One brilliant smile, and my heart beat for what felt like the very first time. One night as he held my sister and sang to her, it broke.Years later, his smile is different, and I curse my heart when it beats in an all too familiar way, a way it’s only ever beat for him… again. He was once hers, could he ever truly be mine?
If you loved MJ Fields Legacy Series then you most definitely will love The Way We Fell.
Kendall Ross is a young woman living the best life, going to college, traveling the world but who would of thought the one man you always had an eye on growing up you would see in a bar in Ireland.
Ben Sawyer is living the life he always wanted and not the life his parents saw for him, Music is his passion but one night that passion becomes more than music it becomes the one and only Kendall Ross.
You will watch this incredible couple come together and overcome some obstacles to find their best life but when you know that person is your person you will do whatever it takes to make it happen.
Keep giving me more in this group of family and friends and I will dive in. I loved the Love series, The Wrapped Series, The Burning Souls Series, The Firsts Series. This one going back a bit with Tessa and Collin and Lucas and Ashley and all the others. It was crazy how Alpha Ben was in this book, even more than Collin or Lucas. And wouldn’t have thought Kendall would be so affected by Tessa’s life choices. great read
I liked this book, but in the beginning I struggled to connect with Kendall. It wasn’t because she was saving herself for marriage. I was raised that way also. I think it was because she was so rigid. She had it in her head that she couldn’t commit until after she was done with school. Even though Ben was right there begging for a chance, and she was positive there could be nothing there. Once she decided to give him a chance, I really got into their story. I loved Ben. He was romantic and faithful. In the end, he was who I connected more with and was glad he kept after her.
Kendall is living life her way – Just cruising along exploring all the things the world has to offer
She is in no hurry to settle down when the perfect man comes along she will know.
She has seen how settling for less works in a relationship and she wants more in her life.
Ben is living his dream in the music industry. And never doubt that he is indulging in all the benefits that come with the lifestyle.
He is a firm believer in pleasure without commitment.
Okay, I am going to be a bit blunt –
Ben likes sex – A LOT!
What is not to like about giving and receiving pleasure?
Life is short – YOLO – etc. etc …
I enjoyed Ben’s enthusiasm for the most part. Really, I did but there were times he was just a bit too exuberant in his attempts to sway others (like Kendall) to his belief system. That brings me to some of his choices – he is lucky I was unable to reach into the pages.
It swears at times his mind only worked on one track – Ben’s.
I have to give him props though – When he wants something he does a pretty good job of going after it
Kendall was a spitfire. She took the chances that made her happy she sought out the challenges.
She hid from heartache –
But never did she sell out her beliefs. I loved her tenacity. Her zest for life was contagious.
When the two cross paths the past is brought to the present
Old wounds become fresh scars
The chemistry between these two is immediate as a reader I could feel the tension radiating from the pages
The secrets? Wait for them
Sometimes even boys believe in fairy-tales
A wonderful read with a strong story-line, well crafted main and secondary (loved the supporting cast) characters.
This is chocked full of moments.
Moments that make you laugh
Moments that make you cry
Moments that make you angry
Moments that make you believe
Omg…just…OMG
First things first…I was always a big fan of Ben! (Shh don’t tell Lucas)
I love when a strong, alpha male can admit…he believes in fairy tales!
Kendall the youngest Ross girl fell in love with a boy when she was a wee lass…that boy broke her heart.
Ben the boy who pulled the thorn out of the little blonde haired girls finger… remembered the wrong girl.
A coincidental meeting of two people who have know each other their whole lives. The girl whose always had hearts in eyes for the boy who now sees her a beautiful woman.
The back & forth banter between Ben & Lucas took me back to the Love Series that’s what made me love Ben so much!
Love, love, love this book!
3.5 Stars.
I have loved MJ Fields Love Series and I was looking forward to reading Kendall and Ben’s story. MJ Fields writing is heartfelt and emotional.
I’m finding this review hard to write as I really struggled with Kendall. I just didn’t like her, I can’t put my finger on it but I struggled to connect with her and I found her quite dramatic and childish at certain points. Yes she was young and innocent, but she ran away or threw strops instead of dealing with what was in front of her. She was always expecting and thinking the worst of Ben which really frustrated me.
