Hartigan name pop up!
P. P. S. I do sincerely hope we’ll be getting Web’s story!
When Hadley Donovan moved away from nowhere Nebraska, she knew she wanted to fulfill her dream to have her own consulting business. Now that she’s in the big city, things aren’t working out for her. She’s trying as hard as she can at her job, but it isn’t working out as she planned. Then she gets fired and her dreams are shattered. The biggest problem is her sister is getting married back home, and her bestie, Web is going to be her wingman from the craziness that is her family. Hadley has also been lying a little to them, telling them how wonderful her life is.
Arriving in Nebraska earlier than Web is not a big deal she just has to wait a few hours for his flight. However, when the plane lands, it’s not Web that she sees, but his evil twin brother Will. How can she tell from a distance, Web has a small mole on his face, also Will and her hate each other. Apparently Web is sick and sent Will in his place. How are they going to fool anyone if all they ever do is argue.
Will is convinced that Hadley is out for Web’s inheritance so she can start her business, this is why he insisted on coming in his place. He will do anything in his power to make sure to ruin all her plans in Nebraska. They make a truce for the sake of her sister and start the five hour drive to her home. Problem is Will gets carsick, and Web knew this, so obviously he’s going to kill him when he returns home!
Hadley knew this week with her family was going to be testing. What she wasn’t planning was Will volunteering for every game and activity her family planned. She’s really going to kill him when they fly back home. Then something miraculous happens, they start having fun and actually getting along. Now all Hadley can think of is getting back to their cabin and stripping him! Who knew that they had chemistry.
Is this all pretend, or is Will really falling for her?
This was such a funny and enjoyable book to read!
I received a copy of this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Will Holt has to help his brother out, against his will. And the person who benefits? Hadley Donavan. Will and Hadley are not on good terms. Mainly because he thinks she’s someone she’s not. Hadley just knows they aren’t a good match. Web sets them up in a spectacular way and they have no way to not get to know each other. Who doesn’t love a good enemies to lovers story?! This one was fun, sassy, sweet and oh so delicious! I couldn’t put this book down. I adored watching their relationship evolve, it was unexpected but combustible. The chemistry between them was palpable through the pages and I loved the characters that were Hadley’s family. They may have been quirky but they loved each other and supported each other. It was unfortunate for Hadley they like to meddle, too. If you’re looking for a book to boost your mood, this one is it! Don’t let it pass you by.
This was a really fun story to read. It reminded me why I love contemporary romantic comedy as much as I do. The main female character, Hadley, was an incredibly relatable character for most modern women. She never quite felt like she fit in anywhere, always considered herself a little over weight and never felt desired by any man. At best, she worried that men would use her just to make fun of her. Following her dreams of being a city girl, she left her ranch home in Nebraska to work in the big city of Harbor City. This is where she met the identical twins Web and Will who are filthy rich men running a family empire in the city.
Web is Hadley’s best friend and the evil twin brother, Will, can only see that Hadley must be after his brother for the family money. Seeing as how that’s the only experiences with women he’s had, he projects this onto Hadley and Web’s friendship. But Hadley just enjoys his company and now she’s stuck with the evil twin at a family get-together celebrating her sister’s soon-to-be wedding. Nothing is how it should have turned out and throughout this week long family excursion of pretending to be dating for her family’s sake, something else starts to manifest between them. But they can’t give into it because they’re sworn enemies. Or are they?
A delightful cast of characters, especially Hadley’s quirky country family, had me enjoying every page of family interaction. We all have these kinds of moments in our lives where our family can seem like so much to deal with, but Hadley reminds us that even the craziest of families is only crazy because they all love each other so much.
This was a great read that has me looking into everything else Avery Flynn has written, since this is my first novel of hers. An inspiring writer that brings together an opposites attracts feel and utilizes characters and traits that we all try and ignore about ourselves. This was an easy 5-star rating for me based on my enjoyability of the story and my love for Hadley and Will as a couple that inspires me.
