Sparks fly between a grumpy single father and a compassionate lawyer in “a sweet, homespun romance that tugs at the heartstrings in all the right ways” (Entertainment Weekly) — perfect for fans of New York Times bestselling authors Jill Shalvis and Lori Foster and USA Today bestselling author Jamie Beck. Gabby Langdon has always tried to make people happy. She even went to law school to please … happy. She even went to law school to please her father, and now she’s a highly successful-albeit bored-attorney. But Gabby secretly dreams of being a writer, so for once she does something for herself-she signs up for a writing class taught by best-selling novelist Caden Marshall. There’s only one problem: her brooding, sexy professor is a distraction she can’t afford if she’s finally going to get the life she truly wants.
Recently divorced and suffering from the world’s worst case of writer’s block, Caden is in Angel Falls to get his life back on track. He’s focused on teaching and providing a stable and loving home for his young daughter, Ava. A great love story where you find yourself cheering for the characters. So happy this book made me that within minutes of finishing it, I ordered the sequel
Gabby Langdon is a people pleaser. She became a lawyer to please her father. What she really wants to do is write books. She enrolled in a college writing class hoping to learn enough to enable her realize her dream of writing.
Caden Marshall is her writing professor and author of one successful book. He is suffering from writer’s block and took the teaching job to support his little daughter, Ava. He is divorced from Ava’s mother, a self-centered wanna be author, who gave up custody of her little girl and only sees her when the mood strikes her. Cade is just trying to work and take care of his daughter until he is able to write again. He doesn’t have any intention of getting romantically involved with anyone.
So begins a somewhat contentious relationship between Gabby and Cade. Cade tries to keep the professor/student relationship on a professional level. Gabby…not so much.
I enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a sweet romance. I would give it 10 stars if it was possible.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a new to me author and I’m glad I took a chance!
I could relate to Gabby in so many ways. She is a woman who will do anything to make others happy even if it doesn’t make her. She is someone who is searching for her “passion” but in the meantime doing what is expected of her. I admire all the classes she has taken to try and find that one thing that makes her tick. I’m glad she finally did and she isn’t letting any negative comments stop her from trying to succeed.
My heart broke for Caden. He has been put through the ringer and because of this it has made him start to doubt himself and his abilities. Because of this, he has decided that instead of following his passion, he will do the more sensible and stable option. He has his daughter to think about and while I think this is an admirable trait, writers need their outlet and to stop I believe it hurts their soul.
I loved reading about theses two both trying to do the right thing with outside influences trying to sway their decision.
Meant to be by Alison Bliss
I have been a fan of Alison Bliss’s for awhile. I have been waiting to get Brett’s story.
This book did an amazing job and showcasing just how far Brett has come from a previous book. He had some serious anger issues that he needed to take care of. It almost resulted in his sister disowning him but it did make him lose the love of his life.
This story picks up a year later when the two of them meet again. Sidney expects that Brett will be the same man she left and wants nothing to do with him. Brett desperately wants to show Sidney that he has changed and with therapy he is still working on it.
What I loved most about this story was you could tell the love was still there between these two. It was a true case of the heart wants one thing but the head is telling them another. Reading about them reconnecting and falling back in love was wonderful to read.
Who amongst us hasn’t crushed on a teacher/professor? Part of the rites of passage to adulthood.
I received a copy of this book for an honest review, I was not required to give a favorable review. This is a great story of finding love and happiness for two people who have been hurt but are afraid of trying again. Gabby is a attorney that tries to different classes to try new things, but the one thing she has always wanted to do was write like her mother. So decided to take a night course on writing, when she first meets her professor it doesn’t turn out so good. But Caden is home after his divorce and dealing with writer block. His little is glad to be around her grandmother. They have many hurdles to give over but it will make you happy to continue reading about the good karma from Angel Falls.

Mary Jo –
I really enjoyed the way the characters of Gabby and Caden first met and the initial angst really made me buy into these characters.
