Another emotional read
Anne did it again! This series, just read it. You won’t be disappointed. This is so unlike anything I have read.
The Way with You is the second book in the Back to Me series by Anne Mercier. You really need to read the first book, The Way Back to Me before you read this one. In the first book we watched Olivia Brennan deal with the devastating loss and heart break of losing her boyfriend and closest friends in a horrible accident. Olivia was the only survivor in the crash that killed her four friends. We watched Olivia struggle to go on and move forward alone. Olivia is an incredibly strong woman who not only didn’t give up but she learned how to love again.
In The Way Back to Me we watched Olivia and Cam fall in love and overcome many obstacles to do so. Cam helped Liv learn to move forward without guilt and we loved him for it. Cam and Liv seemed very much in love and happy with each other.
In this book The Way with You things take a different turn. Olivia and Cam have even more obstacles to overcome if they want to be together. Unfortunately some obstacles are just too big for this couple. Cam is so focused on football that he doesn’t have any time for Liv. Cam never tries to make Olivia a priority which is deeply upsetting to her. Things really take a bad turn when Allison, Cam’s ex shows up wanting Cam back. Allison begins bullying and threatening Olivia so much that I was worried for her safety. Yet Cam does nothing, he doesn’t help Liv or support her when she needs him the most. When things get out of hand Olivia has to decide if things with Cam can even be saved.
“I’ve begun to wonder what I’m doing with a guy who calls me his girlfriend but doesn’t treat me like one.” -Olivia
Throughout everything that Olivia goes through Lex and Bash are by her side. These two prove what real friends are. I absolutely loved Bash from the start. I wanted Liv to see him as more than just a friend knowing he was the right one for her. What will happen if she does? I know most want Olivia and Cam together but not me. I think Bash has proven over and over again that he truly cares about her while Cam doesn’t.
“This is true love, the stuff that happily ever afters are made of.” -Alexa
I really liked this book and if it would have been a standalone I would have given it 5 stars. However I just don’t understand how we went from watching Olivia and Cam fall in love in the first book to watching him completely change in this book. It was like Cam was a completely different person from one book to the next and I didn’t like this Cam. Don’t get me wrong I’m very happy with the way this book ended I just don’t understand why it all happened the way it did.
I would really like to see Lex get her own book next. She is a fantastic character that I would like to see more of.
This book deals with many emotional situations, everything from death, bullying and depression that may affect some. I think Anne Mercier handled this all amazingly well. I felt everything Olivia went through. I wanted to crawl into this book to give Olivia a hug and to punch Cam in the face. It takes a good author to get these kind of reactions from her readers so I congratulate you Anne Mercier on doing so.
Anne did it again!!! Another amazing read!!! She sucked me in right from the start and had me feeling so many emotions. Laughing, crying, anger, frustration. Amazing book definitely recommend reading!
Woah! You jump straight back into the drama in this one! It picks up perfectly where book one finished.
I’m normally pretty good at figuring out the general direction of a story but this one threw me a bit. I went in thinking drama, redemption and happiness but I was waaay off base.
Don’t get me wrong, the story was great- there WAS drama (a lot of it), there WAS happiness and some super hot moments.
I’m trying hard not to leave any spoilers so I will say: It was just different from what I had expected, not the ending I thought it would be but I enjoyed it thoroughly.
After book1 in this series I was quite shocked by some of the events in this follow-up. However, I think the author did the right thing by her characters, it was the deeper truth to them all. So though a tad shocking to us readers it was kinda perfect!!!
I won’t reveal spoilers, as it’s annoying & it would ruin this story completely for you, but the arrival of a person from Liv, Cam & Alexa’s past is HUGE!! Heart stopping things occur, so you’ve been warned!!
This book was full of shocks, heartbreak, friendships made, kept, lost & kindled … in all it was absolutely wonderful & I highly recommend it to all. I’d just say don’t assume anything If you enjoy Tijan’s high school based books I think you’ll enjoy these too!!!

I loved book 1 and didn’t want anything to happen between Cam and Livy. WHY did this have to go in a different way? Cam totally did a 180 and wasn’t even close to who he was in book 1. What happened?!?! I get people grow and change over time but it was such a dramatic change. Livy did find who she belonged too but I just couldn’t handle the complete change in Cam. Total invasion of the body snatcher.
Another amazing read! I loved it.
Made me fall even more for Sebastian 🙂 The things Olivia had to go through and the way she coped with it, made you want to crawl into the book and comfort her. But one way or the other, she finds her strength and a way to stand on her own two feet and not depend on someone else. This book just got every feel and let you down that rollercoaster ride again, like the first book! Don’t think I could’ve asked for more when Olivia choose the right path… I let you all figure that one out when you read it!
NOT FOR ME
With all good conscience, I am amending the reviews for this series….I have realized I can’t give five stars just to be giving them or based on how much I loved this author’s other series…. Anne Mercier’s RockStar Series is one of my all time favorite series, but The Way Series is NOT the RockStars……Having said that, I wish I had read The Way Back to Me as a standalone, and then, a little later, read the The Way With You, also as a standalone or not at all……. Maybe I would have enjoyed it more ….Separately, book one was okay…. Together, book 2 ruined book 1 for me….. My personal recommendation if you want to read the series, let a couple of months separate them…….While the HEA was not my HEA, I guess it was Oivia’s….I just have to remember Ms. Mercier had a different direction for the characters than I wanted, and this was Olivia’s journey, not mine, & an HEA is for the character not me!!! That doesn’t mean I have to like it…but it also doesn’t mean it’s a bad book or series….Reviews are opinions …. I just wish I had read book 1 and skipped Book 2…
Anne Mercier’s follow up, “The Way with You”, to “The Way Back to Me” is a tough subject matter. It deals with some pretty heavy bullying. It is only because of that, that I struggled to give it more stars.
Poor Olivia finally thinks her world is coming together again, after losing her close knit group of friends in a car accident. She thinks she has fallen in love with the boy who used to bully her in high school, and she has two amazing and supportive new best friends; in Alexa and Bash.
However, not is all as it seems.
Alison – a girl who tormented Olivia in high school, has shown up at college. Her hellish behaviour has not seemed to wane with her age, and she continues to torment and traumatise Olivia. Add to this that Cameron – the boy she loves – is so wrapped up in his college football career, that he neglects to see that he is pushing his girlfriend away.
After a horrific assault on Olivia, her friendship with Bash begins to reach new levels. Cameron continues to neglect her, while Bash is picking up the pieces and just biding his time.
Bash loved her from the first moment he met her. Olivia loved him from the first moment she met him – she just didn’t realise it until now.