Enemies to lovers is my favorite and Avery Flynn did it right! Hadley and Will were fantastic and this rom com had me laughing out loud and enjoying a great book! I love the bickering, the hilarious moments and the overall relationship between Hadley and Will. Throw in some fantastic secondary characters and this book was a delight to read!
Will and a Web Holt are the identical twin heirs to the substantial Holt empire. Hadley Donovan is working as a charity fundraiser and is best friends with
Web. Will is convinced that Hadley is a gold-digging hussy after his brother’s fortune. Web has promised to go with Hadley as her fake boyfriend to her sister’s wedding. When he gets food poisoning from Will’s cooking, Will is forced to go in his place. This is a great enemies to lovers romance. While Will and Hadley are constantly bickering, the underlying sexual tension is always just below the surface. I loved all the characters in this book and I hope that this is a start to a new series. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
This is such a sweet enemies to fake relationship to love story, with two troubled individuals with painful pasts.
Hadley left the family ranch in Nebraska to move to the big city. Meeting Web Holt was getting a best friend, she also gained an enemy in Web’s twin brother Will who thought she was just a gold digger after the Holt millions. When Web is suddenly too sick to accompany Hadley to the family ranch for her sister’s wedding, he talks Will into impersonating him. After all, they are identical twins and have played that game in the past.
I loved the way this couple despised each other while also being physically attracted. And since Will’s never willing to admit he can’t do something, he meets each challenge the family throws his way at the ranch. Snip hunting? Sure. Cutthroat Scrabble? Game on. Pretending to be Hadley’s boyfriend, well, working on it. And meeting Hadley’s warm, loving, multi-generational family and life on the ranch? Eye-opening. Will and Web were raised by their cold and distant grandmother who shipped them off to boarding school when they were only eight years old. Her family lived in a totally different world from what he knew.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for this advanced copy of The Wedding Date Disaster. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh my Avery Flynn does it again!! I am such a huge fan! I love her quirky not always typical heroines. This is an Enemies-to-Lovers romance, Forced proximity, and Best friend’s TWIN brother Troped Romance.
Hadley Donavan -Left behind her Midwest small town upbringing for the promise of adventure and success in the Big City. She has a passion for helping other via nonprofit fundraising. She is headed back to that Nebraska Ranch for her little sister’s wedding and has talked her best friend Web Holt in to being her fake boyfriend to distract her family from what her life in Harbor City is really like.
Will Holt- Totally Grump, Pessimist. Has it out for his twin brother’s best friend because he believes she is a gold digger. Will twin Web with the help of some fake food poisoning has tricked him to accompanying Hadley to her sister’s wedding.
Will’s life hasn’t been easy and he allows his upbringing and a past relationship to dictate how he sees people in the world. He is the extreme example of how many of us react to past hurt. He can not seem to let it go and just see the person what they truly are. Some of this is on Hadley. She isn’t honest with those she loves about how bad she is failing at life in Harbor City. All of that seems to play in to Will’s treatment of her.
I loved the craziness of Hadley’s family. They are big and loud and love fiercely. The supporting characters in this story add so much depth to it. It really makes the story.
It was nice to see a small glimpse of a Fiona Hartigan. I am hoping this means we might be getting her story soon. (Hint Hint Ms. Flynn)
This was a 5/5 Read for me. Once I started this I could not put it down. I had moments of giggles and moments of gasp. Seriously her PawPaw pulls out Handcuffs at the dinner table! I love the stories Ms Flynn writes. I wish she would write my grocery list, maybe I would like that then. This is a well-done story of learning to let go of past perceptions and seeing the shimmering jewel in front of you. The only price tag on love is what you are willing to give of yourself, not money.
The Wedding Date Disaster is a refreshing and fun take on the enemies to lovers / fake relationship troupe. This is my first book by this author and it certainly won’t be my last!