As their relationship blossoms, you can really feel the characters’ growth.
I adored this book and can’t wait until the next book in the series.

Loved it!!
This is a fun series in Angel Falls. Gabby Langdon is a successful attorney who is bored and wants to be a writer. She decides to take a writing class at the local college. Her super handsome, sexy professor is a distraction that she can’t handle.
Caden Marshall had one highly successful book and now has a horrible case of writer’s block. His ex destroyed him and now he just wants to raise his young daughter, Ava, and provide for her but he can’t stop thinking about Gabby, who is off limits because she is his student. She also helps with his research so they spend more time together. More time means more opportunities . . .
Is it possible for Caden to get over the damage his ex caused and risk his heart for true love with Gabby or will he settle for the safe bet? Sometimes you have a risk a little to get a lot!
I liked the romance of this story. It flowed well and the character were very well developed. I am not a fan of the descriptive sex scenes but it was a very romantic book, too. I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
Copied from a Goodreads post:
Rating this a 4+. Was lucky enough to win a copy on Goodreads but that is not influencing my review.
The Way You Love Me is about two writers: Gabby Langdon (an aspiring author and student in a creative writing course being taught by…) and Caden Marshall (disillusioned author accused of plagiarism who is trying for stability by becoming a literary researcher and teaching courses in creative writing). Both of these characters have lots of backstory to their tale and MS Liasson is very artful in weaving in the details with the help of a wonderful cast of supporting characters. But at heart, the story is about believing in yourself, allowing yourself to find joy in life and not being afraid of losing yourself by allowing someone else into your life. You will enjoy reading Gabby’s and Caden’s movement from their initial confrontation over a parking space, through their crises (blackmail, former lovers and misunderstandings) to their HEA beginning, especially the chicken nuggets episode and Gabby’s date with the minister.
My only very picky points are: Gabby might be a little too perfect (has tried almost everything and has never failed, at least outwardly) and I think the character of Emerson (Cade’s ex) could have been brought into the story a little more fully. But I think everyone who reads this will appreciate the craftsmanship of the writing and how the author ties in former story threads and foreshadows tales yet to be told. Loved it.
I have to tell you that I think I like The Way You Love Me more then I did Then There Was You. And I really enjoyed Then There Was You. So to me that’s saying a lot.
I think you’ll also fall in love with these two characters. Both have their issues, but it’s how they deal with them that you’ve got to respect. Gabby comes off as a flighty woman who can’t settle. She jumps for the this to that. You wonder if she’ll be able to ever get her act together and what’s driving her.
As the book goes on you start to figure out why she’s the way she is and that flighty is the last word you should use, or I guess that was me, not you who used flighty. Ha!
Caden is another fish. He’s a father of a little girl and for those that follow me they know that’s a trigger for me. Love me a single father.
He comes off as a asshole in the beginning but just like Gabby you find there is more to him that meets the eye.
I really enjoyed how these two figured out they are in love. It’s not a straight shoot but when it does happen it’s well worth it. I liked how at times you didn’t know if who you thought of them was right or if they really were the was they came off. Love when characters have depth.
Layers are what make a romance.
The Caden’s daughter adds even more to the story and you also visit with some of the characters you enjoyed from the first book in the series.
This is such a wonderful feel good story about family, friends and the pursuit of happiness. The Way You Love Me is the first book by Miranda Liasson that I’ve read and I’m already clamoring for the next book in this series and planning on reading book 1 ASAP. I fell in love with this little community and the entire Langdon family. Liasson’s writing left me feeling all the warm fuzzies.