This wasn’t my favourite of MJ Fields writing and I think that’s purely because I struggled to connect with Kendall but I am usually a huge fan of her writing.
This story is so good! If you follow mj fields book you will know how much Ben and kendall mean to everyone. Meeting by chance can change everything. Both Ben and Kendall have dreams that they want. Things that they want to do and they will not let anybody stop them. This book is funny and addicting. You will not want to put this book down
This is my very first read by this author and she’s excellent.
The story of Ben and Kendall. I assumed that this was part of a series when the author referred to other characters in the book like I was supposed to know them and their story but I didn’t feel like I was missing out not having read the other books….yet!
Cute love story of this couple that have met when they were little kids and Ben was briefly seeing Kendall’s sister Tessa. Nothing came out if that relationship but Ben really cared for Kendall even back then.
Thinking that she shouldn’t mess around with her sisters ex not knowing that their relationship wasn’t really that hot back then. She is still iffy about their relationship when she meets him by pure luck in a bar in Dublin at a concert he was giving. Talk about meant to be!!
Awesomely written! Dialogue is a bit weird but hey it’s the authors style of writing….
Might just have to read the rest of the series!!
MJ Fields
From the moment the thorn was pulled out to the minute they reconnect with Ben’s straight forward attitude, this book was one I could not put down. An incredibly sweet and schmexy read of a man that fell for a girl and never gave his heart to another. Did he play around in between the time they met and the moment they reunite? Yes. But from the moment he sets his heart to win Kendall so that they can both have the fairy tale ending they BOTH wanted.
I love that Kendall sticks to her convictions from the get go, always waiting to give her heart away to the one that would hold it forever.
Another 5 star read for the book I couldn’t put down.
Ben Sawyer’s dream seems to be coming true. Kendall Ross loves to experience life and different cultures. Our author doesn’t make a big deal out of it but we have an older man/younger woman but the age difference is minimal. They have a history that gets revealed but it doesn’t seem to take over the story more of building a connection between the two.
This is another story in how differently men and women think. Our author does a good job with that and some moments will even give you a chuckle – others may make you sad/mad in Kendall’s defense. It did have me wonder how you might have handled some of the situations Ms. Fields created. She even takes it one step further because it seems as if Kendall wants the reader to know how she really feels – as if she’s talking directly to us. Some may be team Ben but I’m in Kendall’s corner.
On the flip side, Ben seemed to put pressure on her because he wanted something different from what Kendall wanted. The author made her strong in spirit because she stuck to her guns. She was given a good sense of self. Ben may have been created a little too perfectly because there were times where I got mad in how Ben treated her. But she stuck to her guns and he wasn’t going to force her into changing her beliefs. This is where the book seems so realistic. Her characters didn’t rush into anything and neither do we. There’s one scene where they have a heart to heart and everything said was spot on. If you’re someone that reads until the very end and I mean going past the happy ending, like me, you may find you have some catching up to do when it comes to the families.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
I really enjoyed this book. It has an easy flow to it that I found myself just gobbling up the pages. Okay, I have to say I need a Ben in my life. He has patience of a saint and integrity that makes him perfect book boyfriend material. This book also had me laughing quite often and then it would hit me in the heart producing some tears. The thing I love about MJ Fields’ writing it she gives you a great story, but hits you with real life. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, but she always leaves with me a smile on my face and my heart happy sighing. This book was no different. Trust me you’re going instantly get drawn in and won’t come up for air. All the characters will keep you entertained. It was nice catching up with previous characters. Always nice to see them enjoying their HEAs.
I loved Ben and Kendall’s story. I went back and reread to previous books that lead up to this—though it can be read as a standalone. I wanted to remember everything the way it happened and then got into this. It is kind of a slow burn story because Kendall wants to wait for marriage to be intimate and Ben wants that for her—and very quickly starts telling her “when” not “if” it happens for them. He has to work hard to keep her from throwing them away due to other people choices and heartache, but it is a sweet ride.
I love Ben there I’ve said it. He’s one of those characters that you immediately fall for with his good looks and dirty mouth. He absolutely made the book for me. He kept me intrigued with the story and kept me swooning the whole way through.