The Wedding Date Disaster follow the story of Hadley and Will. Will thinks he knows what kind of girl his brother’s best friend, but he couldn’t be further from the truth. His assumptions are way off base, but try telling an alpha type that he’s wrong! He won’t believe you. Will tries to get his brother Web to see the light, but Web isn’t having and neither is fate. You see, Web is supposed to accompany Hadley to her sister’s wedding back home in Nebraska. Only, Web ends up really sick, so Will takes his place. Now, Hadley and Will are stuck pretending they are a couple and trying desperately to not kill each other. But you know what they say, those who fight the most have the greatest passion. The passion and tension between Hadley and Will is off the charts. Will these two give in to their unexpected feelings or will Will’s assumptions come back to bite him? There’s only one way to find out….
Overall, I thought this book was a really fun read. I found the author’s take on this troupe to be fun and refreshing. Enemies to Lovers and Fake Relationships are my jam! And I couldn’t get enough of this one. I mean, Will and Hadley had tension in spades. Their chemistry burning off the pages. I will be the first to admit that Will drove me a little crazy with his hangups on Hadley, and I for one could not wait for him to get his head out of his butt. His heart was in the right place and had been burned in the past. Hadley was easy to relate to. She loves her family even though they make her crazy. I loved seeing Hadley come into her true self and not be afraid to be the person she was always meant to be.
The Wedding Date Disaster is the kind of book that you can easily read in a single sitting. The characters and supporting cast are fun and entertaining. This book more than delivered in the enemies to lovers storyline. I loved the drama and pull. I loved the angst and family moments. In the end, this book hit all the marks I was looking for and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Hadley and Will’s story come full circle.
A fun, flirty, and sexy story that I couldn’t get enough of. The tension between Hadley and Will was palpable but so was their chemistry. Even when they were bickering, I could sense they were about to snap any minute. I loved it! I loved the family dynamics and the shenanigans Will signed them up for and through it all, they actually got to know each other better. One fun, amazing read.
I love a good enemies-to-lovers story and this was a great one! I had so much fun reading The Wedding Date Disaster! It was really entertaining with great characters mixed with a lot of sweet and heat!
The Wedding Date Disaster by Avery Flynn was one of the funniest enemies-to-lovers mixed with fake relationship ever! Hadley is living a lie. Her life isn’t quite as amazing as she’s made it out to her family… her apartment is small and cramped, her job isn’t as important as she’s made it out, and, worst of all… she’s single. Returning home for a wedding, Hadley decides her bestie, Will, will be her date and pretend boyfriend for the time being… unfortunately, he doesn’t show. Standing in for Web, is Will, his evil twin… according to Hadley. I didn’t find him evil at all, in fact! I thought he was a bit charming with his quick-wit and fondness for getting under Hadley’s skin.
Avery Flynn sure knows how to execute a romantic comedy. She had me laughing hysterically, several times! Hadley’s family was fun and they really brought this other layer to the story, giving it this well-rounded feel. Not too funny and definitely not too serious. Avery Flynn continues to shock me with the way she brings incredibly unique stories with fun and quirky characters! Don’t miss out on this Disaster of a Wedding that turns into a true shot at love with the last person Hadley or Will was expecting!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
A billionaire cowboy wanna-be? I’m in! Avery Flynn brings humor mixed with a steamy enemies to lovers trope to life in THE WEDDING DATE DISASTER and you are sure to be smiling when you turn that final page.
Hadley is a fun character to unravel. She puts off a self-assured persona, but slowly begins to show her scars and insecurities as they grow closer.
Will wears his own scars on his sleeve and is determined to think the worst in every situation. Spending time with Hadley and her extended family shows him another side to life, but will it change anything?
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys an enemies to lovers trope with humor, sass and lots of heart mixed in.
I so love the world that Avery Flynn has created with Harbor City and all of its residents!
This is the story of Hadley and Will.
This is a story about assumptions and how pride goes before a fall. And with classic Ms. Flynn flair, this story is about family and love.
Hadley’s motto is “fake it till you make it” and that has been a blessing and a curse. She wants more and will fight to get what she wants.