Focused on the youngest daughter Gabby. Early on I had a connection moment with Gabby Langdon where I thought maybe Ms Liasson knew me and thought she sneak in an observation about me. I TOO LOVE to take classes, to learn about things, doing things, even if I don’t perfect the activity. Unlike Gabby, who seems to master mostly everything. So when Lawyer Gabby enrolls for a creative writing class and meets the handsome writer/professor Cade Marshall I was elated. I particularly love this description of their interaction and what it prophesies:
“Cade watched her go. The old metal clock on the wall gave a loud click as the metal hand jolted forward, as if marking the moment that something in his life had just shifted”
Cade and Gabby find their lives intertwining and although the whole teacher/student dynamic is a no-no, you can’t help who you fall for. Gabby quickly learns it’s a two-fer where Cade is concerned as his adorable daughter Ava is big part of the package.
This was such a sweet and fun read. I loved everything about it, the plot line light on angst but just enough to remind the reader that life is complicated and falling in love is glorious, but also hard. The myriad cast of characters, her Nonna, her friend Kaitlin and sister Sara, and brother Rafe. And I thoroughly enjoyed the Cade’s character and the complexities of his family. I highly recommend this to one an all lovers of contemporary romance and look forward to visit Angela Falls more!
Miranda Liasson pulled at ALL my heart strings with this latest book in the Angel Falls series! She made me laugh out loud, reach for the Kleenex, and heave a happy sigh at the end. THE WAY YOU LOVE ME is the perfect read to warm your heart during this cold winter!
Sweet and funny. Really enjoyed this one!
I really enjoyed book 2 in the Stay series by Miranda Liasson because it has everything I look for when I want to lose myself in a great romance. I was emotionally drawn to Gabby’s close knit family who have experienced the loss of their mother, the second marriage of their father and are now sharing care taking duties for their beloved grandmother who has Alzheimer’s Disease. Having lost my father to Alzheimer’s it was easy to feel a great deal of empathy for this wonderful family. The sexual tension between Gabby, and her love interest Cord, is absolutely delicious and I so enjoyed the antics of Cord’s 3 year old daughter Ava. My favorite thing about this book is the small town setting of Angel Falls which is loosely based on my small town! It was a real pleasure to read all about the shops on Main Street, the falls on the Chagrin River and the Blossom Festival which is held every year on the weekend before Memorial Day. What more could a romance fan ask for? I read a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
Linda’s Book Obsession Reviews “The Way You Love Me” by Miranda Liasson
Miranda Liasson , Author of “The Way you Love Me” has written a delightful, charming, emotional and heartwarming novel. The Genres for this book are Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Contemporary Fiction, and Romance. The timeline for this story is set in the present. The author describes her characters as each having their own expectations and set of problems to deal with.
Gabby Langdon has just become an attorney, and yet wants more. One of her secret wishes is to become a writer just like her late mother. To make that wish a reality, Gabby enrolls in a writing course at night.
Caden Marshall is a writer, but has a serious writer’s block. He also has to provide for his young daughter Ava. Caden takes a position to teach writing. On the first night of the class, Caden hurries and takes a parking spot that Gabby was about to take. Literally, that is how the two of these characters meet. There are definitely sparks at this moment.
Gabby is a strong -willed and determined young woman. Caden is a stubborn, and responsible man. Is there a chance there can be something more? You will have to read the book to find out.
I appreciate that the author discusses the importance of family, friends, communication, honesty, forgiveness, second chances, love and hope. I would recommend this enjoyable book to readers who enjoy romantic stories. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.
This book has some cursing (including a few f-bombs) and a couple of sex scenes but neither of those things overwhelmed the story. If those things bother you, they’re easily skipped over or ignored. While this is the second book of a beautiful series, you don’t have to read the first book to enjoy this one – it totally stands alone. All that said, you should read Then There Was You because it is so great.
Miranda Liasson is one of my very few one-click authors because her books are all written with such a tremendous amount of humor, heart, and the kind of characters that make me crave more of them. The Way You Love Me is one of those books that ticks all of my “happiness” boxes. This story had an adorable meet-cute (which I won’t spoil but it’s pretty hilarious), and a well-written plot that made it hard for me to put down. If you like a book that is laced with subtle humor, you’ll love Miranda Liasson’s writing “voice”. Her wry but hilarious way of telling a story a story is incredibly captivating.
