cowboycal_ She was my best friend and the love of my life until she chased her dreams all the way out of town, leaving scraps of my heart littered along the highway. I never thought I’d see her again- wasn’t prepared to. How the hell am I supposed to work with her everyday when the sound of her laugh stops me in my tracks?#shemightlooklikeheaven

Everything a great romance should be
Tinley Blake is a new to me debut author, and I have to admit to going into the story blind. I didn’t know that it was a second chance romance, nor that it contained one hell of a sexy cowboy, heartbreak, humour and some hot as hell moments between our couple, Blake and Calvin. What I do know now, is that The Way We Loved is everything that is synonymous with the word, Romance!
Calvin, I discovered, is your typical Alpha cowboy who wears his heart on his sleeve and is honourable to the core. Everything that he does for his friends, family and for Blake is undertaken in a quiet and low-key manner. He does it because he has a generous integrity, never expecting anything in return. I loved him.
Blake has been gone for over a decade, and is a successful social media advisor and business owner. She’s going places. Her love-life however is not, and after realising that everything she though she knew was a facade, she decides it’s time to home. Not to escape her current situation, but to just go home.
While she’s settling at home, memories she has been running from are beautifully described as she deals with her original loss, letting those who loved her and suffered when she left, finally have her back in their lives. If there was one thing that I can’t let go of, it’s that it appears she’s been off living what she thought was her best life, while those who had mattered to her back in Alabama just existed, and I don’t think that it’s been fair for them.
Otherwise, everything about the story that Ms Blake has written, is easy to fall into. It’s a warm blanket of love and poignant sadness for the story surrounding Calvin and Blake and it’s a beautiful romance that I loved reading. 4.5 Stars, and I’m looking forward to the next book!
No Place Like Home
This is a fantastic debut novel. It was a hometown second chance at love. The characters Blakelynn ran from home the moment she turned 18 on to bigger and better things, She made it she runs a successful company and shares her opinions with the world until she finds her fiance and best friend in her house. Blake needs a place to think and she returns home to Alabama and her childhood best friends who run a ranch. She wants to help put these guys on the map, as well as figure out what went wrong with her, and why she isn’t so disappointed by the end of her relationship.
Calvin Hunt goes to work one day to discover a ghost, his girl, the one whom he has always loved is back, Blakelynn, The one who left for 11 years, and never looked back. He is angry and hurt and confused because he still can’t quit Blakelynn and all the feelings she brings back. Calvin has a wall up just wondering when she is going to leave again.
This was a heartwarming read that invoked so many feelings especially from Calvin, he was a hurt man and his feelings never went away. I love to see the whole childhood banter and ease that Blakelynn, Beau, and Calvin had. Some of the flow was a little off for me but everything else worked and just an exceptional enduring love story.
This second chance romance is the perfect mixture of funny, sweet, and steamy. I can’t wait to read more from Tinley Blake.