Will is the “older” brother to his twin Web and he takes that title seriously, even to the detriment to his brother and himself. He makes assumptions and jumps to conclusions that made me want to shake him! But underneath all that, his heart wants Hadley and he fights it hard.
The secondary characters (Hadley’s family) are absolutely fantastic! They are funny and loving and bring humor and heart to the story.
This is a fast-paced story with fantastic dialogue, white-hot chemistry, and lots of laughs!! Cowboy up and get your hands on this!
The Wedding Date Disaster was such a fun, laugh out loud book. If you’re looking for an enemies to lovers, fake relationship romcom this is one to check out.
Will is used to people using him since he is successful. It’s only natural he thinks the same thing about his twin brothers best friend. Will and Hadley are not each others biggest fans, even though they have a common bond in Web. Will is known as the “evil twin” and Hadley can’t stand being around him. So a week in the middle of nowhere Nebraska stuck with Will is pretty much her worst nightmare.
This book was just a fun, feel good, romcom. I enjoyed every single moment of this story. It was full of fun family moments, laugh out moments, sweetness, romance, and banter. If you’re looking for a fun and light weekend read this is one to check out!
The story is written in Avery Flynn’s typically hilarious flavor. Hadley needs a date for her sister’s wedding. What she does not want that person to be is Will. From beginning to end you will be laughing at the antics of these two. You will also love Hadley’s maddening family as thy play their version of family game time. Will’s twin gets in on the action as the instigator of getting these two together. The ending of the story is extremely magnificent.
The Wedding Date Disaster by AveryFylnn
Contemporary romantic comedy. Enemies to lovers. Stand-alone.
Hadley and Will couldn’t stand each other. Right? Maybe? Will is sure she’s a gold digger trying to get money from his twin brother Web. Hadley doesn’t understand what she did to set Will against her but she’ll just stay out of his way. But fate and Web have other plans.
A fantastic and sexy hot romance. Fun and sizzling, engaging and satisfying.
Life isn’t perfect, but this romance comes pretty close.
All the feels from the heroine and hero at odds, working things out, to flames running hot.
The family dynamics add to the emotional fulfillment.
Excerpt:
“Adalyn hopped up from her bed at the same time that Hadley bounded up from the chair, and they met in the middle of the room and hugged in one of those mind-meld events that only sisters could have when you said about a million things without uttering a single word.”
Excerpt from The Wedding Date Disaster.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share.
Avery Flynn delivers her trademark sass and snark in this enemies to lovers story. There’s plenty of sparks and heat as Hadley and Will try deny their attraction and struggle to see each other for who they really are.
I really enjoyed the romance and “nice” times between Hadley and Will. When they finally put aside what they thought they knew about each other and connected it was magical. What I didn’t enjoy so much was Will – he could be such a jerk that I had a hard time connecting with him for a good part of the book…and even days after reading this book I’m still annoyed with him and I’m not sure he deserves the redemption that Hadley gave him. There were some really fun and touching moments between these two and there was no shortage of sparks, there was just a little something missing for me when it came to Will and his behavior.
What I really loved about this book was Hadley’s family. Between family game night and hanging out with PawPaw at his senior home, The Donovan-Martinez crew was everything you would want in a family. They know how to have fun, but they also know how to support each other and be there for one another. There were so many great moments between Hadley and her family, and I hope we get more from Avery Flynn with this family so we can spend more time with them!
Overall, this was another great read from Avery Flynn – in spite of Will!. Her writing style and dialogue are always on point and it’s easy to get caught up in her story and characters. This is definitely one worth checking out!0
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book I received from the author.
Hadley and The Evil Twin were hilarious. The banter kept me sucked into this book so much that I couldn’t put it down.
Will was definitely damaged and more than once I would have liked to knock him upside the head but I loved how he obviously loved his brother. Hadley was amazing in her take no crap from anyone but especially Will attitude. She kept me laughing through most of this book.
I am going to need Web’s story in my life. He’s too nosy and scheming not to get his own HEA!