I identified with Gabby in a lot of ways, so I was fully invested in her story and whether she’d figure out what she wanted to do with her life. Watching her grow into her own was awesome, and I loved the way she figured herself out. The ties that Gabby had with her late mother, and the discoveries she made about her family history were intriguing and I couldn’t stop reading once the plot started to really unravel – I needed to know everything!
I also really adored Cade and I just wanted the two of them to figure out how to have their happily ever after because these just two belonged together. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, Cade is kind of a tool during the aforementioned meet cute, but he was also a stupidly charming tool. Like Gabby, I was smitten with him from the start. Even when he was flawed throughout the book, he was still a great guy who just wanted the best for Gabby and more importantly, for his daughter, Ava. Cade was an amazing father who would have done anything to keep Ava happy and healthy, and I loved his devotion to her. There is nothing sexier than a man who adores his daughter. And speaking of Ava, she was wonderful. So often kids in books are written more little adults or obnoxious brats, but Ava was absolutely adorable. I loved the way that she and Gabby bonded so organically and so beautifully.
Thanks to all of the foreshadowing, I am really, really looking forward to Rafe’s story. I want to gush about all of the things I’m looking forward to in that, but I don’t want to spoil anything. I cannot wait for that book!
Miranda Liasson never disappoints!! Cade is a divorced dad with custody of his daughter who decides to move back to his hometown to get a steady job to support her. He is an author but despite having a contract for another book, he just can’t seem to write. Gabby is a lawyer who is taking a class to help her with her passion…writing. The way these 2 meet is quite funny. They are attracted to each other and even though they both realize it, neither thinks they want a relationship. They both have suffered losses in the relationship department so they have much to overcome to get to their HEA. This is the 2nd book in the series but is very easily read as a standalone. I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.
The Way You Love Me Book 2 in the Angel Falls Miranda Liasson
5 +++ Stars
Awesome! Awesome! Loved it so much! I fully enjoyed this sweet romance! Captivated my interest throughout!
The story takes place in Angel Falls.
Gabby became a lawyer to please her father. What she really wanted to do is write books. She enrolls herself in a writing class.
Caden is a writing professor. He is an author with one successful book. He is a divorced, single father to a girl, Ava. He takes up the writing class to support his daughter and trying to get out of writers block.
“You bring me so much joy. After so many years of pain.”
Another beautiful love story of Miranda Liasson. I had the pleasure of getting to know the work of this writer last year and I became a fan of her soft, humorous and love-filled writing.
In this book, I met the story of Gabby, Sara’s younger sister, who was always a cheerful spirit capable of enlightening places and conquering everyone around her, but she always carried the desire to write a book, a wish that was saved while she invested her career as a lawyer to please her father. Now that she has become a partner in the firm where she works, she decided it was time to conquer her old dream.
She just did not count that her creative writing teacher would be the mysterious, demanding and cocky Cade. Cade has lived through some very bad experiences in his career and in his personal life and now he has to start from scratch to give to his daughter Ava a little more comfort and family. He just did not expect that when he applied for a teaching job he would meet a sweet girl who would change his life.
I loved the plot too much and the way Miranda built the relationship between them, she made me twist from the beginning for the couple and fall in love with Ava. I liked to see again the characters from the previous book and have already had a taste from the next one.
The cover was very well chosen and combines perfectly with the book.
I love this Angel Falls series and book two did not leave me disappointed. The characters are wonderful. This book about Gabby and Cade is a very emotional story with some heartache, happiness, and a sexy college writing professor. Add to that a cute little girl named Ava and you have an emotional story that will touch your heart. The story made me happy when Gabby was happy and sad for her when things were not working out. It was also fun to see if the legend of Angel Falls would come true for this couple. I am so excited there is a third book in this series about Gabby’s brother, Rafe and her best friend, Kaitlyn. I received an advance copy of this book and I chose to write an honest review.