This is Kendall and Ben’s story and is set at the same time as the legacy series books. It was fantastic to revisit the characters from this series and I was laughing at some of the interactions between Ben and Lucas.
I loved that Ben was hot, sexy and loyal and was also the ultimate gentleman and waited for Kendall. It is a story of trials, tribulations, dreams and above all else true love.
Brilliant story to add to the already much loved Legacy stories.
If another book comes along (fingers crossed) I will be front in the queue to devour it.
Ben and Kendall’s story is a beautifully written love story. It’s a flash back to when Tessa and Lucas were younger and had young children. This is Tessa’s younger sister story and what a story it is!!!
All though this book is set at the same time as the love series books it is a standalone so you don’t have to have read them but I’d recommend that you will want to. They’re just that good !
In this book, Kendall has loved Ben since she was in pre- k but instead he showed interest in her sister Tessa, her poor heart ended up broken. Fast forward years later, Kendall and Ben reconnect. Only Kendall remembers him not choosing her and Ben doesn’t remember who she is from the past- at first. Ben is on the verge of becoming this epic music superstar but he’s only caring about Kendall and being with her. There is so much angst, twists, feels, steam, romance… just a rollercoaster ride of a romance read!!! Loved it!! Loved the secondary characters in this story as well. Great reading characters from previous stories. Overall, great read!!
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
Absolutely Outstanding .
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of The Way We Fell . I love this story it’s a beautiful emotional love story . This author writes from the heart and sometimes it’s an easier journey and sometimes there’s alot of bumps in the road . This story was a nice mixture . I’m never disappointed . This author weaves a beautiful emotional story . This is Kendall and Bens love story it’s a long time coming . Kendall has loved Ben since she was young but when he showed interest in her sister Tessa her heart was broken .
Years later they reconnect but Kendall has high expectations and can Ben live up to them . I fell in love with Ben along time ago . I could not put this story down . I highly recommend reading you’ll fall in love with Ben also. I love returning to the old gang of the Love series books . This story is absolutely beautiful . It makes my heart feel light to read two people and their faithfulness to each other I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy
This story is about Ben and Kendall. Kendall loved Ben from when she was a young girl. Growing up she saw heartbreak from her sister and knew she didn’t want that for herself. Kendall is a strong woman who knows what she wants.
Ben is what every woman wants in a man. On top of being hot he is honest, loyal, and respectful. He knows how a relationship should be. Ben and a Kendall reconnect and the chemistry between them is through the roof.
Kendall has morals and at times wants to break them. But Ben helps her stick to them and not break them. They both want each other to live their dreams and not stop being who they are.
In this book you will meet up with everyone from the Love Series. Kendall’s dad, John had me laughing quite a bit in this book and you will also get the Ben and Lucas banter. This is a book you won’t want to miss reading.
Another amazing read by MJ Fields. I fell in love with Ben from the first page. Loved seeing past characters. Love the way MJ Fields makes you fall in love with her characters. They are so special. Ben and Kendall’s love is so real. They are both such strong characters. They each know what they want in life and are not afraid to go after it or afraid or intimidated by what others think. A definite must read by an amazing author who never disappoints her readers with each story she tells.
This is Ben Sawyer and Kendal Ross’ story and can be read as a standalone, thou the Love Series will give a back story to some of the other characters
The quotes I could write from this book are numerous as I love MJ’s writing, but my favourites had to be“It’s not on little girls who buy into fairy tales, sometimes guys fall for the bullsh*t too” and “Don’t worry about my heart – I’m a big boy, but let me show you that I can care for yours”
These just made me fall in love with Ben Sawyer even more!
Kendall is a strong woman who knows her own mind and having gone through ‘secondhand heartbreak’ after her sister suffered heartbreak, had her determined not to give herself to anyone, but wait for her one true love. Despite the hot off the charts chemistry between her and Ben right from the outset and the swoon worthy way he treated her, she stuck to her morals – Ben it the epitome of what you want in a book boyfriend – hot as hell musician, with a heart of gold and determined to make the girl his.
This wasn’t a plain sailing love story and you were definitely kept on your toes which kept me hooked to this story and I can’t wait for more stories from the other characters.
MJ, you did it again – another 5 star read
