When my mother decided to pull me out of school I didn’t say anything. When she homeschooled me, isolated me, kept me fearful of my peers, I followed along. When she packed me up and sent me across the country to live with my grandmother in the one-stoplight town of Lee Vines, I did as she said. But now that she’s left me here I’m on my own.I can make my own decisions.Make my own mistakes. And that … decisions.
Make my own mistakes.
And that includes if I let in the four boys that live next door.
Starlee’s Heart, Book 1 of the Wayward Son’s is a #whychoose contemporary young adult romance. Why fall in love once when you can do it over and over again?

I loved this book! The characters in this book draw you in from their first descriptions and conversations and leave you wanting to know more about them. They are all “broken” in some ways, and some more than others, but as they learn to trust each other, they form a bond that could be unstoppable by anything. The characters are easy to relate to and jump off the pages to tell their stories. This is but one of the reasons that I will always immediately buy Angel Lawson’s books. She creates these characters and worlds that seem like a person can step into them and interact with the characters on the page. I cannot wait to see where the next installment of this series takes us.
I loved this book! So much so, that when I finished it, instead of writing a review like normally, I went on my Facebook groups and told them all about it and how they HAD to read it!! I probably sounded a bit obsessed, but I was!! But, now I just realized that I never wrote a review for a book that I absolutely loved!!
This book is a reverse harem romance. But it’s young adult! I was shocked! You don’t see enough young adult RH!! Maybe it’s going to start picking up now. Anyway, this story is about Starlee. Raise your hand if you love that name. I love it! But Starlee is a 4th generation name, if I remember right. Her, her mother, her grandmother and great grandmother. Passed down. Kinda cool, I think. Anyway, I guess Starlee had a bad time with bullying and with boys in school and became extremely depressed (I won’t go into too much), and her mom pulled her out and homeschooled her since she was 15, I think. See what happens when you don’t write the review immediately!! Starlee’s mother won’t let her go anywhere, except the doctor and the market. She won’t let her near other teenagers, and especially BOYS!!! So Starlee after a few years develops social anxiety. She does her schooling online and one day meets a friend and starts talking with her. Well she makes the mistake of sneaking out to meet her. Her mother decides to ship her off to live with her grandmother in the small village that her mother grew up in. This is where the story begins, with her heading to her grandmother’s. The before stuff we learn through Starlee’s thoughts.
The funny thing is, Starlee’s mom thinks that in the little village no one will bother Starlee. She leave instructions with the grandmother. She leaves. Then Starlee starts meeting one at a time the four boys, around her age, that live next door from her grandmother. Best thing that ever happened to Starlee!! Four HOT boys!!
This was SOOO AWESOME!!!! I cannot wait for book 2!!! This author is totally new to me, but I loved her writing!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ONE!!!! Definitely 5++ Stars !!!
This book got me right in the heart with its character of Starlee. Angel Lawson does a beautiful job portraying anxiety in an individual, and how it affects every aspect of ones life. I loved the fact that this story shows a young woman growing beyond her fears, despite her severe anxiety. Starlee’s male counterparts were equally damaged, but just as loving the way they helped her grow…it was just wonderful.
Just a seriously beautiful story, I loved every page!
I began reading this book (borrowed with Prime Reading) because I liked the cover and title. Little did I know that one of the reasons I liked the title would actually remain prevalent throughout the book. So, yes, Supernatural Fans… Wayward Sons is a reference to the show’s theme song! There are more Supernatural gems to be found in the book as well.
As much as I loved and enjoyed the references and all, the main part of this book that I loved was the idea of finding your family, your circle. I don’t agree with everything the mom in this story has done, and I think it’s amazing that Starlee was able to find a connection with other teens who were feeling just as lost as she was. I really loved the grandmother in the story as well and how she was able to see things from both Starlee’s and her mother’s side and sort of be a buffer of sorts.
At the end, there’s sort of a cliffhanger, so be aware of that. I’m actually very intrigued and can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.
This is beautiful and heartbreaking. I absolutely love these characters and all their broken selves. I love that they all love Supernatural and I love reading Starlee grow as a character. I’m so happy I picked this book up and cannot wait to dive into book two!
