This is not a normal Susan Hatler novel. By that I mean, it is even more amazing than the rest. It’s such a different romance story. The characters are well built and easy to imagine. They both have their flaws and their problems making them seem more realistic. They have such silly antics at times. I loved all the different tasks that they have to do. This could easily be a great movie.
The story follows Sarah. She’s really happy for her friend’s wedding besides the fact that her childhood nemesis, Ben, will be there. Ben destroyed her senior year science project that could have helped her gotten a scholarship to college. Instead, she helped pay her uncle’s treatment cost and wasn’t able to go to law school with so many loans. Ben’s always tried to one-up her and compete with her for everything. Sarah’s always had a crush on him but knowing that he will never see her that way, she just lets it be that. Now at her friend’s wedding, it turns out that the wedding charm isn’t there. Sarah and Ben both volunteer to retrieve it. Once they reach, they realize this is no easy task as they have to do three different errands to get this charm.

The Wedding Charm is a beautifully written love story, that brings to light traditions held by families regarding wedding days. What starts with a dispute between a couple ends up with a proposal in the most romantic way possible. As in previous books, Susan Hatler finds the rhythm and good use of words to swoon her readers with a world of happily ever afters, and belief that all is possible when there is true love. She also makes quite a few good-humored passages which make the reading even lighter. Very entertaining!

This book is highly entertaining and romantic! I highly recommend reading it and can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

This is book one of The Wedding Whisperer series and the main character is maid of honour Sarah Carlton, who is not looking forward to having the bane of school life there as the best man! During their elementary school days Ben A kept calling her ‘dimples’, and then her high school science project was ruined and he was one of only three of them there at the time. She was hoping to win the scholarship that would go to the winner, especially with her family circumstances at the time. It is her best friend Jill’s wedding to Ryan and she wants to make everything perfect for her. When she gets to the rehearsal dinner, the bride to be is distraught upon realising that she doesn’t have the family wedding charm as her something old! It seems it wasn’t picked up from her late grandmother’s home and with all her family already in town for the wedding, they won’t be able to get it in time. Every bride has worn it for their wedding, going back generations. Without it, Jill doesn’t want to go ahead with the wedding.
Sarah offers to go to Atlanta, Georgia to collect the wedding charm, but at the same time Ben pipes up as well, to offer. He has the use of his office private jet and once she realises how much a last minute ticket costs, she has to try and sneak on without him knowing! When they get to Jill’s grandmother’s house, they find the box for the wedding charm, but her gran has left a bit of a challenge for the wedding couple to complete, to prove their love for each other. The only thing Sarah and Ben can do now, is to pretend to be the bride and groom to each of her gran’s friends, who will give them a task to do. They need to visit each old lady and successfully complete each of the tasks they are given, then get back for the wedding the next again evening. Each task challenges them in different aspects needed for a long and successful marriage and make for some amusing scenarios. They may have started out faking true love to the old ladies while completing all the tasks, but they finally do manage to find out the truth about what happened in high school and why he used to tease her so much! A challenge to prove true love with a best man who doesn’t believe in it and a maid of honour who hates the man she is stuck with for the weekend. A nice romantic tale, with the focus on the best man and maid of honour, rather than the bride and groom. Lots of fun and a quick read. Cute and CleanRomantic Comedy
This is a very cute and clean Romantic Comedy. It is part of ‘The Wedding Whisperer” series by Susan Hatler. It follows the ‘Opposites Attract’ trope in an ingenious way. As always with this author, the characters are realistic and their emotions are straight on. This is a cute book with plenty of giggles.

This was a fun read full of laughs and some great adventures, along with a cure wee dog called Moose all in the name of retrieving a wedding charm for Jill so she can get married. Sarah and Ben appear to have been rivalries since they met at school years ago, well from Sarah’s point of view anyway and the thought of his competitiveness coming out and being close to him at the wedding is not good nor her attraction to him. Next thing she knows her and Ben are stuck together pretending to be Jill and her fiance Ryan and oh how the fun really begins leaving you laughing and enjoying the tasks they need to complete while learning more about each other and learning truths about the past and the present!

I’ve heard a lot of buzz about the Magnolias and Moonshine romance series and was very excited to read The Wedding Charm by Susan Hatler. First, let me say it was fun. Some of the stories from grade school and high school? Well, they seem hilarious to me (now!) but I do remember some of those things happening to me, and around me, when I was younger.
I won’t recap the story as the author tells it much better than I ever could but ultimately it is a story about Sarah Carlton and Ben Atkins – nemesis extraordinaire from Sarah’s childhood. Both are in the wedding party of their friends, Jill and Ryan, as Maid of Honor and Best Man. A major wedding “crisis” occurs and both Sarah and Ben have to fly across the country to find a wedding charm that has been in Jill’s family for generations…before the wedding that will happen in a few days. Anyone who has dealt with a bride with a case of bridal nerves knows Jill will be a wreck but these two go off on a quest. They start off as frenemies and jump thru some crazy hoops to find the charm. They even adopt a dog along the way! Hilarious. (Love the dog, too.)
There really is a lot to smile about in this story, and you may even find yourself sniffling. Sometimes I just wanted to say “will you just speak up!” to Jill but the story moved along very well. I’m so very glad I found this group of books and thoroughly enjoyed this quick, fun read.
Sarah and Ben have been at odds all through school, even though he was her crush at the time. Now they are best man and bridesmaid at the wedding of their best friends. Someone needs to retrieve a family heirloom that every bride in the family has worn for generations, so off they go from California to Atlanta, not knowing the other is also on the hunt. Its just two days to go and they decide to work together as a letter says the couple has to prove their love. What follows is a hilarious and heartwarming tale as the two grow closer while they pretend to be the happy couple. The storyline has plenty of sass and situations that take them in interesting directions. Ball parks, tea parties, flower gardens and a dog. The last task makes the ending perfect. I really love the stories this author writes.
